Trip report - pelagic last Sunday May 4
We had great weather, and a great group of birders on the boat out of Half Moon Bay. Highlights were two Laysan Albatrosses, both in San Francisco county; two Tufted Puffins one in each county. Also Sabine’s Gulls, Black-footed Albatrosses, breeding plumaged Red and Red-necked Phalaropes; Cassin’s and Rhinoceros auklets; Pink-footed and Sooty shearwaters as well as offshore migrant Bonaparte’s Gulls and a late Herring Gull. A fantastic group of friendly Humpback Whales excited us for about 20 minutes.
