Putting some numbers to the species Josiah reported below and others observed 6:15-9 AM before I had to depart, with Hugh Cotter during the first hour. Josiah may have more to add.  The morning at the Battery started out with variable, mostly NW winds, before turning E/NE as it warmed up, and the migration picking up in parallel.

Surf Scoter 2
Pelagic Cormorant 1
Snowy Egret 3 (flying W over the GG Channel)
Black Oystercatcher 2
ELEGANT TERN 6 -- as noted by Josiah, a tight flock of mid-sized terns working the middle of the GG Channel. Longish orange bills observed via scope studies. Very early, but others, including Josiah, have noted some early vanguards of this species in prior springs.
Caspian Tern 15 -- passing thru the Channel and over BG in 1s and 2s.
Band-tailed Pigeon 80+
Eur. Collared-Dove 30+
Mourning Dove 5
Red-masked Parakeet 12
Vaux's Swift 6
Cassin's Vireo 1
Warbling Vireo 1
W. Kingbird 23
Wrentit 1
Red-br. Nuthatch 1
Ruby-cr. Kinglet 1 (late; singing)
Swainson's Thrush 1 (singing)
Cedar Waxwing 60+
Yel.-rumped Warbler 1
Townsend's Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 2
Black-headed Grosbeak 1 (singing)
Lazuli Bunting 26
Red-winged Blackbird 5
Hooded Oriole 2
Bullock's Oriole 2
Purple Finch 6
Lesser Goldfinch 1

Juv. Song and White-crowned Sparrows were observed being fed by parents in the scrub that borders the Battery.

Also, what were surely the 2 HUMPBACK WHALES observed yesterday from Mile Rock and the Cliff House were observed well into the Channel and near Kirby Cove this morning.  Several HARBOR PORPOISE were observed in the Channel as well.

A good migration morning here with Paul s. Good numbers of western migrants on the move. A few highlights included
Vaux's swifts, dozens of lazuli buntings, at least 20 w kingbirds and as many w tanager.
a Cassin's vireo worked the trees.
And most notable 6 well studied Elegant terns in the channel, presumably failed breeders from the south.
