Yes.  If you run sudo raspi-config from a terminal window, go to advanced settings and resolution and can set it there.  If it doesn't give you the option there, edit /boot/config.txt. Uncomment the force hdmi line, then set group and mode to what you want and it basically ignores the EDID.  Then you can go to the desktop after you reboot, go to preferences, display and set the resolution from there that you want

My RPi works with all but a 12" HDMI monitor I bought off Amazon. It does really crazy things. Sometimes losing Bluetooth connections, or WiFi connection or just freezes. It only does this with this one monitor. With another I can leave it running overnight and it still functions normally. I tried going into raspi-config to see what screen resolutions are available, but the only choice is Default Resolution. I've read that the problem may be the EDID info in the monitor. Is there a way to fix this?
