My freshly completed QCX+ 40m kit is alive and receives like a champ. I noticed my transmit frequency is like 15khz above the displayed freq. Transmitting on the displayed freq. of 7.020, I found my signal up on 7.037 with my G90. I was playing with Alignment menu 8.5 but have not been able to pull it down. Any advice on what to do?  Thanks in advance.

David. Check and see if you are in VFO Split mode Menu item 3.1. Also, have you determined for sure that the receiver is operating on the displayed frequency and only the transmitter is off? What are you using to measure the transmit frequency?

Ron RT all. I think I finally walked the Reference Freq in so it is about right. Changing the Ref Freq appears to only change the actual frequency just a couple of kHz at a time. Had to jump it up to 27.057 before it was close to right on the dial. All good now. Thanks

So I spoked too soon. I can dial in the Reference Frequency to my displayed freq after a lot of trial and error. But when running up the dial I find that I am way off frequency again. Tuned the Reference Freq to be accurate at 7.020. Then I went to 7.055 and found my actual frequency was up around 7.080. At least I was in the band but not many CW operators are answering CQs up there. Can you figure out what would cause this. Put your thinking caps on. Thanks.

Have you tried a Factory Reset yet? Fixes a lot of glitches. Maybe this one too...

David,

Do you have the TCXO option installed? Do you have a GPS kit you can use to try and align the reference frequency with? Your rig is off a lot more than mine but maybe using the GPS kit to align the reference frequency is worth trying? In the QRP Labs YouTube video, "Tuning up your QCX+" Hans references the process of alignment using the QLG1 GPS and said he hasn't ever seen it off by more than 5 Hz off with the TCXO.

I am very interested in this issue as well... I have noticed that when checking my signal via another known good transceiver, as well as double checking using the reverse beacon network, my frequency is consistently off by .2 or .3 kHz. (QCX+ displays = 14055.00  RBN displays = 14054.70)

It's really not a big deal for me as it functions GREAT otherwise and I can live with the VERY MINOR discrepancy... but since I'm an obsessive person and strive for extreme accuracy it does grate on my nerves a little bit. ;)

I have thought of buying the QLG1 GPS kit just to align the reference frequency in hopes it would help correct my issue but I haven't pulled the trigger yet - (Still waiting for the QCX mini to come out and will likely buy the mini, the QLG1, and the TCXO option at the same time to save on shipping costs.)

Maybe someone else will have another suggestion...

I do not have the TXO or GPS options. As I run CW I don’t mind a 1 or 2 kHz variance is not a problem. But 10 to 20 kHz is a big problem. I will keep playing with the settings. I did a factory reset but ran into the same issue.

I am puzzled like the others. I presume rig is transmitting and receiving on the same frequency. You can sniff the internal xtal oscillator with a general coverage receiver to see if it is way off. Of course check the settings related to this, but very unusual. Should be hundreds of Hz off at the most.

Check that the 27mhz crystal is soldered well.  A lead that is not soldered could be coupled to the circuit by a small parasitic capacitor that varies a large amount with changes in temperature, a built in vxo.
