Mini: Parts on bottom of PCB? Not urgent.
Sadly the PicoPaddle is no more. Even the website link goes to a dead page.

QCX mini: RF output BNC or SMA
#poll-notice
I voted BNC. I like SMA connectors but the torque requirements are easy to exceed. A BNC is pretty simple

Yep, I have a few displays that aren't doing anything. I could take my kit(s) without a display

How about an ultra-portable "QCX mini" version?

Hi Jack, You and I are on the same page concerning SMD components. I programmed PLC's for a living for about 25 years (then they put me in manglement and ruined my life :D ) but for some reason Atmel/

When I was almost 59 I decided that it was time to learn to solder SMD's. It made perfect sense to wait that long. I can't see as well as I used to. My hands aren't as steady. But! I am grandkid train

OLG1 repair (maybe)
:D I don't have any to check. Perhaps my coffee has gone bad. Or maybe the 950 mile drive that I started at 5PM on Friday and finished at 8AM on Saturday had an effect. The GPS wasn't working. Now it

Programmer
There's a YT channel (Ben Eater) that I've been watching that ended up pointing me at one of the best programmers I've ever used. It's ridiculously easy to flash a chip. He sells it on his site - http

OLG1 repair (maybe)
I literally typed all of that ^^^ walked over to my bench, looked at the current meter on the supply and saw that current was cycling like it normally would. It's working. The 1PPS signal is flashing.

Building QCX In Stages - Any Experience?
#qcx
There's a guy on YT, NA5Y, that built the QCX and 50W amp in stages. He also tested each stage. It was pretty informative and well done https://youtu.be/xo-XD5vB4AA

QCX 40 No Sidetone and output is raspy
Very possible. Nothing is where it would normally be because I'm testing. There's a rats nest of power and RF cables. The QCX is working as it should. I'll test the whole setup this evening but clean

QCX 40 No Sidetone and output is raspy
:-/ Well, I put the QCX signal into a 50 ohm pass thru terminator then to the scope and the sine wave is gorgeous. 7.020 Mhz, which is exactly the frequency I set. About 2.5W out. No problems at all.

I finally installed a jack in my QCX so I can could the 50W amp and test it all as a package. All of that worked. Just for grins I turned my FT-891 on to see what the QCX sounded like (transmitting in

Testing 50W amp. Amp current draw?
Thanks George. The test was fast and easy. At 13.8V my old Heathkit wattmeter says 40-ish Watts. Power draw from the PSU was 4.3A (5A is it's limit). I ran it up to 20V but the PSU couldn't keep up. I
