If you have "bricked" an Arduino or the AVR micro-controller in your QCX it may
still be possible to recover and reprogram the chip.

Check out JS8Call. It's a modified form of FT8 mode with same weak-signal properties, but allows any free-text you want. You can send the entire Geneva Bible if you want :). Also has "ping"

Re: JT Modes?
Amazing how CW seems to be timeless for weak signal work. Sure these special digital modes are pushing the envelope but not much of a data payload.

FT8 and similar are good for contesting and for what qqualifies as a
DX QSO under poor conditions. Conversation not much takes a long
time and you don't get to say much.
I can explain it all but

What are they really good for? I have been told they are not good for typical QSO operation.
I have several decent SSB receivers but only one SSB transmitter. All other transmitters are CW/AM.

They require a SSB radio to put clean single tone signals out.
it is possible to do it without SSB but then the software would have
to drive a 5351 or DDS directly. There are no standard for that or

JT Modes?
I looked at the Joe Taylor mode stuff. The webpage says you need a SSB transceiver?
Do you really? These don't seem to be SSB modes.
What are they? How do they work?
