That probably depends on how much RAM your Pi 4 has. Swap is just a place for the OS to place memory when there is insufficient RAM attached.

If you read the User Guide for Direwolf, you will find that even though VOX is supported, it is not recommended and goes into explanation why.

Direwolf can do the digipeater and igate natively. If this is a remote system (e.g. mountaintop) you can keep it pretty simple. A review of the User Guide will show you many capabilities.

If using DRAWS™ with Direwolf, it can do PTT using GPIO. Direwolf supports PTT a variety of ways, look at the User Manual (online) for examples.
