Elk Glen Lake local interest

Brian Turner

A brief stint at Elk Glen Lake this morning turned up a continuing Bullock's Oriole found by Brian Fitch last week to the north of the lake in a cypress along Middle Drive. The large flock of singing Yellow-Rumped Warblers in that area offers a great opportunity to study the vocal differences between Myrtle and Audubon's subspecies. Other notes of local interest: a Snowy Egret foraged in the lake, Wilson's Warbler has arrived, and a small flock of Golden-Crowned Sparrows continues.

Good birding, Brian Turner
