Hi John, The opto coupler,if it uses a LED and
photo-diode/transistor, may not work as required. I have
designed/used many circuits with cds LDRs. They work, because the
resistance change is pretty linear, and they are slow, so the
resistance doesn't change very fast, say 1/100 second. The opto
coupler is probably much faster and may give ,pulsing. and glitches
on the attack edge. Good luck. Report progress if you go ahead.
