@Howard:
Where can I currently access the RigPi server source code (without the non-open source portion) - without buying the device or an SD card?
Therefore, I fully second Jens' proposal to publish

1. For the RigPi's sound card, have the right pins connected on the jumper block for your radio. The jumper module that I got had the notch

Sorry about that. Yes. Your message was in Spam again.
I would very much appreciate a dual session. Just once.
I have picked up a Linux Pocket Guide and that's helping.

Hi Jim,
If you right-click the Speaker icon on the Raspberry Pi desktop do you see the USB soundcard there? If so, select it. In Mumble>Configure>Settings>Audio Input and Output do you see the USB

Re: Backup of memory card
Sooner or later you will have to pull the Rigpi apart. The SD card has
a limited lifespan, and you will either have to buy a new one from
MFJ, or copy a new one from your backup for free.

Re: Backup of memory card
Yes, if the original was bootable, the copy will be bootable too. Ideally, you would write the backup to a SD card of the same type. This way, you won’t run into problems of the image not fitting.
