Monitoring audio while using QDX

KJ7WFK

I am new to QDX and this group so please forgive me if this has already been asked. Is there an easy way to monitor the RX audio while using the QDX?
Listening for signals is a big part off how I operate FT8.

You do not provide information about your setup, so it is unclear what exactly is your question.

On Linux you might try: https://github.com/CircuitChaos/qdx-play

I am running WSJT-X on an Evolve laptop with Windows 10 pro. QDX Rev 4 firmware 1_05.

KJ7WFK,

Windows 10 and above have a feature to monitor an input device.  It is in the Sound settings under Input.  You must select the QDX input device (Digital Audio Interface(QDX Transceiver).  Then select Device Properties.  Another screen comes up where you need to choose Advanced device Properties.  That brings up another screen with tabs at the top.  Select the Listen tab.  Check the box by Listen to this device and then select your speakers from the dropdown Playback through this device.

I did have to play with the volume levels to get the sound out of the speakers.

BTW, the QDX input to the PC will play through the speakers whenever the QDX is connected.

Give it a try.

Kelly.

I had to play with the audio volume settings to get the speaker loud enough to hear.  I do not remember exactly how I did it.  Try right-clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray and selecting open volume mixer. Select the correct application in the boxes above the volume controls.  Adjust the sliders to full.

The only way that I know of to both send the WSJT-X audio to the QDX AND the speakers is to use a program like VAC:
https://vb-audio.com/Cable/
I found the above in a Google search for "Free Virtual Audio Cable Download."  Look for a YouTube video to see how to install it.  It can also be used in place of the Listen feature for the audio input.  I have used another similar program, but there is a license fee.  I purchased it before I knew about the one above.

I am not on my Windows 10 machine right now.  The above is the best I can say.  If you still have issues, comment back, and I will fire up my Windows 10 PC.  Others may have suggestions.

Even, I just downloaded the driver and double cable combo from VB audio.  Donationware.  I don't quite understand the need for physical 3 pin cables, though.
