  The version 7 decoder has (among other things) a 'variable brake'.   In order to use the working brake, one needs to have momentum values above 0 (zero) and BEMF turned on.   I highly recommend reading the QSI Revolution Users guide first (found here)   Revolution era (version 7) documentation       then the more complex Programming Related documents (on the same page).
