Covid-19

All:

I tested positive for Covid on Sunday after returning from my FDIM/Hamvention trip. The recognition for me came with my significant difficulty breathing. My XYL is a nurse and said I should get a prescription of Paxlovid, a new anti-viral drug. I was not able to get the prescription until late afternoon on Monday. It's a 3-pill dose, 2 times a day, for 5 days and its effectiveness improves the sooner it is taken. I tested negative yesterday and feel much better.

I started feeling better within 24 hours of starting the regimen. If you start to feel symptoms, I suggest you talk with your doctor about Paxlovid. It worked well for me.

Jack:
Sorry to hear you were infected at the superspreader event, but glad you are feeling better with the Paxlovid. Watch out for rebound Covid after you stop taking the Paxlovid.
I went to Dayton, but pretty much stayed outside and tried to keep my distance. Then I came home and was exposed to Covid by wife. So far, I have tested negative. Waiting for PCR results from this morning.
Wishing you a complete and rapid recovery!

Thanks, Arnie. Evidently, about 2% experience a rebound and so far, so good.

Here’s an explanation of Paxlovid, how it works and the side effects, by a physician who treats Covid patients.

Hi Jack

Glad to hear you're feeling better. I still can't smell anything, even the infant defacation (which is powerful stuff). Other than that I feel fine now (even without the Paxowhatsit). 3 days of solid email answering was worse...

I can't imagine the email load you must have had. I had over 300 emails and I'm not even selling anything! Get all the rest you can...it's important.

My first and only known brush with covid-19 a few weeks back resulted in a slightly sore throat, a pounding headache for 3 days, and one night of fever. I didn't get a script for Paxlovid.

For those of you that enjoy measurements, my fitbit watch tells me my long-term resting heart rate is now 9% higher than pre-covid, and I have to take breaks when mowing the lawn. So, don't push yourself too hard...

Jack,
Good to hear you are much better. I also caught the bug. Symptomatic Rx only but doing well at day 6. Arnie, best of luck. I am trying not to infect my wife. So far so good, but it's early.

EVERYTHING is covid. Notice how no one has a cold or just the plain flu any more. It's all to make more $$$. Gov't pays hospitals and doctors more for diagnosis. Let's put this planned-demic to rest and get on with life. I had it way back in Feb '20. Was not fun but didn't go to Dr.

Do some research on Vitamin C and viral diseases.

Vitamin C is controversial and you'll have to make your own mind up about who to listen to.  My view of the best sources are Fred Klenner, Robert Cathcart, and Linus Pauling.  The first two were MDs and Pauling was a PhD biochemist.  Yeah, that Pauling, the Nobel Prize winner.

Full disclosure:
I am fully vaxxed and boosted.  I am certainly not an anti-vaxxer.
I believe in the scientific method.  Independent replication of results is the gold standard for establishing facts.
I have taken upwards of 10 grams of Vitamin C per day for about 12 years.  I use 1 gram tablets of Ascorbic Acid, which costs less than $0.03 per tablet.
When I catch a cold or flu I take a lot more.  The most I ever took personally was about 140 grams in a day.
If I ever catch Covid-19 I'll run my usual very high doses.  I expect it will help, but if it doesn't I'll head to the hospital.  My mama raised no fools.

Google 'Fred Klenner vitamin c' for history.  Klenner was curing Polio in the midst of the polio epidemic in the late 1940s, using Vitamin C administered intravenously.  He used it on a variety of viral diseases.  Klenner left a legacy of published papers in medical journals and many of them can be found online.  Some people believe his work, some don't.

Knowing this is controversial, I will ignore any naysayers.

Generally agree on the Vitamin approach although I could not handle high doses of Vitamin C. Instead the family approach is a bowl of fruit every day. Large pot kept in fridge at all times with as many fruit varieties as I can obtain.

The other powerful medicine is local honey. The beekeeper lives down the road and his bees regularly visit my flowers. His honey cured my hayfever and, I am quite sure, stopped the Covid-19 I suspect I picked up in Feb 2020 from getting too far into the body. I drink herbal tea with honey every day. Don't pick up many infections.

I honestly don't know how I haven't had it *yet*. If I did have it, I
never showed any symptoms. I help run a homeless shelter and we've
had a couple substantial outbreaks in the small town I live in.

WOW! That's a really classy tirade there BML. While I'm sorry for your loss, it's just his opinion. One that I don't particularly share nor do you evidently, but an opinion none the less. You are what's wrong with our society today, no tolerance for anything but your way of thinking. Next you'll want the guy banned. Just for the record, I don't read any of his posts after the shipping complaint. That's how adults deal with these issues.

