AFAIK, the only person on this forum who *IS* QSI is Kelly. Not sure why he (or QSI) is not hosting the files in their website, but I seem to recall that even he referred QSI customers to Josh Shedaker's (partially broken) site for QSI sound files and other software/documentation downloads. What are we to do? I also suspect that Shedaker's website does in fact have the latest versions of the files - I don't recall any new products or sounds being released after Titan. That may not be the official site but it is the only site as far as I know. Ask Terry from QSI if there is one.

Greg, The following is my opinion on the QSI support effort. Most of the members on this group are long term supporters of QSI, we stay in support of QSI because the Titan is still the best and most sophisticated DCC decoder on the market. We would all love to have more info., updates and new products but these things are going to take extra time due to the lose of Josh, QSI did not just loose one person, Josh was the QSI support arm, and with his exit QSI had to scramble to cover multiple areas of support without any prior notice. QSI Isn't Microsoft or Apple so when they lose a worker like Josh it could take years to recover from that (how many sound engineers would be willing to work for a model railroad decoder company?, I sure they are in demand) it would take a person that has a love for model railroading sounds and the model railroad hobby itself. Most of us are willing to wait and hope that QSI will some day be able to return to the level of support that was present before Josh made his exit but until then we wait patiently and hope for the best!. that is not OFFICIAL, note the topic title please!!!! Josh Shedaker is not an employee of QS Industries. Surely there is a new version by now. And that site is falling apart, files are disappearing... So, maybe I have to email one of the QS Industries people eventually... I'll wait a bit longer and see if one reads this thread. Greg |

Josh is gone, and he was not a QS Industries employee. Very weird that these 2 softwares are not somewhere hosted by QS Industries. The latest versions I have are CVManager 3.1.0.39 QuantumUpgrade 3.1.0.5 Anyone have anything newer? I have the groups.io site QSI-Solutions, I guess I better start uploading files there.... Greg |

Sounds like a lot of stuff to do if you’re running DCC; I’m not. I’m DC. Anyway, I’m not giving up on my BLI locomotive. Getting some good suggestions. Thanks, Michael On Jan 21, 2021, at 9:29 PM, cvlwrnut@... wrote:

Thanks, Andrew. I was thinking maybe there was something wrong with the drive train because of the vague rumbling sounds. I’ll check in to that.

All
BLI engines are known to have cracked gears. It is very easy to replace the gear and BLI has new gear for $1.00 plus shipping. It will take about an hour to replace, you will need a wheel puller. Make sure you quarter the wheels (Make sure it in gage)
Thanks

I am brand new to the forum, and I recently acquired a BLI 2-8-2 steam locomotive (my first BLI, decorated as a Southern, #6326) at an estate sale. I run DC on my layout, and understand that these locos will work on DC. When I powered it up, it made all the steam/pumps/etc. sounds, but didn't move. I contacted BLI, and they determined that the loco is over 15 years old, and QSI equipped. I decided to buy a QSI Sidekick on ebay, and it works great (controls whistle and bell fine, but the loco still wouldn't move. To make a long story short, BLI suggested I "reset" the loco, and I did so, using the remove/replace the black jumper method. When I did this, I got three hoots from the whistle, which indicates that a reset was accomplished. However, upon powering up again, no movement, but I did get some vague rumbling sounds from the loco. |

Re: BLI Locomotive that won't move
Oh Bill. And how is that going to help? cvlwrnut: A name is nice. We are friends here. I do not recommend getting rid of a QSI. I have one that was a problem, and got it resolved. I may not be able to help you, but I'm sure there are others on this forum who can. When reset, it should have gone back to 03. Not your loco number. Did you try operating it on 03? If not, that's what you need to do. And after that, you can change back to the loco number. This is only a first step. After you try this, come on back.

BLI actually suggested that I pose my questions here on this forum, so I'm asking if anyone else had had a similar experience, and how did you resolve it? Thanks! |

Greg,
Couple of weeks ago I was also searching for that info. When I found it I wanted to post it to the group's Files section (to make it easy to find), but for some reason I'm not allowed to upload anything to the Files section. I contacted the group's owner about this, but never received a response. Not sure that the problem is. . . Peteski |

I looked on the qsindustries.com web sit, not there. Are people supposed to request these softwares by email? Also what are the current versions? I'd sure like a reply from a QSIndustries employee. Thanks, Greg |

Re: Older QSI decoder
Hi Don,
I'm not familiar with a version 5 decoder. However, you can easily try turning off the 'acknowledgment' that interferes with double CV changes. Try POM --> CV62 = 0 . Then try running the JMRI Decoder Pro. In any case, you are missing out on a heckuva lot of fun. Personally, I'd swap the decoder for a Titan and see what a real high end decoder can do. :-) Best regards, KJ |

Re: Older QSI decoder
dlgertz <dlgertz@...>
I just checked and CV7 = 5.
This decoder does not show up on the latest version of JMRI, that I can tell and the tech at BLI said that it’s obsolete, doesn’t work with JMRI and is no longer supported. When our club train master tried to program the address using JMRI, the head/tail lights became deactivated and a number of other functions also either disappeared or were changed to totally different keys.
I bought the Heavy Mikado used and have no documentation. It evidently was made around 2004.
This is the email I got from BLI. Hello Don, We no longer support the QSI equipped locos. They have been discontinued, and the one you have there is over 17 years old. I can tell you that it will not be compatible with JMRI or Decoder Pro though. Any support documentation we have for it can be found here under "QSI Quantum Sound Equipped Locomotives": https://www.broadway-limited.com/supportdocumentation.aspx I will lay out the most common support tips and tricks for you here on a QSI loco: Train Service Depot is authorized by us to do upgrades though, so if you want to inquire with them on what they will or will not accept for an upgrade and their pricing, they can be found online here: http://www.trainservicedepot.com/ On 7/25/2020 10:32 PM, orders@... wrote: Enter your name:First Name: DonLast Name: GertzYour email address:Email Address: dlgertz@...Re-Enter Your Email Address: dlgertz@...Your phone number: 5036925963Tell us about the product you're writing in about:Item # (the 3 or 4 digit large-font number on the product's box): 225Date of purchase (mm/dd/yy): 7/24/20Your shipping address (in the event we need to RMA your item):Shipping address: dlgertz@...Your message: Hi,I bought a used Broadway Limited USRA Heavy 2-8-2 Unlettered Mikado, #225, yesterday and am not sure what decoder it uses or which locomotive to specify when addig it to my NMRA Panel Pro roster.
