QCX-mini build/alignment question
Dan things may be okay. It’s easy to jump to false conclusions. The capacitor peaking usually isn’t sharp, finding where it increases output tends to be good enough. Now for the nulling operation care

It's most likely loaded down by a faulty circuit, not necessarily a short. Maybe a device is installed backwards, check electrolytic caps and semiconductors. Curt

Yep random wires can have that kind of behavior. If you have no faults with a dummy load your rig is fine. Can you go any longer with your wire? A full 65 feet should match better on 40m and nicely on

Mark Nice that qrpguys has that matching transformer as a kit, as I had the toroid so I just built one in an altoids tin. This design is well documented by experimenters on the web. How does it work?

A few basics. A full size dipole can be fed via coax. Same for a vertical with radials. Many other antennas require matching at the base or tuning within the antenna. The enterprises mentioned are wor

How much current does an Original QCX draw in WSPR receive mode with the GPS connected and Light on?
I am trusting your ammeter. A mini could be less. But if you own an older qrp rigs like a sw40 it could be around 40 mA.

LY2H TUNED 20 m. halfway
Definitely ingenious. An ordinary efhw has harmonic resonances, this one does not. Lower transmit harmonics and better immunity from transmitters in other bands. Maybe these virtues aren't needed ever

IS THE BS 170 MOUNTING SYSTEM IN THE MINI A GOOD IDEA?
Check the current flow of both rigs. Heat shows up within each bs170 and it relies on convection. The new QCX heat sink expands the radiating surface it would be ideal except for the plastic package o

What is the actual "success rate" for home built QCX+ radios?
Hard to quantify a rate. If a builder makes an assembly error in audio chain it can be a decent effort to find. Parts including display are high quality. It is not hard to zap controller and pll chips

is the 10W linear really linear?
Brent Good questions. I suggest reading about differences of class A versus other types of amplifiers. Second, note that amplifiers have limits to their linearity, and the best produce some harmonics.
