I found a way to install the drivers with the latest Win10 updates. I will send it to both Peter and Alex directly as it is a PDF.

Greg, have you tried installing the drivers lately in a computer that has been updating Windows continuously?  My friend and I used your exact method from your website in two different computers with Windows 10 and encountered the blocking message.  Vinnie fooled with and found the only way around it was to use the command prompt.  Let us know what you find.  Thanks,

Peter

There's also 2 different drivers, depending on what generation of tools you are using... I'm using the older driver with the older CV Manager since I need the "engineering" menu for features that are not accessible on the current CV Manager

Hallo all,

I had the same problem. Would like to know the procedure with the prompt?

I have been unsuccessful in installing the SiLab drivers in any of my win 10 computers, signed in as administrator using the 3 workarounds recommended.  A friend who is a retired IT guy finally figured it out.  He successfully installed the drivers and software by using the command prompt (basic DOS vs Windows) to execute the .exe installer file, instead of Windows.  This bypasses the block Windows has on all the latest upgrades.

Re: Which qsi decoder

Alan Wightmore

I have 2 Atlas gold FM train masters, they came with QSI decoders. I swiped them out for ESU select decoders. You can put in whatever decoder you want but remember to remove the  2 capacitors soldered to the motor.

Re: Which qsi decoder

Hi,
If you want to use a QSI decoder they are available from QSI industries they are located in Portland, OR. I would install a sound decoder from any of the other manufactures. Unless you're familiar with the QSI decoders and have JMRI programming is not easy.
If you have any more questions please PM me,

Re: Setting Alternate Horn permanently?

Dan Howard

KJ,

Thank you!

Was able to successfully select an appropriate horn using the "Cut & Paste Sounds" feature.

Hi Dan,

If I remember correctly, the default primary horn selection for the Q2 is chosen during the locomotive sound-set installation.   The sound-set installation is done using the Q2Upgrade (now labelled Quantum Upgrade) via the QSI Programmer.

Best regards,
KJ

Setting Alternate Horn permanently?

Dan Howard

After reading through the manual and searching the group posts, was wondering if it is possible to set the Alternate Horn as the default "primary" horn so that I don't have to select the Alt. horn each time.

Specifically seeking to do this on a locomotive with a Q2 sound set. I have both the Quantum Programmer and JMRI for programming the decoder.

Re: QSI programmer

Al

Thanks for all the answers. I'm using a Windows 10 laptop.
The reason that I wanted to use the programmer was to see if I could make the FWD and REV lights work properly. I've been using JMRI which has several options for the lights, the FWD light dims going in REV but can't get the REV light to dim when going forward. By the way the loco is a Proto 2000 GN SD 7 which runs long hood forward, which is normal for GN.
At this point I can leave things as they are since the SD 7 very seldom runs in REV as it runs as an automated train on the Museum display.
Again would appreciate the info on downloading the proper driver.
Al

I just noticed your post.  I have about seven locos with QSI I need to setup.  Haven’t set up my work area yet but in the next week or so will have to.  I am using a decent PC running Windows 10 and I think it is 64bit as it is a I7 CPU.  Do you have the proper driver for that?  I do have the newer link that was on here a day or so ago and the old link that Kelly gave to me but not sure what is there.

I purchased the NCE Power Cab just for a test track and will have this PC for testing and programming Sound Decoders.  I have Titans, the OEM ones in Atlas Gold Series, and now also SoundTraxx decoders.

Thanks

May I know which OS you are using? Ver.3.2 was being used for WinXP. I have Silabs drivers for WinXP to Win10
