A typical 120vac to 5vdc power supply accepts 100 to 240 vac. Do your AC mains fluctuate out side of those limits?

Grover: ? The distribution is in the micro SD card, not in the RPi. If your RPi does not boot from a good bootable SD card, it may be broken. Are you seeing anything on a monitor when power is applied

Salt to taste. I usually do NOOBS as it allows me to put '/' on a HD or SSHD. Then the SD card is read only (/boot) and should last forever. ;-)
