** CHINA. 13530, June 11 at 1344 CNR1 jammer is JBA, but enough to
match // 11785. Also at 1351 stronger 13870 at S5-S7; 14900 at S7-S9;
and at 1352, 15970 at S3-S5. Aoki confirms all are SOH frequencies,
but 14900 SOH relaying RFA. No other WOOBs found 12-16 MHz (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1985 monitoring: confirmed Sunday

off side of the beam

kHz using the U. Twente SDR receiver. Some lightning QRN. Transmitter
s/on at about 1811:30 UT. Dead air for a few minutes and then random
audio for a minute or so and then the Aïda Triumphal March theme. WoR
1985 began at about 1816:30 with no "upcut." Ran the full show with
IRRS ID at the end and then into the news report -- Richard Langley``

Also confirmed UT Tuesday June 11 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair S9-S8.

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505v, June 11 at 0612, WRNO is still OFF. Have not heard a
sign of it for over a week; not that II miss it. Is there anything
about this at http://www.wrnoworldwide.com/ ? Of course not! But
webcast is running June 12 at 0440 in English, and headed by this
astounding claim: ``Today, one out of every six people in the world
owns a shortwave radio and another 40% have Internet access``. Sez
who? Ask six random people if they have SW and one will say yes?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15610, June 11 at 2026 is S9-S7 in English, definitely on as
usual, tho Ivo said June 10 that it`s ``very rarely on the air``,
scheduled at 19-24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825, June 11 at 2027, WWCR is S9+15/25, obvious sporadic E
boost above normal JBA signal; I keep an eye on the DXmaps MUF, but
remains way below 88 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.120V, June 12 at 0145, WBCQ with dead air instead of
Brother HyStairical, still so at 0217. Slighty varying, measured at
0154. First noticed on caradio scan. Offset frequency means NOT the
superstation, which it now seems won`t be on before July, maybe
testing late June. We can hardly wait for the flat-earthers to start
programming as the Super-stition.

5130.437, June 12 at 0157, WBCQ also on here, also dead air and still
at 0217 recheck; maybe modulated earlier for UT Wed ham show?

No signal on 7490v, normally off by now anyway; not a trace of 3265v
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

The original post to our websites had messed up diacritics - accents as Ron Howard pointed out. I`m on a new computer with different word processing. Corrected versions have now been uploaded -- I hope for all to see.

** CUBA. 6230, June 12 at 0608, JBA carrier detectable from the RHC
leapfrog mixing product of 6100 over 6165 another 65 kHz beyond. Both
just barely modulated, but enough signal for leaping, S9+20 and S9+10
respectively. Meanwhile, the other scheduled English frequencies, 6060
and 6000 are both OFF. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15230, June 12 at 1409, this RHC sounds dead air, but by
straining, JBM; while // 15140 is OK. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550, June 12 at 2058, R. Kuwait, music, best heard yet
achieving S5, fading to S2. We should log this every day while we can
at midsummer, since the other 10-11 months will be totally inaudible,
hi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 5995, June 12 at 0610, S9 of hilife music, as R. Mali is
sufficiently modulated and no RHC aside 6000 to bother it (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, June 12 at 0606, VON is on at S9+10/20 but
undermodulated; BTW, 24 hours earlier June 11, when I found it to be
off, Ivo Ivanov had it instead on 9689.9 where I did not check, but
has happened before. Also at this same time June 12, he reports the
DRM transmitter was also active with Hausa on 15119.9. Alan Roe
suggests it was for a special occasion, National Democracy Day (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15730, June 13 at 1302-1304*, S9+10 open carrier, typical
Greenville-B morning day shift transmitter test on a frequency
scheduled much later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENIING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1985 monitoring: confirmed
Wednesday June 12 at 2100 on WRMI 9955, S8-S3, not cutting on late.
Simulcast on WBCQ 7490+ is JBA such that I can`t calculate how many
seconds apart the playbax may be.

Also confirmed UT Thursday June 13 after 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair.

Also confirmed UT Thursday June 13 from 0205 on WBCQ Superstation test
on 9330.00, very good. Surprise airing thanks to Larry Will.

** U S A. 9329.999, June 12 at 2334, WBCQ superstation test is
on-frequency, maybe really 9330.000 within my margin of error, and
very strong S9+20/30 with rock music. Tnx to tip from Ethan Best who
first reported it to the WOR iog at 2225. Then it`s heard all over
North America with VG signals. Likewise at 0045 June 13 on our BST-1
caradio. Programming from Area 51 was being used for the test, so
Larry Will included WORLD OF RADIO 1985 at 0205, thanks! This
continued into the night with no loss of signal; 0511 check S9+20/30
with anti-fag comments, maybe a parody; 0614 an Allan Weiner Worldwide
playback. AW said power was 150 kW on antenna beam like the other
WBCQs, 250 degrees WSW toward TX and Mexico. The test was a surprise,
as on the latest AWWW he had foreseen testing not until last week of
June. And now planned to run it again the next day.

9330, however off the air when checked June 13 at 1255, and 2205, but
by 2240, 9330+ old transmitter on with Brother Scare. Sometime before
0100 switched TOMBS onto the big`un, as now it`s the VG on-frequency
signal continuing with Brother Scare past 0136 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 1986, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4840, June 14 at 0556, WWCR with S9+20/30 of dead air; 3215
with Brother Scare, and 5890 is off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. Re last report, this of course was about WEWN:
15610, June 11 at 2026 is S9-S7 in English, definitely on as
usual, tho Ivo said June 10 that it`s ``very rarely on the air``,
scheduled at 19-24 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ANTARCTICA [non]. The annual BBCWS winter solstice special for the
British Antarctic Survey is coming up next Friday June 21, and we have
been expecting a dry-run frequency test sometime during the preceding
week. Ivo Ivanov got the details to the WOR iog several hours ahead,
to pick the best three out of four:

June 14 at 2130-2145, so I try all four frequencies here at 2135:
7360-Ascension, JBA carrier; 9455-Woofferton, JBA S4-S6 not WRMI;
5990-UAE, JBA carrier; 5875 Woofferton, JJBBA carrier. About as
expected here way off the target.

