When I get serious I use an RF probe and DC voltmeter with a 50 ohm load. I also transfer that to my SWR bridge and note where it reads for the power I just read across the 50 ohm load with that same 50 ohm load (SWR 1:1). That gives me a very good estimate for normal operations.
