This concept was introduced by Lenz and also offered in Zimo decoders to control auto braking/stopping on certain sections of track. Pretty neat!

There's no "manual" (at least yet) for all the new controls on the latest version of CV Manager (version 2.5.0.9), but it's pretty intuitive. Sound select, balance, etc.--just start clicking through

Regarding your first point I had this happen to me with a Tsunami I had purchased but never installed as I moved on to other locomotives and (mostly) building a layout to run them on! It didn't

I think the "program CV50 first, then CV49 second" would refer to reading the entire CV from right to left. So if you had CV52.10.1, you'd enter CV50 = 1, CV49 = 10, CV52 = (desired value)
