Can anyone identify the 50hz signal on 28086.35 mark?
Sounds a little like 300baud ASCII and has been there
since Saturday with no fading at s3, but can not decode.

WF1B "retirement"

Ray Ortgiesen WF1B <wf1b@...>

Hi Guys/Gals,

As you may have noticed, I've been real quiet lately. Well, my business is doing real well (that's the business from where I support my family). I've decided that it is time, after 12 years, of discontinuing the wf1b reflector. I am deeply saddened that I've reached this decision, but feel it is what must be done.

Trey has graciously offered to host a new reflector, IN PLACE OF, and not, IN ADDITION TO, the wf1b-rtty list. This list, WF1B-RTTY, will be shut off very soon. There will be a small www site, for continued downloading of the program. The address will be announced at a later time.

I wish to thank everyone who has purchased software from me over the years, it has been a genuine pleasure working with you to create a fine software program. I wish to thank HAL communications especially, they have been a great help to me, from the very beginning so many years ago, when I first called Bill Henry, and explained what I was up to, he sent equipment my way, he and his company are fine folks. Thank you Bill and crew.

There are so many people I want to thank, now I'm wary of starting to list any, for fear I will forget someone. But, I'll list a few ... Eddie, Ron, Glenn, Trey, Tyler, Rick, Dick, Dale, Jim, Peter, Bill, Joe, Jodie, Ron .......... the list is so long.... I can't remember all the names right now. Some of you have had my software since version 1! That was 1989... imagine that. Back then a 4MHz 8086 was still a decent machine. Times have changed.

So in parting, the old wf1b-rtty list is no longer known as the wf1b rtty list, but simply the rtty reflector. Collectively, "you" are a very knowledgeable and talented group, continue to share support and rtty knowledge.

Best wishes to all of you in your future contest events. Your friend,

diddles,

Ray

(This message was sent to rtty@..., you may have received a copy of this via the old wf1b-rtty list. Again, the wf1b-rtty list will be shut down very soon.)

And there was! In the header of the subscription message you received
were several URLs. One of them was the URL I posted earlier which took
you to the main page for that mailing list, with a description of where
to go to unsubscribe.

FYI, we did the SAME thing with the SD-USER list this past weekend,
transferring the list from one server (blacksheep.org) to another
(contesting.com). Everone got a subscription notice that also included
instructions on how to unsubscribe. Neither Paul EI5DI nor I have
received a SINGLE complaint about this.

I personally see no problem transferring a set of addresses from one
list to a like-kind list when the former list is to be de-commissioned.
After all, you did sign up for the first list voluntarily, didn't you.

Please no flames - it isn't worth it.

Firstly I would like to thank WF1B, W6OTC, AD1C and the rest for their
nice comments during the process of QSYing Ray's mailing list to the
new QTH and to give everyone a status report.

It appears that in the process of bringing up the message archiver
this morning I unwittingly stuffed things up. Then moments ago I
accidentally fixed the problem when I got the message archiver
working, so it looks like we are now QRV. Suchadeal.

Seeing as how the new rtty@... list is a *replacement* for
an existing mailing list that was about to go QRT at any moment, I
gratuitously added all of Ray's subscribers when I set it up.
Generally speaking setting up mailing lists this way (on an "opt-out"
basis) is considered to be in poor taste, but in this case I judged it
to be the correct course of action and acted accordingly.

I regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that
*every single message* generated by this mailing list includes a
header line that explains how to unsbuscribe (opt out):

| List-Unsubscribe: <http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/rtty>,
| <mailto:rtty-request@...?subject=unsubscribe>

Thank you for your consideration.
