QDX negligible power out #qdx

I just finished building the QDX, my third or fourth qrp-labs kit.

Receive is working perfectly.

The led pulses on transmit and I can hear the tones on another receiver.

However I don’t see the slightest movement on my qrp power meter, nor any decodes on psk-reporter.

Where should I start looking/testing?

That means the audio level is insufficient. If in fldigi set the TX Attenuator to zero. In Wsjtx set the power out to max.

The LED is not “pulsing”; it’s strobing an error message. For example 2 pulses is “QDX has detected Tx audio but it’s too quiet to use”.

Count the flashes and consult the doc for the meaning of the flashes.

David,

On all bands?
Flashing or the gentle pulse?
If the gentle pulse then look for 12 volts on the BS170s, soldering on L14, T1.

Gentle pulse.

thanks Alan, I’ll do that.

You were right Alan.

I'd made a poor job of scraping the enamel from the binocular windings.

Now of course I've snapped one of the wires trying to clean it so I'll have to go buy some 22 gauge wire.

Lesson learned.

Thanks everyone for their help.

A follow-up if anyone is interested.

After having to buy 350 feet of 22-gauge wire (does anyone need any?) it wasn't the transformer.

The problem turned out to be a solder bridge under the BNC connector. I've no idea how I managed that, or how the QDX could receive and decode signals (albeit only from the USA).

Now it's working well and I'm getting to enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for your help.
