Several users have reported noise problems from an HDMI cable connected to the Raspberry Pi. If you have a monitor connected, try disconnecting the cable. You can disconnect other cables

Ferrites are our friends... wrap your I/O and power cables through Type 43 or 77 ferrite cores. The "computer" type ferrites are usually only good for VHF and up suppression.

Is this a windows laptop?
Delete your mumble connection on your laptop and try again. Make sure you create a new unique user name like laptop1. If you get a prompt to accept a certificate

The lsusb didn't actually do anything, just confirmed what the pi was seeing. Another check would be run
ls -l /dev/ttyUSB* <enter>
In a terminal after plugging in your usb-232 adaptor.
