Jefferson Square Park continues to delight, punching above its weight for an urban, grass-covered parklet, with a WESTERN TANAGER and a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER in addition to 2 BLACK PHOEBES and HUMMERS galore this afternoon.
At Lafayette Square I carefully id’d 3 WESTERN WOOD-PEWEES at one spot, and a fourth a short distance away, 5 ACORN WOODPECKERS, 2 PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, a WESTERN TANAGER, and a collection of the usual suspects. A COOPER’S HAWK unsuccessfully went for a dove, which flew away, leaving a rain of feathers.
