Re: [PassengerCarList] Question regarding RPO clerks
Ken Harrison
Mr. DeJoy was (and probably still is) a Trump donor. He also owns several businesses which compete with the USPS for parcel delivery. Parcel delivery is a money maker for the USPS. And he can only be removed by the Postal Service's governing board. Ken

[PassengerCarList] Question regarding RPO clerks
John M. Fiscella
Who was the big donor allegedly rewarded? And what does the reward have to do with the drastic cutback of postal service? John Fiscella >The current USPS problems stem from two issues, the congress forcing the post office to have cash on hand for future retirement benefits and therefore economically crippling them, and the appointment of the current post-master (by a president rewarding a big donor). Neither of those have anything to do with the current president.<

Yahoo Groups Under Attack: Most Yahoo Groups Now Moving to groups.IO
John M. Fiscella
Because Verizon is no longer supporting Yahoo Groups, most Yahoo Groups will be moving to groups.IO.
The SDandA Group and the RRColorStds Group will be following the herd. The transfer process is from the Groups.IO side and is automated. Members of these two Yahoo groups need not do anything to continue to get messages after the groups transfer, except not post to the old Groups or the new Groups until the process is complete. I will send an informative message to all group members when the transfer process is complete. If you have the Group name in a browser bookmark or in an email address book in order to initiate a new message, it will be necessary to change part of the address name from @yahoogroups.com to @groups.IO or add the new address names. In order to upload new files or photos to the new groups, it will be necessary to add a password under groups.IO when you first attempt to upload. You can use the same password as used with the Yahoo group. I would not immediately get rid of the Yahoo group address names, just in case it turns out that Yahoo offers improved terms and support after it sees the abandonment of all their groups. 1Gb is the storage limit for both Yahoo groups and groups.IO, but groups.IO can sell the list owner more than 1 Gb. If Yahoo decides to maintain their groups and offer more than 1Gb for free, that might be an enticement to continue to use it if they extend support. In the event that takes place, I will send an informative message to both sets of groups indicating which of the two groups you should post to. John Fiscella List Owner of SDandA Group and RRColorStds Group

Verizon Wireless Has Purchased Parts of Yahoo
John M. Fiscella
Today, it was announced that Verizon will acquire parts of Yahoo, which will include Yahoo Groups, in early 2017. Whether Yahoo Groups will continue in a similar form or not is unknown at this time. However, Yahoo Groups is one of the most popular services/features of Yahoo, so it is likely that it will continue. I will keep you informed. Re: Test
Hi John, Do you know where this photo was taken? The building/depot? on the right does not look like any depot in San Diego! And it doesn't look like the depots in El Centro or along the SD&A in the Imperial Valley! Mike Reading

Rocky Mountain Express
John M. Fiscella
This is an astounding and spectacular film, about the construction of
the Canadian Pacific transcontinental route, interwoven with archival photographs. The cinematography is breathtaking, and should win an Oscar just for that. The scenes of restored Hudson CP 2816 pulling a passenger train filmed from 3 helicopters are incredible. Some scenes of the Rocky Mountains and train are hair-raising. The sound editing should also get an Oscar. It was shown at the San Diego Reuben H. Fleet Space Theatre in Balboa Park on a half dome giant screen in 16/70mm analog IMAX. Producers were Pietro Serapiglia and Alexander Low of the Stephen Low Company. The cost of the 45 minute film was $6Million and took 5 years to film. It will be available as a DVD/BlueRay as soon as the spherical-to-flat screen transformation is complete. John Fiscella
