Re: Quantum Magnum Files

Greg Elmassian

The Quantum Magnum is NOT the same as the Titan, and takes different files.

The files you want are gone from Josh's site.

I encourage you to join my QSI Solutions group, where I am posting files and more information: (my focus is on the large scale products, and the last work done on them)
https://groups.io/g/QSI-Solutions

Also I have pretty extensive documentation on the files for the Quantum Revolution / Magnum: (entry page on my site for the QSI products)
https://elmassian.com/index.php/dcc/specific-manufacturers/qsi-equipment

Note, there are many sub-pages with more detail, heed the RED text at the top of the page

Tim,

Are you looking on the WIX site?

Re: Question for QSI

Thanks Joo!   However, that doesn't answer my specific question.  I'm looking for specific technical help from QSI regarding HO files in a Titan FX-DO.   They seem to be ignoring my questions.   Kelly???

Re: Question for QSI

I installed G scale sound files in my FX-DO. Had some error message but skipped that and it works fine. Except the ports...

What happens if I install HO firmware into an O scale decoder?   I've got a Titan - FX/DO O scale decoder with the wrong sound file installed.   I need the sound for an ALCo 251 12 cylinder prime mover.   Currently, there are no O scale versions of that file available.   What would happen if I installed the HO scale Titan version of the ALCo 251?

I wonder why QSI does not know that.

Re: Q1a decoders shut down

My problem was I was using one 8 ohm speaker, whereas these decoders should use two 8 ohms in series which is 16 ohms.
When I added the second speaker, the problem went away.

Technical question for QSI

kjlovesya

I've got an O scale C424 and a QSI Titan FX-DO decoder to be mated with it.    I only recently noticed that the new decoder came with the wrong sound file.  The prime move is the ALCo 251 but the sound file is actually an ALCo 244 engine.   I checked the available files for an ALCo 251 sound file, suitable for the O scale decoder, but found none.

The HO scale ALCo 251 sound file has been available for at least 6 years.  Why is it not yet available in O scale?

What would happen if I installed the HO scale ALCo 251 Titan sound file into the O scale decoder?

Best regards,
KJ

Okay, didn’t realize they were on a tester. 😁

When I tested the Q1a's I forgot that they needed a 16 ohm speaker load.  My mate, Marcus, reminded me.
So I hooked up 2 speakers in series and all the decoders tested OK.

Thanks for your input.

Erik,

Have you checked your wheels?  These are often the symptoms of dirty wheels or dirty track.

I presume it is a hardware heat detection problem.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks Ed,
Actually I found what I was looking for: The response by M R (didn't leave his name) to the topic "Q1 decoders" on the next page.
So thanks to M R, Bob Cochran and you, who prompted me to look for it.

BTW, I meant a V7 decoder not Rev 7, and for info, Paint opens a .part file.

Banjo Trains,

Can you upload a photo of the decoder, also it would be nice if you include your name so we know how to address our replies.

Can anyone tell me the pinout of a Rev 7 decoder, wider and shorter than the normal one.
It has 2 caps mounted inboard and a chip labeled U28B  (C) 2005.
It has the 2-pin speaker and track sockets labeled, but there is a 4-pin socket next to the chip and an 8-pin socket at the opposite end.
Which is the motor, power, headlight & rear-light, etc?

Thank you.

Re: Quantum programmer not functioning

Greg Elmassian

Joo,

Let's start at the beginning...

Run the quantum programmer software.... then on the following page, follow the instructions: Firmware version/upgrading

https://elmassian.com/index.php/dcc/specific-manufacturers/qsi-equipment/qsi-programmer-hw-a-sw

This testing will verify:
  • the programmer is responding
  • the output stage is working (be sure you are connected to a QSI decoder)
  • the firmware version

Let's start by verifying the basics

Greg

Re: Quantum programmer not functioning

Joó Ferenc

Greg,

The loco works fine on regular DCC throttle.

When using CV Manager, there is sound so cables are good. But any further action such as switching on a function or using a function button for sound brings up the error codes.

When I try to retrieve loco info with Quantum Upgrade, I get an error message, too.

The CV Manager is version 3.1.0.7 from 2016.
Quantum Upgrade is version 3.1.0.0.

How do you know what firmware is on the programmer?

Looks to me like the Programmer has a hardware fault. If I had a wiring diagram for the Programmer, a guy here could check which component is bust,

That looks like an error from the Silicon labs driver.

Let me ask a few things:
1. what version of firmware is on your programmer
2. what version of CV Manager are you using
3. what version of Quantum Update are you using?
4 running Quantum update, can you read the loco firmware from the decoder?