Then at 2139 I check the same via UTwente SDR, and hear an interview
about football, maybe regular BBCWS programming at the moment: 7360
good but with pervasive Ascension hum --- Kai Ludwig wonders if that
would disqualify it? Not at all, one or two ASC transmitters remain in
full service this way, hums to Africa often audible. 9455 good with no
hum; 5875 very good; 5990 UAE however is VP, JBA back in Europe (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 11500, 11460, 11440, 11120, June 14 at 1253, and 12800 at
1259, all CNR1 jammers JBA as on the Aoki/NDXC jammed Sound of Hope
roster (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, June 14 at 0527, RHC in Spanish instead of English as
scheduled this hour --- maybe deliberately since there is no 49mb
Spanish all evening with 6060 transmitter gone for weeks. A breakdown,
or inexplicable scheduling change? As for what`s left of English, at
0522: 6165 S9+10 and JBM, 6100 best, 6000 undermodulated. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13739.240, June 14 at 1301, RHC self-knocked way
off-frequency again today after quite a normal spell on 13740.00,
while // 13700 remains .00. Something or other is always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 9860, June 14 at 0505, R. Japan ID amid news in
English, good S9+10 to S8, VATICAN relay (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7485, June 14 at 0429, anti-Christ pirate, Station
YHWH slid up to here probably to avoid ute QRM on 7480; S9+10 vs
considerable fading and noise. Still screeding past 0502, later than
usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1986 monitoring: confirmed first US
SWBC, Friday June 14 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, good S9+10/S9 and no
jamming. Also confirmed at 0150 the 0130 UT Saturday June 15 on WRMI
7780, fair in storm noise level. Next:

** U S A. 9330+, June 14 at 0428, Brother Scare on WBCQ, switched back
to the old off-frequency transmitter, after having been on the new
exact one when last checked at 0136, which was second night of testing
it, but briefer and boringer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490.1, UT Sat June 15 at 0002, WBCQ with ``William Tell
Overture`` theme to `Allan and Angela Weiner WorldWide``, S9+10/20 but
plenty of storm noise; also on 9330.1 ``classic`` transmitter, S9-S7,
somewhat less noise but also less signal, so S/N is slightly better on
the lower. AW says on all four frequencies tonight, but nothing
audible vs noise level on 5130+ or 3265-.

Quickly interrupted by a caller somewhere who I think was saying not
heard on 5130. Allan says the new Continental transmitter issue has
been fixed. Thalès in France air-shipped a replacement tube ring,
which was the part that broke and leaked water. Now it has interlock
issues --- won`t operate if there is any HV danger, apparently false
positives? At this point, 0009 it`s time for me to leave for tonight`s
Enid Chautauqua performance by ``Che Guevara`` --- the actor needs
some more Spanish pronunciation instruxion.

Over to John Carver for his full report on tonight`s AAAWWW:

``Tonight's show started a few seconds early on 7490 after some fill
music. Comments over the theme said that they were broadcasting on all
frequencies this evening and there were issues with the new
transmitter. Allan and Angela in the studio. A phone call immediately
from Freddie with questions about the transmitter. Allan said that the
transmitter has been repaired after the water leak but antenna work
was ongoing.

He said that now there was a problem with the interlock mechanism on
the transmitter. Says he would like to have a transmitter that could
operate more than twelve hours before shutting down. Says it's all
damn digital crap. Way too many computers involved. He stated that for
three million dollars the damn thing should work.

He's still shooting for a start date of July 1 but says that if
antenna work isn't finished they will only be broadcasting at night so
the work on the antenna can continue during the day.

Phone call at 0029 from Canada with questions about receivers and
antennas in general. Phone call at 0039 from Ramsey commenting on the
signal strength during this past week's tests. Phone call at 0049 from
Bill Smith in prison. Says he's getting out of prison this next
Wednesday. Reading of emails at 0054 along with another phone call
from Freddie. Allan asks him to hold on so he can read the emails.
Closing prayer at 0100.

Allan mentions that 3265 will only be running Friday, Saturday and
Sundays because of operating expense. Program was off the air at 0104.
7490 was off the air at 0111 after some more music. John Mid-North
Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 13160, June 15 at 1251, Chinese is JBA and // 11825, i.e.
CNR1 jammers. Also 14700 JBA at 1253, and 14980 JBA carrier, all of
which are against Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, June 15 at 0546, RHC English service revived here
unlike Spanish last night, since music is now // 49m frequencies: 6000
& 6060 remain OFF; 6165 is JBM, leaving only 6100 with good signal and
modulation. Its X 2, 12200 is a JBA carrier now. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, June 15 at 1257, RHC is S9+10 but suptorted.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5025V, June 16 at 0558, R. Rebelde carrier is wobbling
audibly with BFO; either that or CCI from another signal slightly
offset, but I can`t imagine R. Quillabamba could do that or even be on
air at this hour. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, June 15 at 0545, no signal from TGAV, Radio
Verdad, normally on air until about 0615*. That`s because the
transmitter ``collapsed`` per this from Dr. Madrid:

CC of a message to Ralph Wayne Borthwick, VA7GF, the engineer who has
repaired Radio Truth transmitter in the past:

``Last night by 8:30 pm (Guatemala time) [0230 UT June 14], Radio
Truth's Short Wave transmitter collapsed. It was not raining, neither
any other abnormal situation. I made the diagnose this morning, and am
attaching the results. The situation is not on my capacity, and we
need you to make the repairs. I still have to find a way to finance
your travel and repairs. I hope you are able to find a way to
Guatemala. Please unload the attachments with all details and
pictures. May God be with you. Yours in Christ.
Édgar Amílcar Madrid, Radio Truth, Chiquimula, Guatemala, C. A.``

On June 15, Dr Madrid replied to an inquiry from Manuel Mendez,
Spain:

``Yes, Radio Truth is off air from last night. Our transmitter was
burned out, and it is not on capacity to fix it. I have to wait until
Eng. Ralph Borthwick comes from Canada to fix it. I am trying to put
on the air a small anateur radio on on the meanwhile. I plan to
attempt that this afternoon. May God be with you, and keep tune.``

4055 again absent June 16 at 0557 check. Manuel forwards a further
reply on June 16:

``We may be off air for several weeks. I attempted to put on the air a
small transceiver today, but it didn´t work. We have to wait until
Ralph Borthwick is able to come to Guatemala.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550.563, June 15 at 2053, JBA carrier, probably R.
Kuwait`s Arabic to us, a widely variable/jumpable transmitter.
However, I can`t be 100% sure since computers in the house also
transmit such things all over the SW bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1986 monitoring: confirmed by Ivo
Ivanov, Bulgaria: ``World of Radio via HLR on 6190 CUSB, June 15
https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/06/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_15.html
0630-0659 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sat, weak signal``

Noel R. Green in NW England replies on the WOR io group: ``Unlike
Ivo's reception, 6190 was better than usual strength this morning at
tune in towards the end of Glenn's WOR. The signal was reaching a S-9
level on my meter at times, but even so, it was a difficult to copy
signal due to the ever present local noise``

Not confirmed the next HLR broadcast, Sat June 16 at 1430 on
9485-CUSB; absolutely no trace audible via UTwente SDR, just huge
splash from 9490 Romania.

