BSS123 Where to buy?
I might need to replace Q5, and digikey seems to be out of them. I like to have cheap parts on hand if I think that it may be the issue when I go in for a repair. It is easy just to pop the new part

Re: I think a Thunderstorm just killed my QCX-mini
I've had a bunch of QRP Labs U2/U3#s etc running in the attic for 6-7 years and I've never
switched them off or disconnected them during a thunderstorm.
I do however have a T-Match on all of them,

Re: Antenna Length with Insulated Wire
When did the 468/F become a "cast-in-stone" number?
It is an approximation and includes the possible reduction for insulation vs bare wire.
When I got my license in 1955 it was an approximation number

Qcx+ op amp pin voltages
Hi there I have completed assembly of my qcx+ 40m, it makes tone and when I performed the bpf cap alignment I got a magnitude rating initially of 7, peaked it at about 8 o’clock and removed 5 turns

No protection may be actually better than little or incomplete protection :) you'll see how difficult it is here, very good article in 3 parts: PDF Lightning Protection for the Amateur Radio Station -

I'd say these things aren't an exact science, depending on locaton, height and other factors, just start with a too-long wire and bend it back on itself before finaly cutting it and even then leave

We'll keep each other posted, I'm following this topic. You can try ordering IC2 replacement from the shop at QRP Labs 6 USD or 4 something Euro. if you will need that, I'm hoping to get trouble

read about the unloaded impedance or reactance being four times at the lowest frequency. For me, that would be 80M. Yes, it's

Paul,
If you're using it with a QCX without a tuner, you should adjust the length for resonance in-place with a decent antenna analyzer. The last answer is correct: that formula is "rule of thumb" and

No... 468 is a SWAG anyway and there are too many other factors to be concerned with. I cut using 468 and trim to resonance.

Antenna Length with Insulated Wire
Just a discussion, do you shorten a dipole 5% when using 16 gauge THHN insulated for resonance or not ?
Example:
468 / 7.025 = 66.61 ft. X 95% = 63.28 ft.
Which would you use ?
Going to build one and
