think about E = m c^2
consider QCX/Plus = SSB
Talk about an experimenters delight
take a pEEk at some of todays SSB designs...
Maybe not just WISHFUL thinking on my part but
proven technique using old and new technology
(CMOS 74HC4066 and FST3257) where (IQ) SSB (RX and TX) (upper and lower) is done with outstanding success to include VOX

My Prorock with quadrature output soon to drive ...
one, both or mix of above to produce SSB
"Wishful thinking describes decision-making and the formation of beliefs based on what might be pleasing to imagine, rather than on evidence, rationality, or reality. It is a product of resolving conflicts between belief, and desire. Methodologies to examine wishful thinking are diverse". Wikipedia
As someone that run IQ tech for nearly two decades and have older hardware
(hallicrafters HT37) as well as current analog its good and can do the job
if you don't cut corners.
My Crunch proof Transceiver is based on RX and TX IQ tech. I built it
over 14 years ago and its still running and once the cover went on it
was officially done and not open since save for a show and tell.
Used it this weekend in preference for 6M over two very good 6M radios
as it can sort out a pile with the help of good linearity and user wetware.
The weekend was the ARRL VHF/UHF contest and 6 was wide open.
As to the QCX RX with a few part mods to the audio filter for SSB the
RX is very good. Mine does about 35db opposing sideband rejection
across the 40M band.