15770, June 15 at 2056, surprised to hear me in a routine bandscan.
Yes, now showing on the WRMI skedgrid is an additional WORLD OF RADIO
airing Saturdays at 2030 on 15770. First time on this frequency, I
think, aimed NE toward Europe, mostly with SMTV daytime, but
additional stuff tacked on before and after. Despite unfavorable
azimuth for us to the NW, has been coming in better with sporadic E
boosts. Not // 9395, the only other audible WRMI frequency; 7780 JBA
carrier.

WORLD OF RADIO 1986 further monitoring: immediately repeated Saturday
June 15 at 2100 on WRMI 9955 after IS & ID loop, but upcut JIP in
theme music, missing: ``This is Glenn Hauser, with WORLD OF RADIO
1986``. Fair-good but can also detect slight pulse jamming already.

Also confirmed, UT Sunday June 16 at 0140, the 0130 on WRMI 5850, very
good.

Due to severe storm noise could not confirm at 0330 UT Sunday June 16
on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, but probably my voice amid WOR.

** U S A. 9395, UT Sunday June 16 at 0000, WRMI with new program
``Radio for Peace International``, opening with faux timepips, IDs in
French, English at least, then into woman lexuring only in French.
Checked here tnx to tip from Alan Gale, England earlier June 15 to the
WOR io group:

Hi All, I just saw this on the WRMI Facebook page: Alan.

``New program in wrmi from Friday, June 14th

RADIO FOR PEACE INTERNATIONAL is being reactivated, although the new
RFPI is not related to the old one in Costa Rica. We will emit in
Short Wave on WRMI on frequencies of 15770 kHz on Friday at 2000-2100
UT for the Maghreb, 9395 kHz on Saturday at 2000-2100 hours Eastern
Time in North America (0000-0100 UT Sunday), and on 6070 kHz in Europe
and on our website http://www.rfpi.eu

You'll be able to listen to our podcast shows on i-tunes, youtube
podcasting platforms and on our facebook page.

The broadcasts will be structured around 45-50 minute conferences on
subjects that are related to peace, humanism, human rights,
sustainable development ...

The goal is not to impose a reality but to provide food for thought so
that everyone can walk in respect, listening, sharing in order to
build peace together``

Well, if it is unrelated to RFPI CR, this is not a ``reactivation``.
We were expecting this to start the week before, Friday June 7 at 2000
on 15770 when the air was dead instead.

Contrary to the above, Ivo Ivanov says these RFPI are monthly:
``2000-2100 15770 YFR 100 kW / 044 deg to WeEu French 2nd Fri
1900-2000 on 6070 ROB 010 kW / non-dir to CeEu French 2nd Sat
0000-0100 on 9395 YFR 100 kW / 355 deg to ENAm French 2nd Sun``

But, but, altho June 14 was the second Friday, June 15 and 16,
obviously? are the *third* Saturday and Sunday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, June 16 at 1654, WBCQ-6 is on again, new
transmitter testing, with oldtime hymn, soon into Brother Scare
roarer; S9+10 with fading; much stronger than JBA 9265 WINB, 9395
WRMI, but even WBCQ cannot overcome the noise level. Recheck at 1754,
off again, neither 9330v transmitter detectable.

Manfred Korn in Stuttgart was also hearing AAAWWW June 16 between 04
and 05 on 9330, which must have been another #6 test (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12065-12120 approx., June 16 at 1348, WEWN Spanish with huge
loud spurblob audible over this range, best readable in FM mode (much
like the old RHC 13/15 MHz spurs which thankfully have not been heard
in months). Center is very approx. 12082-12083. There is also a very
weak S7-S9 AM signal on source 12050. Can`t even detect VOA Korean on
12080 until 1421 when a carrier is there under this mess.
Recheck at 1652: still readable only in Fm mode altho distorted, now
seems centered closer to 12078; 1755 recheck, same but weaker.

I notified Glen Tapley about this for the third time. This is very
like a previous report to the WOR io group by Jim Barrett:

``USA WEWN 12082 v 12085 11 Jun 2019 1400 UTC to 20:50 UTC --- Since
the 1400 scheduled sign-on of WEWN Spanish service on 12050, the
transmission has actually been centered on (approximately) 12082. The
audio is very distorted, and demodulates best in NBFM mode on my
KiwiSDR. No question that it is WEWN. In listening I have heard many
mentions of “Radio Católica Mundial”, and a dialog about Marian
devotions.

In the meantime, 12050 is completely in the clear, and I believe I am
hearing Radio Ndarason International from Tchad. Pop music and dialogs
in what sounds very much like an African language. Being received well
at 2058, though scheduled 2100 sign-off is fast approaching. Jim
Barrett, Elmira, NY``.

Meanwhile Jim has filed another report today at 1746 matching my obs,
which I forward to Tapley as his fourth notice:

``WEWN 12050, still major problems --- Sunday June 16 - WEWN is still
suffering major problems with distorted modulation on their 12050 kHz
Spanish service beginning at 1400 UT and continuing to the present
time (1745).

There is a weak carrier on 12050, with a very small amount of AM
modulation, but the bulk of the RF energy is concentrated in a broad,
highly distorted sideband centered (at this time) at about 12078,
though it drifts up and down somewhat. Even using very broad filters
on my RSP1A SDR, I can’t recover any useable audio in any mode - AM,
USB/LSB or FM.

I noted the transmitter was off air all day Wednesday and Thursday
June 12 and 13, and thought that station engineers might be working on
whatever technical problem might be causing this, but when it returned
to the air Friday, the same problem noted earlier in the week was
still present.

