Shipping FAQ

Hans Summers

Hi all

I continue to spend too much time answering emails about shipments. Accordingly I have set up a FAQ section on the shipping page see http://qrp-labs.com/shipping#faq which I think should explain the most common questions. Top of the top most frequently asked questions...
  • Shockingly, "where is the tracking information for my order", from people who chose the cheapest shipment option "No tracking/insurance, your risk"... Hello?
  • It's taking a long time, where is it... sorry I don't know. I don't have access to any more information than you do. Post office airmail tracking doesn't show much, quite a long delay... and in these "interesting" Covid19 times, a lot of stuff is very slow. If you want quick, please choose FedEx Express (TNT) next time, for a few $ more you can have it in 3-4 days.
  • FedEx tracking number doesn't work... yes, you have to use the TNT website http://tnt.com , FedEx and TNT are the same company since 2016 but not fully integrated yet...
I hope this FAQ helps someone... and in doing so, helps my email inbox

And (not requesting or requiring any response from Hans) that "3-4 days" may have little relationship with the notification that your item has been shipped.

I was notified, by email, that the status of my item had changed to "shipped" on June 2.  No information was available on the TNT tracking website until today, June 5.  TNT says I can expect my package on June 8.  (I don't think I'll hold my breath.)

Still, for a few dollars more (...shades of Sergio Leone...), 6 days is better than a boot to the butt.

I just kick back and wait. Much faster now with DHL than a few months ago waiting a month for that slow boat from Turkey..

I think sometimes people forget that 1) ham radio is a hobby and that 2) Hans is a one man shop and that 3) the whole world of shipping is in disarray. People get in such a hurry anymore, it doesn't do any good though.

Shipped June 2
Delivery June 8

This IS 4 business days. Not 6. Which is consistent with the "3-4 days" estimate.

Most places "shipped" means only that the label was printed. Even Amazon 2 day takes a week or more to arrive. 'Chill' is in order.

Hans, I hope you understand that no disrespect was intended.  I live/work on a small dairy farm, and neither the animals, nor I, really "get" this "buisness days" buisness...they eat, and get milked, and mess up the milking shed seven days a week.

Like I said, 6 days (that would be 6 "cow business" days) is good enough for me.

Thank you Hans!

My QCX80 (old school, not a QCX+ announced days after I ordered) shipped 29-April. It will be my third! I was in no hurry, so I chose the slow-poke cheapskate shipping. It still hasn't arrived, but I'm still within the USA window and I'm still in no hurry. As Don Baker (call?) says, "Chill" ... which is just what I'm doing.

I sincerely appreciate all the work Hans puts into all of this! It's truly a remarkable commitment that is largely altruistic. He's hardly getting rich by selling $50 radios!

I will add my data point to the ship times once mine arrives.

Business Days are basically M - F so count the days and subtract weekends and bank/legal holidays. add up to a week for Covid slowdown.

That and on the east coast much of the in coming goes though customs and
I've seen three weeks calendar time but a full 9 days of it was in customs.

Then again I also remember an order (NOT QRPL) that three months
(airmail!) three decades ago from another source from GB!  Every time
it hit the ground it sat for a week minimum. The idea of any where in
the world in days it nuts to me.

If a Post Office is involved in a delivery,  the time multiplies.  I have had orders from Tayda (in Thailand) via DHL take 3 calendar days.

For your new QRPLabs toys, use FedEx and spend the extra dollar — well worth it.

Julus, good to hear.
What shipping, customs and handling costs were incurred?

Well, perhaps it is my karma...  TNT Tracking now says: "Scheduled delivery pending"...whatever that means...

Same here.  Originally showed the 3rd, which changed to the 8th and then to Scheduled Delivery Pending. .  Just confirming the same thing out of Hans' control.

Rachael Sanders

Mine did exactly that then shortly after was at the local depot then was pronounced ‘Out for delivery’
Have patience guys! As my then 3 year old used to say ‘Patience is a virtue, Mummy’
