Elk Glen Tropical and Clay

Richard Bradus

Late morning at Elk Glen Lake today (Oct. 2) the Tropical Kingbird put on a nice display, hawking repeatedly from the small trees lining the northeast shore. Very vocal and active Black Phoebe and a begging juv. Red-tail as well. Russ Bright arrived and we headed over toward the maintenance yard just to the west where Russ quickly spotted the Clay-colored Sparrow reported yesterday by Juan Garcia, loosely associating with a mixed sparrow flock but quickly flying east, possibly back toward the lake.

Great weather, great birds!