It’s possible that fixing the problem might require parts not
currently available, but I’m surprised that they continue running this
broadcast despite the obvious malfunction. They are certainly not in
compliance with FCC requirements for frequency stability or
modulation/spectral purity. This is not RHC. Jim Barrett - Elmira, NY
USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 88.7 WBFM, June 15 circa 1730 UT on caradio, KLVV Ponca
City OK has CCI from something, very unusual. Dxmaps.com do not show
sporadic E MUF now anywhere near 88 MHz. It`s not KWTU Tulsa, only 5
kW, since the QRM is not classical music. In Kansas there are four
88.7s, all of them very low power and not near. That leaves the most
likely possibility per WTFDA FM Database:

Glenn Hauser

** CUBA. 6100, UT Monday June 17 at 0620, RHC English S9+20/30 but
suptorted; I can tell it`s Arnie but combined with his slurred speech
it`s really hard to understand what he is saying on `DXers Unlimited`.
// 6165 is weaker but a bit clearer. 6060 & 6000 are OFF. 5040 is
still on and in English, S9+20 but with a big hum --- and in a few
seconds, modulation stops except for the hum, as I guess the
sloppyrators are finally about to turn it off late. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13740, June 17 at 1350, RHC is VP only S6-S8, unusually much
weaker than // 13700 at S9+10/20. At least neither is off-frequency
nor putting out spurs. But something`s still always wrong at RHC. 1351
starts `Estampas de Cuba` show which is not about stamps --- altho run
across for years, appears nowhen on program sked

A truly secret show! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1986 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
June 16 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, JBA.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, good, following
the crazy ``SonPower Radio on 5850, 7455 and 9395`` ID.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, JBA.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 from 0302 on WBCQ-6, 9330.00, during
a SuperStation test carrying Area 51 programming; VG S9+30/40!! while
on original 5130.371 it`s JBA. Unfortunately there is no assurance or
expectation that any WOR on 9330 will become permanent.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 at 0330 on WRMI 9955; a few minutes
earlier it was S9+10.

Also confirmed Monday June 17 starting at 1816.30 on IRRS/NEXUS 7290
via Romania, VG via UTwente SDR, strong modulation, and no ACI or CCI.
Tuned in at 1814 to some talk about gout! And into Aïda theme before
WOR started, and ended at 1845:15; ID and 1846 Feature Story News from
London. After 1900 I noticed that Dan Roberts` Shortwave Report` was
playing, i.e. recordings of a few of his favorite stations; not a DX
show.

WOR 1986 also confirmed UT Tuesday June 18 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, JBA.
Next:

0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions]
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v [and/or 2130]

** U S A. 9330.00, June 16 at 2103, WBCQ-6 is back on testing, S9+25
with gospel huxter, ID, rock music; while 7490+ is JBA at the Sunday
hour scheduled for `Marion`s Attic` which is unlistenable most of the
year on that lower daytime frequency. Too bad it`s not appearing on
9330 --- retune at 2114, now old music, as `Attic` has been picked up,
late! Enough bigsig into the NRD-545 for AMS wideband listening ---
but in this case, it just boosts the scratches on the inherently lo-fi
music. VG except for some selective fading. Presumably well over 100
kW, but no news yet that WBCQ has run the new Continental at fullbore
500 kW.

No time here for continuous listening, so I wonder if the next 7490
program, `UBMP`, followed on 9330 at 2200? Harry Shearer`s `Le Show`
would be next at 2300, but must not have been as no such closing on
9330 before 2400.

At 0000 UT Monday June 17, 9330 starting `Johnny Lightning`, so now
it`s duplicating Area 51 programming fromo 5130+v. Spot chex during
next trihour show he`s live and aware he`s also on 9330 this week.

We were hoping A51 would stick past 0300, since that would put WORLD
OF RADIO on 9330 --- and so it did, starting slightly late at 0302;
and HRI followed, but at 0400 there is disco music for an hour (?).
After 0500 ID and old `Allan Weiner Worldwide` playback from the era
when Angela was merely his girlfriend; but you never know if or when
he will mention the current YOOL date of the original live broadcast.

9330.00 at 0616 is still on with rock music at S9+20/30, strongest
signal on band.

9330.14, June 17 at 1305 next check, now back to the ``classic``
transmitter, off-frequency with Brother Scare. Which number applies to
it?

9330.00, June 17 at 2100 is next check, now on caradio, when #6 is
back on with another `AWWW` playback, but cosmikdebris and Jane
substituting, originally on March 29, 2019 as conveniently announced
at the outset. First topic is the HAARP tests by Amanda Dawn Christie,
then current. As usual, when Larry Will is doing it, he plays a good
deal of music during the hour, which AW never does. VG signal has no
trouble stopping the BST-1 memory scan.

Unchecked what appeared in the 22-23 hour, but at 2300, ``WTO`` again
and 2303 AW himself starting another WW playback, this time with date
April 4. 2019, ``didn`t want to get political, but ---`` initial rant
against income tax, which he says is illegal since the XVI Amendment
was never ratified by enough states. Really?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_protester_Sixteenth_Amendment_arguments

The hour before 0100 UT June 18 has more rock music; at 0100 yet
another `AWWW` playback, starting with cabinet resignations in Canada
some months ago, which Canadian Angela should have been following.
Concludes with `news` that Brother Stair is out of jail. 0200 back to
rock music.

AW`s twits and WBCQ website are not giving any info about 9330
programming during these tests. Program guide is even more out of date
than before, claiming e.g. that WOR is on 9330 almost daily at 2330,
which stopped well over a year ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 12060-12120 approx., June 16 at 2112, WEWN-FM still here
peaking around 12078 at S7-S5, Spanish, while correct AM frequency
12050 is only S1-S4. Most of the power is going out on this horrible
spur. Night frequency in Spanish 5970 has no such problems, a
different transmitter. Kai Ludwig says, ``I'd say the error pattern
points at the modulator as culprit``,

12065-12095 approx., June 17 at 1309, WEWN-FM centered a bit higher
around 12085, Spanish and music, vs VOA Korean 12080; while WEWN 12050
is JBA.

