Trying out using the in-browser attachments feature. This might be an inferior reading experience for everyone compared to putting the images in HTML e-mail from a proper client, but I thought it'd be best if I tried this method out at least once. |

Nathan: the attached images worked well for me, as my email client (Mozilla Thunderbird) simply displays them underneath the body of the message. It's also how I sent my last Quikscript letter. If anyone does have issues or finds it less convenient, do let us know!

Seems fine to me. I feel a bit odd going again so soon, but it's been a month and, at least in the States, holidays are starting to come up fairly soon, taking away from hobby time (this week is the week of Thanksgiving). I'd like to explicitly invite everyone who's subscribed to join in anytime. If you'd like to join in but don't know how to get a picture of your handwriting into a file we can all read, please do ask on the list. I'm taking screenshots of a Note in Apple Notes, and I suspect Moira is doing the same. My hunch is that Brad is using a flatbed scanner. If you have an i(Pad)OS device, you may want to consider using the document-scanner functionality in Notes and then posting the generated .pdf file as an attachment. Once again, if you're getting stuck with the technical side of things, please do ask. |

Happy American Thanksgiving to those who partake – and to those who don't, happy Thursday/Friday. :) Nathan – in my letter I reference some advice provided by my friend who bakes. Here is the advice: I’ll do the initial mixing with a wooden spoon, usually keeps my hands cleaner through that stage. What you can do from there too is keep your hand wet while mixing and work quickly. So let’s say a recipe calls for you to mix the dough into a shaggy ball, and let it rest before you perform any folds. Mix the dough with a wooden spoon, wash that as you would any dirty dishes. 10-30+ minutes later when you go to fold the dough, have a bowl of water ready. Dip your hands, and fold the dough. The water should prevent the dough from sticking to your hands. I can usually get through 2-3 coil folds or a complete rotation of quarter folds before needing to rewet. For those of you who are interested in the process of getting this handwritten script into the post here is the process I used:
I wrote entirely on my iPad in the notes app using the apple pencil. I then opened my laptop, printed to pdf, and then uploaded the pdf to this post. Happy reading of my rather sketchy script! all the best & seasons greetings Moira |

This time, I tried out a different method of digitising my writing. I think I might go back to writing on paper and scanning that in next time, as I can write much more neatly that way!

This is printed to PDF from my iPad, with the page breaks manually adjusted so my readers largely don't need to try and read across page breaks. (Brad Neil's OneNote-generated PDF above duplicates a bit on either side of a page break, making this sort of thing unnecessary.) I'm not sure I'll bother again, but I'm glad I tried it out. More technical notes, later, in Orthodox, for two reasons:

My first post on this site as a letter in the group. Looking forward to many more!

Thanks to Nathan for the information on how to create a pdf from iOS notes app. Here is my last letter paginated in pdf.

Tried the sheet feeder on the flatbed scanner this time instead of futzing around with Notes. |

Apologies about the particularly wonky letter this time. I didn't want to use lined paper because I knew the lines would overpower the pencil lettering (which I processed after scanning, to make it appear darker). Oh well, it's still good to try out something different for the sake of it!

Hi group. For my debut post, I've tried transcribing Peter's last letter into junior and replied in one document. Advice and feedback would be greatly appreciated. 💕 Johana On Sat, May 27, 2023, 5:39 p.m. Peter <pedrocottontail@...> wrote:
