Re: What radio DOES work with RigPi-1234 ? ? ?

Tom W5KUB

It works with practically every radio.  Many have been documented.  The biggest issue is that there are many ways to hook up to your transceiver and and all have some specific configuration based on how you select how to hook it up.  I have tested it on recent equipment Icom, yaesu, kenwood, and even have it working on a kenwood ts-570 which is probably 20 years old.

In addition to configuring it for your radio (radio menu settings must also be set for your configuration to match the rigpi) then you need to decide how you will use it.  Locally controlling a rig on your desk, or maybe controlling it across  your inhouse LAN, or even accessing it from outside your home via the internet.  All of these have to be configured to match what you want to do.

There is a lot of good help and experts on the rigpi forum and will help you to get yours going.

Re: "Username Must Be Unique" Problem

See second post about this problem.

"User Name Must Be Unique" Problem - MORE - Limit 5?

W4TZB Wayne

I went back and edited the 5th entry on my Accounts list using the data for the 6th entry that I was trying unsuccessfully to add, and it worked fine ... the User Name was not rejected.

So it is acting like the limit of accounts is a total of 5?

The manual section 1.8 says The maximum number of accounts/radios is limited by the computing resources of RSS. Tests have shown this limit to be 4 or 5 accounts/radios active at one time."   I suppose this is my problem, but I would have thought that "active" meant "connected".  Simply listing should not take resources.

"Username Must Be Unique" Problem

W4TZB Wayne

I have myself at Access Level 1 and 4 others with level 2 access and all work fine.   A total of 5 users.

They are active only one a time.

However when I try to add a 6th user, I get a message "User name must be unique" and then "not saved".

Strange because the User Name IS unique (it's a call sign) and I used pHpMyAdmin to look at the users list and there are only the 5 users shown.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Update to Buster, Mumble Config changed

Michael Foerster

Edited

I'm struggling with the Update from Stretch to Buster to support my R-Pi 4B.
  I did the update using a R-Pi 3B (not a +)

I used Win32DiskManager to backup the configuration as I went along.
I was using a scratch 16GB SD card for the update.

I went through the update yesterday (took a LONG time, like8+ hours, extremely slow download of wolfram-engine).
The last lines of the update showed failures, so I had to re-run the update. (I did save the terminal output, but it's on the Buster config file save in the Win32DiskManager file.)
Once I got into that, there was some configuration questions about Mumble, so I answered "yes" to letting it use the installer's configuration.

Once I got through the second round, and the reboots, things looked OK, except that Mumble won't connect.
I went back to the original configuration (Stretch) looking for a way to save the Mumble configuration, to be able to use it in the Buster version, but there is no save.
Can I just use the /etc/mumble.server.ini and mumble.server.ini.dpkg-dist files (copy and put in the Buster config)?

I'm tempted to re-try the update.
   Any suggestions?

I have this feeling that this may just be the first of the problems that I need to resolve...

I did check and the update does run on my R-Pi 4B.

Howard:
Thanks for clearing me up. I was on the wrong side of the board.
Yes, I have checked with the meter and I have a good connection from Pin 7
on the board to Pin 8 on the mic connector. That is with the jumper block in place.

Anything else I can/need to check.

Thanks

Herb, here is a photo showing pin 6, which is the PTT connection.  The Mic connection is pin 7, as marked on the "top" side of the board.

Well configured DNS proxies really can tell what IP you are on, even if no-ip.com is botching this. You should not need a static IP.

The Raspberry Pi is perfectly capable of using IPV6 as well.

Don and Bruce thanks for your help. Don I didn't get to try your approach as Bruce's worked with the serial cable and driver. I haven't gotten into audio and CW yet. I am sure that will be fun :(

Mike, its been a while since I used Teamviewer. Do you have to add ports to your router (complicated sometimes)?
I was thinking the same thing and was going to fire it up again.
But the thought of going to James's QTH CLIMAX, NC had me interested!

Hi Tom,

I am using the new (version 3.0) Mumble while I Test Raspbian Buster and the Raspberry Pi 4.  It looks much nicer, but I haven’t noticed any other differences in the limited testing I’ve done.  You may be able to update using sudo apt-get install mumble from Terminal, but I compiled it which is more complicated.  Be sure to back up your card first!

Hi Loic,

When you first start RigPi, the RigPi software isn’t started.  I don’t know where the tone is coming from.  The only speaker in RigPi is the one on the CW Keyer board.

We have a number of options at this point to solve the problem.  I assume you don’t have a backup of the memory card from when you first received it.  I will contact you by email to discuss how to proceed.  The problem may be that the memory card has been corrupted because of the faulty power supplies...

I've done that, the key for me was the usb settings.  I followed the instructions for the icom 7xxx and that worked.  However, I'm still having trouble with mumble.