There has been a lot of discussion of this on the WOR iog, and I have
forwarded some of it to Glen Tapley at WEWN. Finally started getting
replies June 17, culminating at 1648 with:

``Glenn, Appreciate your info. Can your contacts take another look
this afternoon? I think we may have it under control but would
appreciate feedback. Thanks, Glen``

Such as this from Jim Barrett - Elmira, NY, who has been following
this major problem closely, to the WOR io group:

``At 1815 UT Jun 17, WEWN 12050 noted on my local SDR in the
northeastern US with clean modulation, though a somewhat weak signal.
Perhaps they had to cut back overall transmitter power to prevent the
distortion. Checked the KiwiSDR in Key West, FL where it is a bit
stronger`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 14900, June 18 at 1333, Chinese at S3-S6, CNR1
jammer only, // 15165 heavy mix with VOA Chinese. Also JBA on 14700.
13130 & 13070 at 1346 JBA carriers; 12880 at 1351, big S8/S9+10 //
11785. All these are accounted for in EiBi and/or Aoki/NDXC as CNR1
jammers on Sound of Hope frequencies, except 14700. 12455 at 1352, JBA
carrier too but write this one off since it`s 1390 KCRC kHz below
13845 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, June 18 at 0546, RHC in English at S9+20 but again with
big hum --- wiggle that patchcord! Something`s always wrong at RNC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, June 18 at 0545, TGAV Radio Verdad is back, VP
signal vs noise level; despite transmitter ``collapse``. It seems it
was just a blown fuse, but of course that could still indicate a
bigger problem. Manuel Méndez, Spain, received this early UT June 18
from Dr Madrid:

``I have good news: Radio Truth is on the air with full power. After
some checking, I decided to start transmitter. When I put power on,
there happened a strong explosion on Module B, but transmitter went on
the air with 300 watts power. Then I installed a spare Module, and it
came on the air with full power. I still need to get the 15 A, 600 V.
thermal fuse though. I adapted a regular 15 A, 250 V fuse for the mean
time. That`s a very difficult fuse to get in Guatemala. I will keep
you informed. May God bless you. Édgar Amílcar Madrid, Radio Truth``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH. 12923-CW, June 18 at 1346, a rare CQ marker: CQ CQ CQ
DE HLW2 HLW2 HLW2 QSX 12 MHZ K. That`s Seoul Radio as in EiBi, but
call shown as innumeric HLW only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, June 18 at 0551, VON on early again with song
accompanied by thumb piano, S9+10/20, but 0552 cut to humbuzz, off and
on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, June 18 at 0559, WBCQ-6 bigsig ending ``Dixie``, ID
and rock music; 0604 ``Heart of Gold`` song. 0606 replay another song
I remember hearing the previous afternoon; if only I could make out my
dozy scribbling of its title. Mauno Ritola says this ran until 1000
switch to old transmitter.

9330.124, June 18 at 1421, TOM music same as on 9395 WRMI so once
again in the mornings, back to classic transmitter, off the Super6.

9330.000, June 18 at 2108, WBCQ-6 on again at S9+10/20 with an AWWW
playback when he was talking about trains --- Monticello had a
passenger station until ~1953y; later a lengthy conversation with J.P.
On the phone about eroding privacy due to internet. Not checked again
until 0007 UT June 19 with rock music. More of that not checked again
until 0440 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12050, June 18 at 1353, WEWN Spanish is poor S7 but no FM
spurs on the high side, evidently fixed (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, June 21 at 0104, RHC English is JBM, // 6165 slightly

** CUBA. 9580, June 21 at 0117, CRI English relay is suptorted,

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. RF 26, June 20 at 1455 UT, KTEN 10-1 Ada is
decoding with NBC, along with 10-2 The CW, and 10-3 ABC, as this
station remains affiliate of two major networks, just like in the old
days when they had only one analog channel and cherry-picked which
network to run at which times.

After 1502 UT, I snapped a big ID slide, and then a multi-city super
ID over programming, Ada-Ardmore-Sherman-Denison-Durant, in
OK-OK-TX-TX-OK:
http://www.w4uvh.net/KTEN1.jpg
http://www.w4uvh.net/KTEN2.jpg

My TV DX photo archive, which could need some updating:
http://www.worldofradio.com/tvdxfoto.html

BTW, a documentary history of KTEN has appeared on OETA, and I have it
on tape. I see at rabbitears.info that KTEN is due to repack from
channel 26 to 17, why? which means it will be blocked in Enid by
K17JN-D except when it fails.

Ada is not that far, but normally beyond range, 210 km = 131 st mi,
city-to-city. This was from my higher rooftop antenna, aimed close to
Ada a bit east from OKC, into my HDTV screen.

Then I check my other lower antenna aimed more clockwise, and to my
surprise thru its STB into LDTV get a PSIP on RF 26 for 6-1, KTAL-DT!
Its own video may have decoded briefly, mixed with KTEN. KTAL is
Texarkana-Shreveport, named for its one-time Tall tower (now 1524 feet
AGL) halfway between in the NW corner of LA near Vivian. That would be
approx. 525 km = 328 stmi. I think it`s new on DTV here, while seen a
number of times when on analog 6. KTAL is staying on 26, so maybe will
be getting it more once KTEN is gone, unless something else
intervene.

Per Hepburn maps, Ada is near the center of enhanced level 5-6 tropo
ring while Enid is toward the edge at level 2-3, like Vivian on the
opposite edge (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

too late, but confirmed at 2101, Wednesday June 19 on WRMI 9955, fair
on the portable PL-880 and VP JBA on WBCQ 7490+, too weak to compare.
This WRMI transmission has usually been upcut, so I time exactly when
it ends: 2128:39. Since #1986 lasted 28:48, playout likely started
about 9 seconds before 2100:00; while transmitter does not bring it up
any earlier than that ToH moment, out of synch.

** U S A. 9330.1, June 19 at 2306, moanin` & groanin` hour from TOMBS
via WBCQ classic transmitter, no #6 yet. At 0151 June 20, now 9330.00
is on with very strong rock music. Others indicate it came up only
some time after 0130. 0537 recheck, amid an old `AWWW` dated only by
remark that he hoped Kavanaugh would be confirmed; but bits and pieces
of details about the SuperStation: says the huge copper feedline alone
cost $900K; and that total power consumption when running full-bore
500 kW, would be 950 kW.

9330.00, June 21 at 0116, 9330.00 on again with rock music; 0225 amid
another `AWWW` playback. It seems alternating those is the usual
programming in the test phase. 0300 back to rock (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WORLD OF RADIO 1987, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475, June 19 at 1828, WTWW-1 is S9-S5 of open carrier/dead
air, instead of merely undermodulated as always now. SFAW!

