Valid FT8 QSO ? Opinions sought

What do you think ?
Back home in the NRV of VA now at N4QA     no slash 4.
Both call signs, both signal reports, both grids .Wish I had logged this one before clearing it by switching to the FT-450 config :0(  This QDX manages TEN whole milliwatts output on Top Band.
80 meters long end-fed wire.

lQQks gQQd to me Bill
that image says it all
congratulations !!!

I recently put several new DXCC ft8 contacts like ur image in the log (TNX to Sun cycle 25 :>)

Some groups require 73 / 73 exchange
but how do both ends confirm the other end received 73?

Think about how many CW events exchange only  (ur-call  "599"  tu k qrz)

... IF ...  a QRPp Gallon = 1W
...AND...  10mW is two orders of magnitude down
1.0 p
0.100 pp
0.010 ppp
... THEN ... ur contact must be QRPppp

Do you still run the Phaser?

Some people will not confirm without the 73 exchange but there's no "rule" saying that.

Tnx responses, guys.
John, I've never used a Phaser but it looks like a fun rig.

ps
QRPppp indeed ! :0)

Since WSJTX only sends one 73, refusing to log a contact without it seems crazy, but some people do it. A valid contact consists of an exchange of signal reports, callsigns, and grid.

I built a 40 m Phaser a couple of years ago. It worked, but the QDX runs rings around it. It got sold a while back. It was a fun build though.

Since the other side obviously did not get your signal report, I would not log this.

Some contacts are worth recording, regardless of whether the other op will acknowledge your QSO.  Make a note of it in your log, so you can savor it for posterity.

I once QSO'd with V31BB (SK) and while he didn't give me his usual "no kids, no lids, no space cadets" rant, we talked long enough that I was unsympathetic about the last time he worked on his amplifier.

I should have noted it in my log.

You'll never get a QSL card from people like V31BB, but that's not the point.  Should you choose to send them your card, make sure you have some outrageous and totally unacceptable (but clean) design that they'll never forget.  Back around 1990 I had one of those and if I can find one, I'll reproduce it ... but this time, a short run of a hundred or so on fluorescent orange cardstock instead of doing all of them on gloss silver like I did 30+ years ago.

BTW, if you QSL 100%, you'll go through thousands of cards.  If a few hundred are of a color that'll draw peoples' eyes to them FIRST, well, it's worth the extra cost.

If he kept sending his signal report, that means he didn't  get yours.

Or he didn't get your RRR after he got your signal report and he sent his report. All depends on who called first.

eQSL got both (all).

OK - here is another view for a FT8 qso:
1. You call the dx station
2.  the dx station responds with a sig report and you decode it.
3. you send a sig report and the dx station decodes it properly.
4. the dx station sends you RR73
5. You don't decode the RR73 since he faded out, or qrm.
6. You go ahead and log it in wsjt-x.

Did you work him?  I say yes if you are in his log and he is in your log.
I don't think a signal report is needed in ARRL LOTW for a qsl anyway is it?

N4IJ .

If you keep hearing him send you a sig report, yes you didn't work him, but if you never got his RR73
it does not mean you didn't work him, it just means you did not get his confirmation of your report.
