EERO and RSS

w3gwm@...

I have EERO connected for my cable TV. This uses it's own router that I don't have the password for. There appears to be a port I can connect toon the routr, but I can't access the router to make a port available from the WAN.

Please note, I have not purchased the RSS yet. I think I can make it work with my Kenwood TS-480 on the LAN, but I have a problem because of the router.

I'd like to know I can establish a pathway from the LAN to the WAN before I purchase an RSS. Maybe attach another router to the internet (WAN) and connect the EERO router to it, but I'm afraid the EERO might need a Static IP address.

I talked with a technician at the cable company that supplies my internet, but he didn't seen to understand what I was trying to do, and when he finally did, he didn't know what to do.

Anybody have any ideas?

Hi George,

Take a look at a service called PiTunnel.  It allows you to connect to RigPi from the WAN with no port forwarding required.  PiTunnel provides the added benefit of improved security.

PiTunnel cost $5/month, although they have a free level that allows you to test it.  RigPi would require the subscription service to handle control and Mumble simultaneously.

I tested PiTunnel’s free service, which allowed me to control my radio without audio.

There isn’t a way to connect a router directly to the Internet without a Modem.  If your modem/router has a manufacturer/model you might be able to find a password online.  If you are using a modem with a built-in router, sometimes that router can be bypassed to allow you to use your own router that can do port forwarding.

Re: Rigpi ptt led stop lighting up. Kenwood TS 590s

Hi Loic,

Here are a few things to try.  Rather than the TS-590S, try the TS-570S to see if it makes a difference.

Check out this link:

http://g3nrw.net/TS-590/?page_id=256

There is a second link on the g3nrw page that shows how to use FreeDV (VoIP plus Hamlib) to control the TS-590S.  You will see PTT settings in the second link along with radio menu recommendations.

RSS Tuner Window

herbk@...

Hello all:
I am working thru various issues which will result in my ultimate success with the
RigPi remoting to my ICOM 756PRO3, and perhaps another radio.

But these are separate observations (new thread) and I would look for any thoughts or feedback
to see if anyone else can confirm.

1) On either a PC Browser or the iPhone:  the tuning dial always works. But always,  turning the
dial clockwise raises the frequency: other times it lowers the frequency. The + and - always work in the
correct direction raising and lowering the frequency, but actually "circling the dial" seems to go either way.

2) The labeling of the IC-756 PRO3 in the tuner window between the main and sub is not fully visible.
It appears that ICON 756-PRO 3 is too long and it moves to a second row and cuts the top off of the
radio ID. Is this a simple registration issue and too be ignored? A way to expand that window?

3) I am so far unable to maintain a constant Mumble connection to the server (iPhone only) . After several minutes, I seem
to lose the connection and often have to "re-connect" Mumble to the server. I also notice that sometimes the
receive connection leaves and returns after some delay. I am wondering if this is a phone issue and also
a dropped call issue. I am in a challenged area and sometimes have some cell issues.

Thanks/73/ Herb/N2GEW

OK:
#2 is solved.
I just shortened the radio ID to IC-756
All good on this one!

Sharing user Profiles by Login

I have the RigPi and a IC7300 working pretty well.  I would like to copy the profile I have setup to add to individual logins for users by callsign.  Where do I copy that boiler plate from to add to all the individuals.

Thanks,
Gary

A step further would be to have a Splash screen come up for all users that I could explain the do’s and dont’s and the basics for the boiler plate Macros I have setup.

Thanks again.

I finally solved my problem by changing port 80 to something that my internet provider didn't block.
I have it working outside my local lan

Re: Your help needed!

Alex Charyna

I am able control the radio through RSS & the web browser on my laptop (MacBook Pro) and phone (iPhone).

Via VNC Viewer on my laptop, I am also able to run WSJT-X with RSS on my Icom 7200... I racked up a bunch of 20m FT8 QSOs.

I can even run WSJT-X directly on my laptop and control the radio through hamlib... but I have been *struggling* to get audio working through Mumble.   I'm not much of a rag chewer, so I'm ok with that not working for now. But I would like it working.

Thank you. Now I think I can get my Kenwood TS-480HX connected aand working.

Another VPN service that cost a bit less (2.99/mo when using the 3 year package) is NordVPN.com
They have a guide for installing the NordVPN agent using OpenVPN onto a Raspberry Pi here:

https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/raspberry-pi/openvpn/

They support up to 6 simultaneous connections per account.

Hi Howard,

TS 570s or TS 570d cannot connect. Radio can be read but not connected.
"How to set up the Kenwood TS 590s for digital Data and Digital Voice Operation" gives me nothing than if USB port is choosen. Then a Macro should be in the program for PTT on and Ptt off. Ptt on is ok and tx audio a bit delayed but Ptt off is impossible.

Strange is that Ptt tx/rx worked at first and not working anymore.

IC-7300 almost there but goes into Transmit

kg9hfrank@gmail.com

Seems communication is fine now, but when I boot up RigPi it lights up the PTT bar
When I connect the radio it goes right into transmit.
Using curser clicking the mouse on PTT turns it off momentarily but goes back to red.
Radio stays in transmit
spacebar does the same.
T/R does the same
?

There are several settings within the RigPi browser that can do that.

In Settings, Advanced Radio Settings, PTT in the lower left should be "None"

Also, for Icom radios, in the lower right, Disable Split Polling should be Checked.

Then in Settings, Keyer, the checkbox for "PTT on when radio connected" should be UN-checked.

Try that and let us know how it works.

Which PTT?
Is it the red PTT LED inside the RigPi or the PTT button on a browser on your phone or the PTT button on the browser on the RIgPi itself?
I do not use the RigPi Web interface directly from the RIgPi and in fact close all browsers on the RigPi itself.
There is an interaction anomaly that will be fixed in the next revision of RIgPi software.

Rest to your parameters.

Manually turned RigPi and Icom 7300 off.
Manually turned on 7300
Double click RigPi locally, signed in
Click Connect radio (PTT is off (not RED)
Connect to Radio PTT turns ON
Click PTT it went out and then it goes back to RED
Spacebar also toggles PTT but it goes back to RED
Only disconnecting puts radio back in receive (but PTT stays RED)
I can click it off, readout goes from what was displayed on 7300 to 0000 and then clicking Connect Radio with PTT greyed out
radio is displayed on RigPi, and it goes right to PTT RED
Disconnecting radio the radio goes back to receive.

Re: RigPi quirks with FT991

tmeys@...

Hi Hayden and Howard -

Recently set-up a RigPi MFJ-1234 with my Yaesu FT991.  Spent quite a bit of time adding hamlib 4.0, which seems to work fine, but still have not resolved the S-Meter problem.  Even did a deep dive into the code, so think I have found where that is coded in hamlib, but have not quite worked out the issue.  Looking at the code and comments, I don't think the S-Meter issue has been resolved for the FT991.  I did see some comments about updates for the FT891, which is different.  So I am interested, Hayden, if you were able to get the suggestions in this thread to work.

Looking at output from the command line for hamlib, info seems to make sense, but how it is interpreted by the RigPi S-Meter in the web interface, seems way off scale.

Thanks.

Regards,

Tony