9475, June 20 at 1514, WTWW-1 is off, while 5830 is still on at S9+10
fading to S7 and of course undermodulated. So that rules it out as
source of some unID FM blob circa 9355 others were hearing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZAMBIA. 13680, June 19 at 1258, a few notes being repeated, an IS?
1300 into different music, poor S2-S3. Presumed Voice of Hope Africa,
scheduled to start at 1300 (except an hour earlier SaSu) per EiBi; and
not Aoki/NDXC where it`s unlisted. There, your only choices would be
CNR1 jamming and/or SOH, but this is not that. At 1405 increased to
S7-S9 with gospel? music. VOHA aims 315 degrees toward W Africa, and
us beyond. Seems to be same as this:

reelout during power outage in Enid. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
Probably getting sporadic E boost like the USA stations on 19m, q.v.
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 9455, June 21 at 1332, soft YL talk in Japanese,
S5-S8, mentions Shiokaze more than once? 1335 to kid choral song, and
then found same stronger but not synch S6-S9 on 9705. Aoki/NDXC shows
both are Furusato no Kaze at 1330-1400, but from different sites in
Taiwan: Paochung, and Tamsui respectively. Use it or lose it:
Bangladesh had Nepali at 1315-1345 on 9455; now on 4750 per EiBi but
not Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 88.3, June 21 at 1555 UT, the dead air carrier from
K202BY, the Family Radio satellator in Enid, is off. It`s been on and
dead for many months. This is quickly noticed, as I use 88.3 for the
BST-1 FM feeder in the car, which in most of Enid easily overrides it.
But in time for the widespread Enid power outage, ironically, this
carrier is back on (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. A couple brown-outs and then a blackout
interrupt our lunch at an Enid restaurant, Friday June 21 at 1833 UT.
Fortunately we started just ahead of that but there is a delay
refilling our drinx from the hi-tech dispenser. This turns out to be a
prolonged and widespread but spotty outage.

1390, KCRC is off, while its sibling stations from same studio but
different transmitter sites, lose modulation but carriers stay on:
95.7, 97.7, 106.3, 107.1. Competitors 960, KGWA and 103.1 KOFM luck
out, stay on. All of these have HQ on the north side of Enid a couple
miles apart. 96.9 and 1640, also related to KCRC but with remote
studios and transmitters, are unaffected.

Power is also out when we get home, no AC or anything, and since it`s
the hottest day of the year so far, 99 degrees, we soon head out for
cool places. Public library is still powerfully cooled, so spend about
an hour there, along with the usual homeless crowd. Monitoring some of
the stations for signs of electrical. But they might not reboot
immediately even when restored.

On library computer, checking OG&E System Outage map,
https://www.oge.com/wps/portal/oge/outages/systemwatch/
and astoundingly, shows nothing out in Enid, just Ada. Maybe it`s all
fixed already? But back home, still off. Finally notify OG&E circa
2030 UT, as should have at first rather than assuming they would have
been inundated with calls.

Might as well get some shopping in, if stores are powered. CVS is dark
with a sign on the door. Driving along US 412, clearly the outage is
very scattered. Some electronic signs are still blaring away, while
nearby traffic signals are off (but most still working). We find some
stores further west in Enid that are nominal.

Finally we hear KOFM briefly mention what happened, later found at the
Enid Eagle:

``ENID, Okla. — More than 9,000 OG&E Electric Services customers were
without power for more than four hours Friday afternoon, June 21,
2019, on the hottest day of the year so far, which happened to be the
first day of summer 2019.

A broken cross-arm on a transmission line in the city took down
electricity at about 1:30 p.m. for as many as 9,405 customers before
power began being restored around 5 p.m. for some and by 6 for most,
according to Facebook accounts and OG&E reports.``

Back home again, and running a very small fan with battery power:
94.3, KLGB-LP is also off but some other gospel huxter is there, Bott
Network no longer blotted out. At times seems same if not // 95.1
KQCV. But at 2232 UT, also south central Kansas weather. That would be
100 kW KCVW Kingman KS.

Enid: 99.9, KVBN-LP, same tower as KLGB-LP, is also off, but back at
next check 0509 UT June 22; while 94.3 is on but dead air; no one
around to reboot it? 92.1, KAMG-LP remained on with its constant dead
air.

101.5, the peripatetic KOCD Okeene is on c. 1920 with RDS as KOCD___

Nothing audible on 1390 with KCRC off, but its splatter also off
audiblizes weak signals on adjacents at 2235 UT check: 1380 from
Lawton direxion, and 1400 from Norman direxion, but with that nulled,
SAH and something weaker, probably KWON Bartlesville.

OG&E finally turns back on at 2248 UT, 4.25 hours after it went out.
Whew. Now OG&E website shows 4870 Enid customers powerless (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15825 WWCR VG, 15770 WRMI good, 15610 WEWN very good, enough
to hear its squeal, and 15555-USB WJHR audible, June 21 at 1923, all
getting big boost from sporadic E as checked on portables during Enid
power outage (see OKLAHOMA); but no boost on 21525 WRMI, so MUF into
HF but not VHF. See also CUBA. After the others are off, 15610 still
strong at 2244 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4426-USB, June 21 at 0516, robotic marine weather for

** U S A. 9330.00, June 21 at 0512, WBCQ-6, S9+20 with rock music.

9330.00, UT Sat June 22 tune-in WBCQ at 0011 and listen for rest of
hour to `Allan & Angela Weiner Worldwide` or some variant as
discussed. Appears to be a new live show, all about the SuperStation
with a constant stream of callers, and constant hum on the signal
which is apparently coming from the phone line. We glean more
information about all this, summarizing:

Now running full 500 kW, as it will be when launched as the client
insists on not one watt less than 500,000. General testing sked is 4
pm – 7 am (EDT = 20-11 UT), while the antenna crew works on it the
remaining 9 hours in the daytime. Maybe on air less this weekend while
checking out circuit breakers, etc.

Everything has to be ready for the World`s Last Chance ministries
launch, now set for Monday July 8, which will be broadcasting to
Middle East, Europe, USA and Canada [this implies the latest HFCC
registration in Arabic and English only, rather than the imaginary
worldwide multi-language schedule originally publicized].

Despite the super-power, there is very little RF blanking in the local
area, he says. Audio processor is a $14K Omnia 11, for good sound;
lo-fi audio is not good for listenability.

Transmitter is DRM capable but --- Allan is interrupted by caller
Freddy to explain what that is, before AW can finish, and does not get
back to it, but seemed he was about to say they would not be running
DRM?

At 0024, AW finally mentions that this is 21 June, YOOL 2019, so
indeed a new live show. (But not the next time it may go out.)

The Continental transmitter is made in USA, believe it or not, Dallas
TX. They use top-notch components. Very complex water cooling requires
constant attention; shift schedules are being set up. Power bill will
be in the high(?) 5-figures per month.

AW`s note to staff: put VORW on some of the test broadcasts. Also
going to simulcast Amateur Radio Roundtable Tuesday night (with 5130).
Reading e-mail and prayer, running over until finished at 0106, back
to music.

