Update from Dayton 2017.

I asked Mike about the Mark II amp yesterday.  He said it was hard to give a date with all of the other efforts going on and some unexpected issues in other areas that have set him back a bit.

Sounds like it will be ready to show by Hamcation in Orlando next spring.

TX inhibit resistor

Does anyone know which pins in the 13 pin DIN connector the little resistor (10K I think) plugs into to allow transmit?

Thank you

Gordon,
See attached. The resistor on my amp is 1 ohm 1/8 watt (brown, black, gold, gold). It is connected between pin 4 and 8. Note that the DIN connector is mounted with the keyway down on the amp so the resistor is connected on the far right hand side between the bottom row and next row up. There are two DIN connectors.

You may be aware that many of the ham related YAHOO groups are moving to GROUPS.IO.  This is because of the support related issues on the YAHOO groups.

We'll be moving this group over in the coming days.  My understanding is that you will be sent an invitation to join the new group automatically.   The content of the this YAHOO group should be transferred automatically also.

Once everything is moved, this group will be closed.  Please bear with us as this move takes place.  Again it is supposed to be seamless and easy but this is the first group I'm moving.  Your comments on the move and other feedback will be appreciated.

Hi Kevin,
He wasn't  at Hamcation this year.  I emailed him and said he is busy, busy, busy with his projects.

Hopefully we'll see him at Dayton / Xenia and get some updates there.

Hi Larry,
I'm going to Dayton and will ask Mike about it.   I haven't seen any other details but maybe Mike will see this post and give us an update sooner.  I know he is busy but you never know.

According to the vendor list on the Hamvention site he has a booth reserved.

Friends,

The new solid state has PLENTY of headroom on 160 and other bands, just like any Dishtronix amp. In fact the new chassis is intended to even build 5K solid states in.  I think it is safe to assume you’ll see 2K on 160 or more. However this isn’t a specification or a promise. This is just idle chat – for now.  I’m not going to promise when it is going to be out. Let’s hope by fall.

I finished last year’s big projects and expect to have engineering time available again for the tuner again sometime in April.

I’m going to be involved with some other things this year, starting with the process of the new Ten Tec factory.  I’ve selected the site and now have to go from there with the process.

You might see something new at the Alpha booth.  Maybe I will divulge more before Hamvention.

Mike,
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that the tuner will be getting some engineering focus. I have a place waiting in my shack for it.

Re: Any updates from Dishtronix? Hamvention 2018 update

Al Ludwick / NN4ZZ

Hamvention 2018 update — I talked with Mike today at his booth in Xenia.  The Alpha 4040 tuner was on display and he said the tuner is still in the works.  His primary focus is getting his new facility in TN completed so that is taking top priority.

His current expected delivery date for the 4040 is first quarter of 2019.

On a related note he also had the prototype for his DX2400 Mark II solid state amp at the show.    He plans to have several models (power levels) available and the amp and power supply will all be housed in a single enclosure.

His curent expected delivery date for the new amp is late 2018 or Q1 2019.

The dates are not committments since there are other projects that could still take priority but the main take away is that both projects are still planned.

Regards, Al / NN4ZZ

Pix of Mark II in current state.

same front control as DX2400 — power supply will be in same chassis.

FS: Dishtronix Prometheus Solid State HF Amplifier

Dishtronix Prometheus Solid State HF Amplifier SN 28

I've decided to simplify the station, and with more than a little regret, letting go of my Dishtronix Prometheus solid state HF amplifier is part of that redesign.

This is easily the best, most heavy-duty solid state amp available to the Amateur Radio community.

Duty cycle?  100% continuous @ 1,500 watts, SSB, CW/RTTY.  Period.  No "ICAS" or other silliness.   True "brick on the key" stuff, which is interesting, since Dishtronix now owns Alpha, the company which made that term famous.

See the reviews over at eHam: https://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/7302.  I wrote one of those reviews, and still believe every word of what I wrote.

This one has a linear power supply, which while heavy, is much simpler than the switching PS version, and due to its design, to be RF-quiet.

$8,000
