Hello Howard,
I have search Everything on TS 590 radio but I cannot find anything. CODEC is used. Receive audio is very good.

I noticed on Preferences Audio Device settings that I didn´t have USB Audio CODEC so I changed it but no luck.
PDF file about TS 590S(SG) checked without sucess.

Re: FT-857 No Audio

Good Morning, Howard,

I am hoping to setup a rig with RigPI today.  I have three easy choices in the shop.  A TS-2000, IC-7600, and a FT-857d.  Of the rigs I have listed the only the TS-2000 is cited as Stable so maybe that should be my first choice. It would certainly give me the great flexibility on bands and modes.

Has someone produced a connection guide for the TS-2000?

Hi Kerry,

I want to assure you that getting the IC-7300 integrated with RigPi is normally straightforward.  (I have one sitting right here.)  The 7300 has much documentation and step-by-step instructions in the Forum Files area.  One of our users, Harold, W5ZZT, created a file which you can load into your 7300 to take care of all radio menu settings if you don't want to change settings manually..

https://groups.io/g/RigPi/files/Rig%20Configuration%20Information/ICOM

There is a list of supported radios in the Forum File area here:

https://groups.io/g/RigPi/files/RigPi%20Documentation/Hamlib%20Radio%20List%205-7-19.pdf

There are notes for each radio that indicates testing status.  I've found these notes to be unreliable.

I know of several who are using the TS-2000 successfully.  The FT-857d is a bit more difficult since you have to patch into the Mic connector to take advantage of DSP and other radio audio options.

Hi Howard -

I can check voltage and continuity. I seated the jumper to match the notch on the socket. It looks ok visually, but could have a bad solder joint. Can you direct me to the pinout voltages I should see? I don’t remember which is pin 1 on the socket - the one on the right of the notch looking down on it?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your input!  We are about ready to open the Forum Wiki for anyone to access.  Larry, AC9OX, has been setting it up for several months.  It is an ongoing project, and all contributions will be welcome.

Hi Jeff,

Yes, it is possible there is a  problem with the cable or jumper.  It is not likely that there is a wiring problem in RSS other than the jumper.

Do you have a volt or ohmmeter to check the jumper?

Hi Loic,

Others are using the TS-590, please also search the forum for relevant posts.  I hope a current user can step in to help.

I assume you are using the CODEC audio out and audio in for the radio.  Receive audio is working correctly?

Kenwood TS 590 and no modulation when using remote.

Loic SM5VFE

Hello all!
Anyone here using a Kenwood TS 590s?

I have no modulation at all when using RigPi remote.

Anyone have seen this problem? All parameters in the meny are changed as in the PDF file here in the file area.

Thanks in advance,

Regards from Loic, SM5VFE

Good Morning, Jeff,

I have both LAN wired and wireless.  I will try to set it up wireless to avoid a lightening path for the remote base.

Excellent. Glad to hear it. Are you LAN or also remote via the web?

Hi Terry -

Howard was able to access my RigPi and found that the Mumble app was set to push to talk for the audio input setting. It should have been set to continuous for it to work properly. I am now fully functional using RigPi remotely and ready to make some contacts. Howard is an amazing resource for resolving issues like this and I encourage everyone to keep trying if you have any problems getting RigPi to work. Good luck with your system and let us know how it turns out.

Hi Howard -

I confirmed that the mic on the radio is live and modulates the carrier when I engage the RigPi PTT to transmit. This is true for both SSB and 2m FM modes. Is that due to internal wiring oin the RSS or maybe the jumper plug?

As reported elsewhere you need to start Fldigi a special way for now using sudo.  See this post:

#1396

I am thinking we need some sort of WKI to summarize these activities.

Software update on the RigPi.  Make sure you do that.  I will have some more updates soon.  This work stuff gets in the way of Ham Radio

I do, of course have the KIO3B in the K3s, it’s standard.
Thanks for the reply, I’ll give it a try...

Dear KE9A,

Thank you for taking to time to share your experience setting up the RigPI with your IC-7300. One point of clarification please.

You said "About 5 minutes into reading and started the debugging process the RigPI told me there was an update. POOF things are working locally. “ What did you update, the IC-7300 or the RigPI?

I too will be using an iMac. I have an IC-7610, IC-7600, TS-2000 and FT-857d to consider as a RigPI remote station. I may need a second RigPI

Re: K3s Question...

Mark Weisheimer

It depends upon whether you have the KIO3B USB interface with internal sound card in your K3s or not.
If you have that, then all you need to use is a single USB A to B cable for both audio and CAT control.

All K3(s) can work with RigPi but if you have only the analog TX RX audio interface on the rear of the K3 then your RigPi will need to have its own sound card.

K3s Question...

Michael Foerster

So I have an Elecraft K3s and I want to try the MFJ-1234.

I’ve been reading the forum quite a bit and I just want to verify:
I can get by with the MFJ-1234MB (no sound card or keyer) and I can connect the Audio & Comms through the existing K3s serial/audio USB cable.
(I’m aware of the power on pin that’s required through the 15 pin connector.)

Is is this correct?

After following the directions for setting up Mumble with the IC-7300 RX audio is working on my iPhone and on an iPad.  (Note both running iOS 13.1 beta).  I will test TX audio later this evening.

NOTES: The mumble iOS client is not an iPad app, while it does work it is an iPhone display and it is always in portrait mode.  The Mumble App on Windows is not retina aware and the screen is weird and hard to see on my Lenovo Yoga 920.  Audio routing on macOS and Windows will need some adjustment so the mic and speaker are not hearing each other.

I would highly suggest that one of the first steps be update the RigPi software!

Hey, Bo. Yes, pick the IC-7300 as the radio on the left and change the name to IC-7610 on the right.

Hi Jeff,

I don't blame you for being discouraged, but I have 100% confidence we can get the 857 going.

I'm not clear on why disconnecting the mic would be related to the report of an unknown error...

Let's back up a minute on the mic.  You are connecting RigPi audio through the rear DATA connector on your radio.  That DATA connector has a audio input that should come from RigPi.  It also has a PTT connection.  The PTT connection switches the audio input from the mic to the DATA connector.  This is done so the radio won't pick up mic noise when you are using the DATA connector as an audio source.  Since the current problem is no transmit audio, one possible cause is that the DATA PTT connection isn't switching the audio.  My proposed test was to put the radio into SSB transmit from RigPi, then key the mic to see if audio is still getting through that path.  If it is, then that narrows the problem.

Hi Bo,

The CI-V address should be \0x98, using a backslash.

The Power macros must start with *1w<space> for Icom radios.  There is a possibility the 7610 has a slightly different command to set power levels.  Please check the CAT programming manual for the 7610.  You will see a popup message since the Icom sends back a Hex code, but it shouldn't disconnect the radio.

I'm not clear on what you are asking in your left/right question.

I agree, a bit of wine is always a fun project!  :-)