Another AWWW hour plays at 0200, and yet another oldone at 0400. In
between didn`t pay much attention but at 0339 noted that zappahead
Larry Will was in charge, apparently live, soliciting e-mail reports
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085 & 5830, June 22 at 0435, WTWW is on neither. Bob

WOR Special airing on 9330 about 2310 Sat

Glenn Hauser

Hello Glenn,

WBCQ 9330 is back on testing as of 2100 utc. They are relaying my webcast this hour, so I am going to add a special airing of World of Radio at about 2310.

For last night's test broadcasts I received reception reports from Brazil, New Zealand, Spain, Mexico, Australia, and all over the continental US.

Cheers,

Lw (Larry Will, 2117 UT June 22, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Or not, change of plans? Hearing Timtron since 2300, and apparently his show continues still past 2315. Signal is not as super as usual now. Maybe WOR later? Glenn

Then in a very quick bandscan, these are the only three WOOB ones
found 9-15 MHz, and all go off at 1300*. All three are CNR1/Sound of
Hope frequencies per EiBi, but no trace of low-power SOHs here,
off-frequency; Aoki/NDXC misses 12870, nothing between 12820 and 12880

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, K17JN-D, Enid, back on the air June 22 at 1430 UT
check; had been missing yesterday. Not only ``no signal`` but no
signal from the 3ABNers.

RF 23, KSBI ``52`` continues to be the one major OKC DTV station with
a marginal/insufficient signal to decode reliably on either of my
external antennas; STB signal meter shows it on the BAD verge. Why?
It`s never been up to par since repacking from RF 50. Which means we
can`t get reliable reception of its subchannels either, which are not
on cable: Bounce, Laff, Grit and Escape, per rabbitears.info.

For KSBI, rabbitears.info shows
1085' 1000 kW ND (E) (Vertical ERP: 300 kW)
(63.4 kW + 11.98 dB gain = 1000 kW ERP)

Compare to its owner, KWTV RF 25:
``1568' 748 kW DA (E) (Vertical ERP: 249 kW)
Directional Pattern [almost ND, minor caves]
(64.4 kW + 10.65 dB gain = 748 kW ERP)``

or the other licensed parameters, one of them temporary? Both on same
tower per precise coördinates:

``1085' 819 kW ND (E) (Vertical ERP: 245.7 kW)
(65.2 kW + 10.99 dB gain = 819 kW ERP)``

Which mean by ERP, that KWTV ought to have a lesser signal, certainly
not the case as received in Enid. I guess being almost 500 feet higher
on the tower make the difference? Will KSBI ever get raised?

As of last Nov 30, see DXLD 18-49 for an explanation of the situation

Ivo Ivanov confirms the tardiness: ``GERMANY, Reception of World of
Radio via HLR on 6190 CUSB, June 22

https://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/2019/06/reception-of-world-of-radio-via-hlr-on_22.html
0640-0709 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg CeEu English Sat, weak signal``

And Noel Green, NW England: ``Reception of HLR 6190 was also very poor
at my location on the 22nd at around 0645 UT tune in. I could hear
enough to distinguish Glenn's voice, but not much else``

gh: not confirmed Sat June 22 at 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio,
9485-CUSB: on UTwente SDR, no signal at several spot chex between 1420
and 1500, just huge splash from 9490 Romania.

Alan Gale from his location in England: ``Hi Glen[n], Nothing at all
heard on 9485 kHz again from HLR, but I thought I might at least catch
the new relay of WoR on 15770 kHz at 2030 UT, but the band had pretty
much faded out here by then. It's usually a much better signal at that
time of the day, but conditions have been a bit disturbed on there for
the past few days, even during the afternoons. It's back to IRRS on
7290 kHz at 1815 on Monday again then; at least that has been coming
in very well here in recent weeks. Alan``

Confirmed by gh, Saturday June 22 at 2044 the new 2030 on WRMI 15770,
S8-S6.

Also confirmed Sat June 22 at 2100 on WRMI 9955, S6-S8, as usual JIP
theme music after my first eleven words, as the playout continue to
start early before this transmitter switch to program feed after IS &
ID loop. Maybe I should start my utterances twice in a row.

There was a special WOR broadcast on WBCQ-6, 500 kW Super-station
test, Sat June 22 at 2130 on 9330.00, tnx to Larry Will. He notified
me ahead of time but unfortunately there was a typo giving the time as
2310, so we and those I quickly notified missed it; checked at 2310,
Timtron was on.

Confirmed UT Sunday June 23 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, very good S9+20/30.

Confirmed UT Sunday June 23 at 0334 check on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, but
too much storm noise to detect current topic nor calculate approx.
variable start time.

Manuel Méndez, Spain reports: ``7265, Hamburger LokalRadio, Goehren,

** U S A. Here`s John Carver`s version of `Allan Weiner Worldwide`, on
WBCQ, UT Sat June 22 at 0000:

``Tonight's show started just a bit early again after some fill music
on 7490. Freddie calls right after the theme song ends. I think it's
Allan and Angela in the studio as I haven't hard anyone else. Allan
says he's being broadcast tonight on the new transmitter at full
power.

Checking 9330 I have it at 20 over without adjusting the antenna tuner
or changing the pre-selector. Allan states that the tube that had the
damaged socket weighs two hundred and fifty pounds and has been
repaired. He also stated that they were renaming the program again to
Angela and Allan Weiner World Wide.

They're still working on the antenna every day between seven in the
morning till around four in the afternoon so testing only at night. He
said that the sign on date would be July 8. Freddie finally booted off
the phone at 0024 and another phone call immediately while at the same
time another telephone was ringing in the studio. Another phone call
at 0027. Again during the phone call two other phones in the studio
were heard ringing.

TimTron on the phone at 0033 commenting on the signal strength at his
QTH and again another phone in the studio ringing. Lots of good
reports from Australia, Allan says. Phone call from Canada at 0036.
Allan said that they had received a phone call from someone in
Virginia during the last test at full power. Said he guy didn't own a
shortwave radio and was picking up 9330 on the smart speaker he'd
installed in his ceiling and was asking how to stop the radio signal
from coming in. Said he wanted to stop it.

