Re: FW: CW Beacon Message Text ( continuous )
Vernon,
Is this on the U3(S) or on the QCX? I don't have the * character on the QCX.

Hans,
Thank you for your thoughtful response.
I fully understand what you are saying. While "software can do anything", the timing of all of the other more critical tasks must not be compromised.

Re: FW: CW Beacon Message Text ( continuous )
At the end of the text insert *150* and that will give you 15 seconds of tone. The number is however long you want the tone.

Vernon,
What was the solution for this? This sounds like a useful feature.

Hi Hans
While you are responding about feature wish list, I posted previously an idea about adding a menu option that if a GPS is connected then it could append lat/long coordinates to a beacon

Re: Clock Kit & GPS rx kit QLG1
The space in the rear is for an 18650 battery pack which I'll get done "one day". Then it will be totally self contained mainly for EmComm operations...

Re: Clock Kit & GPS rx kit QLG1
Paul,
Here is how I do it and it doesn't involve cutting any new holes. BTW-I've had no issues receiving GPS in most buildings including a number of EOC's.

Re: toroid wire gauge?
This is simply a diagnostic test. Looking for a 'bad' component.
Not to be used to be connected to any antenna.

Re: toroid wire gage?
Bypassing an inductor with a wire link may increase the output by a small amount but it will then be including all harmonics. It is more likely that you have a construction issue

Re: toroid wire gage?
What IF you replaced a toroid with a jumper? Do you get 'better power'?
You can remove/test any cap, too and see if that adjusts your output.
Just don't 'test' for too long.

P.S. DUMMY LOAD

Re: toroid wire gage?
The enameled wire that I got with my QCX Kit is the same diameter as
28 AWG enameled wire that I have on a spool from Remington. Checked
with dial calipers.

Re: toroid wire gage?
Sorry QCX is the kit I am working on.
I tried the transmit power and got .4 watts. after trying to heat the toroids solder again I lost what little power I was getting.
Just now soldering in L2

Re: toroid wire gage?
Both are on the heavy side. Id go no heavier than 26 and maybe 28.
Then again you din't specify for what (QCX, U3S, random??).
