What PC are You using for QDX?
...In my case I purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad, in the Summer, exclusively for use at my /P QTH but now seem to use it more and more often.
I have just ordered a "Inovato Quadra" which I think will pair up well with the QDX - See: (https://k8jk.wordpress.com/2022/10/17/your-need-an-inovato-quadra/) I did explore Raspberry but too complex, unless you are a data-diddler! I really NEED another Computer like a "hole-in-the head" but hey, cant go wrong at the price! Compactness and Real-Estate at my /P QTH is the driving motivation.. Interested to see what others are using? 73 Terry |

Rpi4 (x2), Rpi3B+(x2), Rpi2B, ITX intel atom330 1.6ghz dual core,
Haven't added the Rpi400 as haven't installed WSJT yet. Since it works on the RP4 (both B and D) I see no issues save for other things take precedence. I also have a Dell latitude ES5440 Laptop for when I need more cpu (modeling and emulation). All running linux Allison ------------------ Post online only, please no email. |

In addition to installing and updating the Raspberry Pi OS on the SD card, I installed nothing more than the JS8Call raspberry package from KN4CRD's official download page and the pavucontrol GUI to get control over the audio stuff. Works like a charm. 73 Johan SM6LKM ve3ega wrote: ...In my case I purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad, in the Summer, exclusively for use at my /P QTH but now seem to use it more and more often. |

Yeah, Pi4 works well if you can get one. A little sluggish running WSJT, flrig, GridTracker, and VNC (macOS Screen Sharing) together, but perfectly functional.

I have a few older Mac Mini boxes that make nice Debian machines, so that's always another option. 73, Willie N1JBJ On Nov 16, 2022, at 4:00 PM, Johan Bodin <jbodin@...> wrote: |

I have setup a Inovato Quadra for fun with fldigi and flrig. I don't need it any more so it's looking for a good home. If anyone is interested please contact me via my QRZ email. 73,

Seed Studios reTerminal:
It's a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB EMMC storage. Has a small screen (3.5x5 in.), two USB's, RJ-45 Ethernet, WiFi and an HDMI port. Add to that the 40-pin RPi header and it's quite a neat little box. Runs RPi OS flawlessly and I can VNC into it for a full 1080x720 screen if needed. For direct use a capacitive touch stylus would be recommended. And it is in stock! |

I have just ordered a "Inovato Quadra"Mine arrived in a couple of days ARO. The cooling arrangements in mine are weird, it has a finned heatsink on the micro and an aluminum plate attached to the case, with a thermal pad between the plate and the tips of the fins. I will be looking into better cooling, as they appear to overheat under sustained heavy computational loads according to reviews I have seen. It should not be hard to install a tiny fan, or I am sure someone will come up with a case design and put it on Thingiverse, etc. I am planning on putting Ham-Pi Innovato Quadra "Ham-IQ" version on it for (mainly) JS8CALL. I also noticed that there are numerous similar boxes with the same processor with more RAM/storage available, if that is a need. 73, Don N2VGU |

I'm doing something similar with an Orange Pi Zero 2W (a mouthful!). This has 1G and an SD card. They use log2ram which I hope helps. I don't have the QDX finished (or the antenna up) so it will be a while before I test it. I'm up to the toroids, messed up the binocular (made the first wire 2 instead of 3). I fixed it and had enough to build L14 Will solder those in tonight. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@... http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ |

Neil,+1 I will be looking for advice on which version of WSJT to use and how easy it is to install - I'm rusty on Sudo apt get type commands lol!NP on the sudo, I can help there. I live on the command line. :-) There are a few tricks so you can run the X applications remotely. I can run wsjt-x on the Pi (clone) and displayed on my Windows box or my Linux boxen. -- Linux Home Automation Neil Cherry kd2zrq@... http://www.linuxha.com/ Main site http://linuxha.blogspot.com/ My HA Blog Author of: Linux Smart Homes For Dummies KD2ZRQ |

Got a Quadra plus out for delivery today, so that’ll be the next ptoject.
Have a Phaser 30 running in a Dell I7 win 11 machine and Dell I5 win 10 on QDX.
Big question at this point is what display to use on the Quadra for small portable ops? 3.5 HDMI would be great but my 80 year old eyes likely need at least a 5 inch if not bigger.
Fun stuff!

Check the minimum display resolution for wsjtx (assuming that’s what you’re going to be using), as many cheap laptops and chrome books, do not have the display resolution to allow you to see the entire screen, so you can’t see the “OK” button down in the lower, right hand corner.

I'm using a 2013 MacBook Air (11"). Works great, light weight, able to run latest iOS, and battery lasts 4 hours, so pairs well with QDX for portable ops, which is what I use QDX for. Probably can get a used one cheap.

Got my Quadra Plus. Booted and everything looked good but could not connect to WiFi. Quadra could see all the routers. Took off the “Plus” dongle and then could connect and run Firefox.

Put the dongle back on and tried to download wsjt-x. But then installation locked up the computer. Tried again and same thing.
Not sure the Quadra has the necessary horsepower but is a neat little machine.
