Which caused me to go ouch. Using the center pin on the voltage controller chip I read 12v and 6.6v there.

Disregard the last. It does save the freq cal, just not the clock, which I dont need anyway for basic cw work.

But....when I shut the radio off it looses both the clock and the freq calibration.

But...with the ground coming from the Paddle side the unit would not power up until I connected both.

Bryan, you do need to connect the sleeve to ground on the paddle side. It is normal for the rig to tx briefly and that’s why Hans recommends putting rig in “practice” mode.

I am not clear how to wire this GPS to the radio and could use some confirmation.
