White River line (AR): another one that got away
I missed riding this tourist line--another victim of rising liability insurance in the 90s.

Now submerged station?
This must have been a station along the GC&SF Paris branch which was submerged
by the construction of Lake Lavon in the early 1950s.
I wonder why it was dubbed Clear Lake before Lake Lavon was even

"Gumbo Gravel"--a Cotton Belt specialty
Interesting short story here about a special mix material made for right-of-ways.
I wonder where those pit lakes are and the exact location of the Collin County historical marker.

Re: Tyler's Freon Flyer
As a native of Tyler I am enjoying the discussion. I recall a few years ago the UP did a tie replacement project on the ex-MP line, so this leads me to believe they planned to continuing the service

The last time I checked all four customers north of diamond no longer receive or ship via the railroad. The rock you refer to is for a batch plant next to it that makes asphalt.
And ship occasional

Re: Tyler's Freon Flyer
I understand we are talking about the IGN. There are 3 or 4 small customers north of the Cotton Belt. A fertilizer company, a metals company, and a couple of scrap yards.
Regarding the MM cement

Yes on the cotton belt that is active daily
I believe the question was about the old IGN that intersects the SSW at the depot in Tyler.

Re: Tyler's Freon Flyer
If you look at Google Maps imagery of the yard there in Tyler, while it's not the biggest yard in the world, it is full. They do run a several times a week train from Tyler Yard to Hill Yard in
