Did you open a Terminal on the Pi and type in "KillHotspot" to liberate wlan0?

Even after that something is clogging-up wifi for me as well.

Wifi works fine with a generic Buster-Raspian install.

I ran JS8Call and it looks fine - just have to sort a setting that's off.

The "scd.ptc" thing may be part of the quasi-proprietary
Winlink Pactor system ...

An impressive setup. However I cannot get the ethernet configured.
for network preferences the only interface is enxb827eb8e5b33   with a green download arrow   no eth0 option.
also wi-fi is not installed.

I tried a couple 'fixes' I found and totalled the SD card and started over.
apt-get update doesn't work. It appears to get some of the files needed but then chokes.
It keeps looking for http://scs.ptc.com

I tried the sofware install. It appears to work, but the programs don't actually get installed.

Stuck until help arrives.
Looks like a great system tho.

Re: No Wireless Interfaces Found - W3DJS Image v2.0

I remembered reading something and tried to find the note but there
were so many posts to look through ... thanks!

That gave me the wlan0 tab in Network Preferences - but no matter
what settings I try I cannot get it to connect.

Oddly, I have yet to find a single picture of the Network Preferences
window on the Internet - with examples of settings in each of the fields.

(IVp6 is disabled in the wifi router settings here.)

Thanks,

David KD4E

Good evening David.
See this paragraph in the announcement of the image:
One more caveat: This image comes pre-installed to operate as a wireless Hotspot for field operations. If you are using this at home, and don't want to operate as a Hotspot, then open a Terminal on the Pi and type in "KillHotspot" (without the quotes) and hit return. Networking will then operate normally.

Disable the Hotspot and wifi will work.
Or see my note #9549 on 31 Oct.

Country shows as set - I read that failure to set that can nix wifi.

Do I need to disable SSH and/or VNC for wifi to work?

BTW: hwinfo and several other hardware info commands aren't recognized.

Thanks,

No Wireless Interfaces Found - W3DJS Image v2.0

David KD4E <dcolburn@...>

Sorry for all the questions ...

With W3DJS Raspberry Pi Ham Radio Image v2.0 loaded
I'm unable to get Wifi to work.

"No Wireless Interfaces Found".

Has anyone else reported this?

The Wifi worked fine with a generic Buster Raspian load.

Thanks!

Re: Increase Font?

David KD4E <dcolburn@...>

I thought I'd done that before - but it worked this time.

I'd like even larger - but this helps.

Thanks!

Re: Increase Font?

There is an Appearance Settings widget which lets you “set defaults” for a Large Screen.
Does that do anything good?

Pull down Raspberry in upper left.
Go down to Preferences then Appearance Settings, then the “defaults” pane.  Then click on Set Defaults for large screens.

I just noticed that VNC Server - Service Mode has been activated.

Is that correct?

Could that interfere with USB communications with my IC-7100
in any way?

Thanks,

Clarification:

Did I need to set up Hamlib or flrig for JS8Call to work correctly
with my Icom IC-7100 - or is JS8Call self-contained?

In MX Linux I ran BalenaEtcher on the 5.9g compressed .zip file
and burned it to the microSD.

It went fine.

Popped it into the RPi4B & it booted up fine.

I'm trying to get JS8Call working ... what are the correct Audio selections, please?

Are the Alsa USB Burr Brown defaults correct?

On my laptop the settings are:

Rig: Icom IC-7100

CAT Control

/dev/ttyUSB0, 19200, 8, 1, XON/XOFF

Rig Options

PTT: CAT, Mode: Data/Pkt, Split: None

WDYT?

Thanks,

David KD4E

Don't forget, after you select the radio button for your desired choice, you must scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the "Save" button.  Personally, I like seeing a "Save" button at the top and bottom of a webpage.

After you click the "Save" button, that page should refresh and you should see a green message that "Your changes have been saved".

David,

First, I haven't used the program(s) you're trying to compile but I have compiled many other programs on Debian and its derivatives over the years, making me a bit familiar with what some compile errors mean.

Without seeing the complete error message, it kinda looks like you might be missing some -dev packages. Did you run this line from the site you provided a link to that installs the -dev(elopment) packages?
sudo apt-get install libfltk1.3-dev libjpeg9-dev libxft-dev libxinerama-dev libxcursor-dev libsndfile1-dev libsamplerate0-dev portaudio19-dev libpulse-dev

I stopped at that point as I believe that's not OK.

Roger all… As I said, there are numerous Windows solutions to the problem.  The one I’m familiar with is PowerArchiver which does it also.

Perry,

7-Zip or newer WinZips can deal with the compressed tarball.

Another possibility is Pipewire, which seems like a newer implementation of pulseaudio combined with some of the features of jack.

Not sure if this works on the Pi though...
