I use the NOOBS downloaded from raspberrypi.org. Run it and it will load the latest version of the operating system. Once to get everything set up (password change, etc) do a “sudo alt get synaptic”. This will install synaptic in your pi in your drop down menus. It is a repository of numerous files available for the pi. There is a directory on synaptic specifically for amateur radio.