Go deal with whatever the real problem is and stop trying to be the thought police.

Bring on the hate, I'm used to it from your type, because after all, it's just my opinion. Yours may be different.

Let’s leave our Covid opinions to the scientists.

This isn’t a forum for heresy medical solutions. I was a medical epidemiologist at CDC and wouldn’t dare to second guess those that are working trying to control this pandemic (and the ones to come).

Let’s use this extremely useful forum to worry about getting our rigs working, sharing radio knowledge and waiting for the mailman.

We’ve had a number of SK in our Atlanta area radio clubs. More than a million Americans have died. May they Rest In Peace.

I was reading the posts on this forum and can say i agree with Ward.

My own opinion, the shots and the treatments the hospitals were dishing out didnt help either. I lost a sister this past month to covid  and it was after getting vaxxed. they gave her all sorts of stuff except the ivermectin ,querciten, etc ,and she died in the hospital 4 days later ,from blood clots due from the vaxx.this was proven from the autopsy.the vaxx is as dangerous or more dangerous than the virus. My sister never caught it until she was vaxxed. She finally broke down and took the DAMN vaxx after her employer demanded she take it.

I left forums that had posting police.  they try to start an argument just because you ask a question,or whatever. I agree with Ward. its an opinion. Thats what makes our country Great. Alot of people including hams have become WOKE. Ive lost family due to the DAMN vaxx, but im not trying to shame anyone for their opinion otherwise.

everyone has a right to voice their opinion. and if the WOKE dont like it, go somewhere else. It dont need to be brought into our Hobby, but unfortunately certain groups try to manipulate others way of speaking.
BML. i know your loss. I have one too, but hatred directed towards others wont help and shouldnt be brought here onto this forum.Too many speech police out there trying to make us into twinkle toed wokes.

Im not anti vaxx. only against experimental drugs that actually been proven to kill people.I for one never took the vaxx. i take vitamin c, quercetin, vitamin d, b complex,NAC,and a couple of other suppliments that have been proven to stop or slow down the virus.I also take rosehips and drink green tea with organic honey.

Allen keep posting.I agree with your opinion. the local hospitals here are getting over 53000 yes 53000 for each deep covid patient. and when my sister died in the hospital because of their wonder juice, i received the bills in the mail for her family. By the way,BML, my sister was 43 and has 3 children.

this is the other side of the coin that the WOKE WONT TELL YOU ABOUT.

Allen keep posting,As for the liberal Left,WOKE LEFT, screw all of you . There are more of us than of you.

Ive delt with some of the WOKE HATE that permeates in our forums. bring it on also.

By the way, appreciate your lack of manners and character by cussing on this forum. Pretty sad.

Dont matter what the situation is, it doesnt give you a right to cuss another fellow ham, or harass him on a forum.Ive dealt with this type of behavior before ,and its always from the WOKE liberal left or some tight butted politcally correct individual who thinks their thoughts are the only ones that count.ohhhhhh how dare you say this or post a question that way or mention this or that. how dare you do this, blah blah blah.

Ive lost a Sister, but i celebrate her life by keeping on her memories, her love,NOT ANY HATE OR BITTERNESS.

DIRECT YOUR BITTERNESS TOWARDS THE DAMN DEMOCRATS WHO TRIED TO KEEP OUR BORDERS OPEN WHEN TRUMP WANTED THEM CLOSED. DIRECT YOU BITTERNESS TO WHAT IT IS A DAMN CHINA VIRUS. PERIOD .

DIRECT YOUR BITTERNESS TOWARDS THE SCUM IN OFFICE THAT ALLOWS MILLIONS TO POUR ACROSS OUR BORDERS UNVETTED,UNVAXXED OF ANY DISEASES,BRINGING DRUGS AND MURDERERS INTO OUR COUNTRY/.

DIRECT YOUR BITTERNESS TOWARDS THE WOKE POLITCALLY CORRECT POLICE WHO WILL TRY TO SHUT DOWN FREE SPEECH.AND THOSE WHO ACT LIKE THEIR WAY OF LIFE IS BETTER THAN YOURS AND SHOULD BE GIVEN SPECIAL PROTECTION WITH THE LAW.

now you know why alot of beginning hams leave this hobby because of hate attitudes.

want to ban me because of this, i dont care.Nuff said. looking forward to the kits to come out for the t-41

just my own opinion.
