Feedback on 17m QCX #1058
I'd start by thanking Hans et al for designing, kitting and supporting such a gem! It's certainly the most surprising kit I've ever built. Instructions are so good it took me a total of four hours fro

Dear Hans, does T1.03.zip incorporate the new fuse settings or do I have to manually fiddle with them when re-flashing an old chip? I’m a total ATmega328 newbie running 1.00c firmware (OEM chip). TNX

Anyone have a dead QCX with a good receiver?
That's very interesting Vern! I have a 17m QCX whose receiver became de-sensitized and I'm still trying to find the culprit. I'd be VERY surprised if also my QCX has developed a bad C17... perhaps a f

I agree, however Vern wrote he had to replace C17 in both his faulty QCXs… it could be a coincidence, but what are the odds of that? Yep, I’m reflowing a few pins at a time, but I still haven’t fixed

That’s true Alan, I’m not even trying to draw conclusions based on a sound statistical basis. However, I found it interesting that Vern found exactly the same faulty component on two QCXs and I was wo

They definitely are. True, but there are many stages after that HI! I’d say the core of the receiver, the many op-amps, etc. Lots and lots of components and solder joints… The alignment tone is strong

Anyone have a dead QCX with a good receiver?
Nevermind, it's now stopped booting altogether. I've first tried Hans' recommended fix (moving L5) but that didn't work, then snapped one leg of L5 without having a spare one. After much cursing I hop

Definitely! I’d do it, but first I’d like to know whether it’s possibile the CPU might be partly damaged, i.e. ISP is simply accessing its internal memory but the part that should actually run the cod
