Weather balloons (sondes) only transmit with 100mw (on 403 megs) ...
With a simple groundplane or a short yagi (6el only) I can decode them in a
distance of 200km .... so distance is not the problem ... it is LOCATION

If you find a high spot on a mountain or high building ... and have a bit of
antenna-gain ... go figure

Just curious, but how could such low-power transceivers be of any
practical use for packet? Wouldn't the RF footprint be so limited that
hardly anyone in the neighborhood would be able to use it? Am I missing
something here... or is the plan to use an amplifier for wider coverage?
