LT5517 40MHz to 900MHz Quadrature Demodulator #rcvr

Mike

I just learnt about this device, it looks at first sight to be a drop in, well a bodge in for the FST chip.

LT5517 = 40MHz to 900MHz Quadrature Demodulator
Has anyone played with it in a QRPLabs receiver to replace the FST3253.
I see a possible 2m QRPlabs receiver :-)

MIght be usable with a complete redeisgn for frequencies above 40Mhz.
Totally useless below that frequency.

It would be at best not compatible with the QCX/QDX and QRPL receiver.
Its target is for stuff in the 600-900Mhz range.

Back around 2010 there was reference to a soundcard based SDR using this chip, I recall it was usable down to around 5MHz or so, Thing is the sensitivity rolls off so it needs a pre amp down there. my interest is in simplifying the design for audio use.

As I've said before,  Let s know how you make out.

I do know that at 432Mhz it seriously needed RF amp as it was really deaf.
