You can drag the q2/q3 file from the desktop (or the directory where it is located) onto the QuantumUpgrade window. You can also double click on the desktop q2/q3 file to open it in QuantumUpgrade. You can also right click on the file, click on "Open With...", and select QuantumUpgrade.
