10.21.18 Sea watch from South end of OB- Long-billed Dowitcher

H Cotter

I spent approx 90 minutes sea watching from the south end of Ocean Beach this morning- 10/21. Seabird highlights were few - the primary highlight was a mixed flock of shorebirds - approx. 25 dowitchers and a single Dunlin that flew past. These were the first Dunlin and Dowitchers I have seen all fall. One of the dowitchers appeared to be a Long-billed with a significant amount of rufous visible all the way down.
A single Marbled Murrelet was the other highlight.
Numbers of Scoter, Western Grebe and Loons have increased in the last week.
