Re: Where is the official download site for CVManager and Quantum Upgrade programs?

Greg,
I'm fairly certain that what is on Josh's site is the  latest versions of everything.  QS Industries has not been very active in developing new software.

So there is a "sister" group called 'QSI Solutions" on group.io?  How active is it?

I also wonder if you will be able to upload anything to this group - I tried and was not able to. I contacted the group owner about it, but I never received a reply.

Clearly Josh's site has not been updated in a long time, so what is there for these programs must be out of date.

Re: Quantum programmer not functioning

That looks like an error from the Silicon labs driver.

Let me ask a few things:
1. what version of firmware is on your programmer
2. what version of CV Manager are you using
3. what version of Quantum Update are you using?
4 running Quantum update, can you read the loco firmware from the decoder?

Greg,

When I try to turn on the sound with F6 or the lights with F0 (i.e. not driving the motors), I get the messages. I am not sure what you mean by JMRI throttle. Is that the built-in throttle of the Quantum CV Manager? As I only used the QSI supplied Quantum CV Manager.

One error message I get says:
SI_Read requested=4 read=2

The other:
SI_Read returns SI_REAF_TIMED_OUT

There is a very quiet short buzz from the programmer and the red light starts blinking quickly.

Thanks!

Üdvözlettel,

It is not common for the programmer to fail.

But if you try to run a loco with the JMRI throttle, you can definitely destroy the output transistors drawing too much current.

In general, do not do this with any G scale loco, confine yourself to exercising sounds, not the motor.

But first, what exactly is the error message?

My first guess would be that a Windows update did something to the drivers for the programmer. You can try to reinstall those and see if that makes a difference. (I don't know what platform you're using to run the driver, so I'm going to assume Windows 10. I run mine from an old XP machine which Microsoft no longer tries to update.)

Gentlemen.

I hear all of you, trust me. With all this covid stuff going on, my wife and I have been juggling shifts as well as the grandson.
All of the files you seek are archived and property of QSI. Josh lost the rights when he bailed, however, some of his wix files are still out there.
I have been tasked with updating the QSIndustries.com web page.  Trust me, it wont look as snazzy as Josh's, but it should give you all the links you need.
In the mean time, please feel free to email me at qsindustries224@....

Thanks for all your support.

Well Greg,
AFAIK, the only person on this forum who  *IS* QSI is Kelly.  Not sure why he (or QSI) is not hosting the files in their website, but I seem to recall that even he referred QSI customers to Josh Shedaker's (partially broken) site for QSI sound files and other software/documentation downloads.  What are we to do?

I also suspect that Shedaker's website does in fact have the latest versions of the files - I don't recall any new products or sounds being released after Titan.

That may not be the official site but it is the only site as far as I know.   Ask Terry from QSI if there is one.

Greg,

The following is my opinion on the QSI support effort.

Most of the members on this group are long term supporters of QSI, we stay in support of QSI because the Titan is still the best and most sophisticated DCC decoder on the market.

We would all love to have more info., updates and new products but these things are going to take extra time due to the lose of Josh, QSI did not just loose one person, Josh was the QSI support arm, and with his exit QSI had to scramble to cover multiple areas of support without any prior notice. QSI Isn't Microsoft or Apple so when they lose a worker like Josh it could take years to recover from that (how many sound engineers would be willing to work for a model railroad decoder company?, I sure they are in demand) it would take a person that has a love for model railroading sounds and the model railroad hobby itself.

Most of us are willing to wait and hope that QSI will some day be able to return to the level of support that was present before Josh made his exit but until then we wait patiently and hope for the best!.

Yeah, there's no place to get the latest (or even know the latest) version.

Josh is gone, and he was not a QS Industries employee.

Very weird that these 2 softwares are not somewhere hosted by QS Industries.

The latest versions I have are
CVManager 3.1.0.39
QuantumUpgrade 3.1.0.5

Anyone have anything newer?

I have the groups.io site QSI-Solutions, I guess I better start uploading files there....

Name is Michael. Hope we can be friends.
Sounds like a lot of stuff to do if you’re running DCC; I’m not. I’m DC.
Anyway, I’m not giving up on my BLI locomotive.   Getting some good suggestions.
Thanks,

I am brand new to the forum, and I recently acquired a BLI 2-8-2 steam locomotive (my first BLI, decorated as a Southern, #6326) at an estate sale.  I run DC on my layout, and understand that these locos will work on DC.  When I powered it up, it made all the steam/pumps/etc. sounds, but didn't move.  I contacted BLI, and they determined that the loco is over 15 years old, and QSI equipped.  I decided to buy a QSI Sidekick on ebay, and it works great (controls whistle and bell fine, but the loco still wouldn't move.  To make a long story short, BLI suggested I "reset" the loco, and I did so, using the remove/replace the black jumper method.  When I did this, I got three hoots from the whistle, which indicates that a reset was accomplished.  However, upon powering up again, no movement, but I did get some vague rumbling sounds from the loco.
BLI actually suggested that I pose my questions here on this forum, so I'm asking if anyone else had had a similar experience, and how did you resolve it?
Thanks!

Oh Bill. And how is that going to help? cvlwrnut: A name is nice. We are friends here. I do not recommend getting rid of a QSI. I have one that was a problem, and got it resolved. I may not be able to help you, but I'm sure there are others on this forum who can. When reset, it should have gone back to 03. Not your loco number. Did you try operating it on 03? If not, that's what you need to do. And after that, you can change back to the loco number. This is only a first step. After you try this, come on back.
