First of all, be assured QSI is monitoring this forum, and we are also concerned. We (QSI), have also been unable to establish communication with QSIS. Our phone calls and emails remain unanswered. I want you all to know that QSI is alive and well. QSI Inc. is a wholly separate company from QSIS. Software engineering has been busy working on our latest decoder software. Now we find ourselves without a distribution outlet. We are spread so thin that even responding by phone has been difficult. We are actively looking for someone who wishes to operate an aftermarket QSI business. We are also continuing to work with our OEM partners.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yes I agree with you... I'm out about the same amount lesson learned I guess one of my cheaper life mistakes as I reflect upon 60 plus years in the hobby...still have some grieving to do around this... I have a new Titan A and two Titan U's that I have read and tested and checked the functions on today.... $90 US each plus shipping take  the 3 of them I'll cover the shipping costs. The Titan A has some solder on the tabs from hooking a motor and speaker up to it to ensure it works properly.... you can contact me at railscanner@... Bob Menzies

Hi Kelly,

The QSI Solutions home page says the office space is being renovated so the phones are temporarily down, but frankly, that message has been up for over 6 months.

I've convinced a bunch of people, in my region, how great the Titan decoder is.  A fellow club member purchased two Titan U decoders last September (2016) from a local hobby shop.   The hobby shop owner sent a check to QSI Solutions but has yet to receive the product.

Another fellow club member tried to place an order, this January, with Tony's Train Exchange for a Titan U and got a reply from Tony's that they 'can no longer offer the Titan at this time.'

Further, I sent an email to Gerry and have not heard back from him.

Now, I know there's a distinction between QSI (Oregon) and QSI Solutions (Vermont).  What's really happening with QSIS?

Re: Atlas OEM Titan question

KJ,

The most recent Atlas OEM Titan firmware supports Horn Master.

To find out if the firmware in your locomotive supports Horn Master,
have the decoder speak out (or read back in service mode) the CV55.1.SI CV's (Horn Type, Alt Horn Type, Horn Reverb Amount, Horn Reverb Distance) or the CV130.PI.SI User-defined Horn Component Pitch CV's.

If the decoder speaks out the CV number only (or the service mode readback fails), the firmware does not
support Horn Master.

Re: chuff documentation

Calvin,

I did not write the "dial in you titan chuff rate" document, but it appears that "Step 4" should be labeled "Step 3", "Step 5" should be "Step 4", "Step 5a" should be "Step 4a" and "Step 6" should be "Step 5".

Another description of this procedure is on page 376 of the Quantum DC Ref Manual Ver 5.2.0.

Hello,

I am a QSI Solutions dealer and have been for 10 years or so, dating back to when Tony had the products. Ever since Josh took it over the actions you describe are a regular pattern. I finally re-established contact last fall after a year or so of the same thing you describe. I received two orders, sent in a third in early December, I believe, and have heard nothing since. My guess, and this is only a guess, is that when he runs out of stock his reaction is to stop communicating. So all I'm saying is that you are being treated like everyone else that I have ever talked to. So we wait and see!.

for the first time ever, I have a roller stand available so I can try out the "dial in your titan chuff rate using the quantum programmer" procedure. I downloaded the pdf from the qsi solutions webpage, and am wondering if step 3 is important.

QSI PROGRAMMER WOES:

Bob Menzies

Morning group! Last week I blew the SMD resistor  2 ohm 1/2watt 1210 resister. (I think) I had left a kadee coupler gauge on the programming track which caused the zap with the magic smoke...I called Digikey and got a couple spares just in case. So this morning I soldered in a new one and it works fine in ops mode but not in service mode. It will read out and report CV's but when I switch to service mode it will not read or write CV's? You can see the decoder moving when the decoder gets the read back signal but then it spits back cannot read the CV? I have used known good working decoders and get the same results....I went into the diagnostics and normally I get a current reading of 2 today its reading 44? That appears to be the only difference after changing the resistor out. Anyone have any ideas as I really do not want to ship this back to Vermont not knowing if it will even get there let alone get fixed in a timely fashion. Ideas anyone? Appreciate the help thanks ion advance!/Bob Menzies

All,

For the QSI Titan's, I'll knock em down to $82 each or all eight for $600.  Five are programmed EMD567 and three are programmed ALCO244. Free Shipping.

For the three Soundtraxx decoders, make offers.

Thanks,
David

Hi Lou,

I've already checked via query of CV7.   It's a version 9 (point something) firmware.   The unit is OEM so no stereo speaker ability.  I think it does have two additional light ports available for a total of four.   I don't know if the OEM included enough memory to allow the additional horns.

Anyone else?

Gerry?  Kelly?  Josh?

KJ

Re: Atlas OEM Titan question

Lou

KJ, You would probably have to upgrade the decoder software. It would probably be a good idea anyway since that decoder is quite old and I  think it only has ver 8 software. It may not even have stereo speakers.

Subject: [QSIndustries] Atlas OEM Titan question

Hello group,

Atlas manufactured a Titan equipped C40-M Dash 8 and the owner brought some to the club.   Some members are commenting that they don't like the horn tones.   I have to agree, they are perhaps the correct horn notes but do sound dissonant.

My question is, does the Atlas OEM Titan include "Horn Master"?   Can I change the horn sound?

Thanks,
KJ

All,

Quick update worth noting.

Soundtraxx - Should go without saying, but make reasonable offers if you see something.

QSI decoders:
1. I went ahead and tested everything with a QSI Programmer, including the factory new decoders.  No surprises, every decoder functions as designed.
2. I'll do a package deal for all 15.  $1265+free shipping in CONUS.
3. Due to some questions - I have taken photos of the two previously-installed decoders; available if needed.  Some wires were shortened on each, but every wire is still usable and can be extended.

Folks looking for more reductions...whatever is left, I'll post again in a week or two.
I work during the day, but I'll do my best to respond each evening, but it may be a day or two.

Happy railroading,