Phone call at 0039 from a FM station owner in Kansas who'd just bought
a SW receiver a month ago and had stumbled across 9330. Asked some
questions about the station and Allan asked questions about his
station. Said he had a good signal on a portable with just the whip.
Reading of emails at 0054 and closing prayer at 0101. Program was off
the air at 0105. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330.00, Sat June 22 at 2043, WBCQ-6 already on at S9+25,
song in Spanish; after 2300 it`s TimTron, and UT Sun June 23 at 0115
`Lumpy Gravy`, Larry Will & Jane acknowledging reception reports,
presumably // 5130+ buried in the noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, June 22 at 2330, WTWW-2 is off, but webcast is about
ham radio field day instead of `Theater Organ in [sic] the Ozarx`;
recheck at 2355, now webcast is stereo TOITO so I missed most of it.
By 0546, 5085 is on with rock but weak, only S9; WTWW-1, 5830 is also
on at 0549 but only S3-S7 and as usual undermodulated (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15618.2, 15557.2, 15496.1, 15435.0, 15251.8, June 22 at
2046-2047, JBA blobcarriers at intervals of 61.1 or 61.0 kHz. Question
is whether these be spurs out of a SWBC station, or some local device?
Probably the latter. The top one I first thought might be out of WEWN,
but 15610 is much weaker. I`ve often noted a JBA carrier on 15435,
which may be Sa`udi Arabia only between 1450 and 1800 (Glenn Hauser,

** CHINA. 11460, June 24 at 1416, CNR-1 jammer at S5-S7, on an SOH
frequency. Only WOOB one found in a 10-16 MHz scan, altho there is a
suspicious JBA carrier on 14700, unlisted in EiBi or Aoki/NDXC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY. 17690, June 24 at 1409, JBA carrier with flutter (or with
jammer CCI). Aoki/NDXC shows only VOA Tibetan via Lampertheim during
this hour only. Don`t usually hear a carrier here; only other signals
on band are 17615+ Saudi JBA carrier, and more than that already from
17775 KVOH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, June 24 at 0602, JBA carrier, presumed SIBC.
Seems awfully early, but Honiara sunset will be 0710, now at its
earliest; at 10 degrees south it varies only 30 minutes over the
course of a year. Wonder if they are modulating too? (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1987 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
June 23 at 2130 on WRMI 7780, just barely audible.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 24 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, fair.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 24 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, poor.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 24 from 0300.5 on WBCQ-6 500 kW 9330.00,
VG of course, S9+20/30 as has just brought up simulcast with Area 51;
at 0328 I confirm WOR also on 5130.367, much weaker S9 vs high storm
noise level.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 24 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20. Next:

** U S A. 9330.00 (I don`t write 9330.000 since I am not axually
bothering to measure it to that detail, but probably), Sunday June 23
at 2130, WBCQ-6 superpower test is on, but this week modern rock, and
not simulcasting `Marion`s Attic` from 7490 like happened partially
last week. At 2205 I find it is now = much weaker 7490v with `Uncle
Bill`s Melting Pot` including some Turkish music. Unknown what was at
2230, but before 2400 Harry Shearer`s `Le Show` is wrapping up on
9330, so that is still // 7490 unlike the 2300 hour last Sunday. At
0000 UT Monday June 24, 9330 goes into an `Allan Weiner Worldwide`
replay, instead of `Encore` classical music now on 7490, and which I
hear on webcast. Unknown what at 0100, but before 0300, another AWWW
hour is ending from at 0200 start, somewhat curtailed in order to cut
to // Area 51, 5130+ for WORLD OF RADIO, thanks! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, June 24 at 0601, S9+30 of dead air from WTWW-2, also
the constant companions much weaker plus/minus ~12.9 kHz spur carriers
just above 5072 and just below 5098. Maybe recently finished Sunday
night broadcast and not turned off yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, UT Monday June 24 at 0606 UT, surprised to hear a
program promo from WJNL, and into Jim Bohannon --- dominant on
frequency vs KGYN or whatever, with SAH of 186/minute = just over 3
Hz. Still there at 0629 UT joint ID with three FM frequencies starting
with 94.5, and ads mentioning Mackinaw and Traverse City.

No wonder I`m getting it since NRC AM Log shows WJNL is a 50 kW
non-direxional daytimer! Plus 2500 watts critical hours, which this is
not. CoL Kingsley MI, which is just south of Traverse City.

It`s in a group ``The Information Station`` which also includes:
WHAK-960, WWMN-106.3, WJML-1110, W266CS-101.1, but that does not
account for the one FM frequency I copied, 94.5.

The WTFDA FM Database is inaccessible (but not its whats new page).
Per FCC AM & FM Query searches, 94.5 would be 50 kW WYPV in Mackinaw
City, same licensee Mitten News as WJNL.

Anyhow, we have here a 50 kW ND daytimer on the air in the middle of
the night, so should get out widely if they do it again! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1550, June 24 at 1325 UT, more than two hours after LSR here
of 1115 UT, dead air from NE/SW and a SAH of 264/minute = 4.4 Hz. At
1330 UT now modulating ESPN. The only fit around here per NRC AM log
is KESJ St Joseph MO, 2.5 kW ND at day; discounting KYAL Sapulpa OK,
also 2.5 kW but eastward from here (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1700, June 24 at 1331 UT open carrier/dead air. Can`t
get a sharp DF on it; got to be either KKLF TX or twice-as-far KBGG IA

Glenn Hauser logs June 25, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CHINA. 11440, June 25 at 1414, JBA Chinese, a regular spot for CNR1
jammer against Sound of Hope.

11460, June 25 at 1414, JBA carrier, surely another CNR1 jammer. Even
as a JBA carrier the primary assumption has to be a jammer, not SOH.

11100, June 25 at 1414, JBA Chinese, CNR1 jammer.

10960, June 25 at 1415, Chinese at S3-S5, much stronger than the 11+
MHz ones. Then I scan WOOB further up:

12190, June 25 at 1419, Chinese at S6-S8, CNR1 jammer.

12880, June 25 at 1419, Chinese at S5-S7, CNR1 jammer.

13070, June 25 at 1420, Chinese at S6-S8, CNR1 jammer.

15110, June 25 at 1420, Chinese at S9/S9+10, CNR1 jammer // the rest,
this inband one vs VOA; maybe a bit of victim audio too unlike the
others with not a hint here of SOH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** MALI. 5995, June 25 at 0630, S9-S7 of dead air, as ORTM is back to
its old trix. Nor any 6000 RHC to bother it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. 13690.050, June 25 at 1352, JBA
off-frequency carrier stix out in a BFO 1-kHz step bandscan. Aoki/NDXC
shows it`s VOA Chinese via SAIPAN, this hour only. And it`s gone at
1413 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 90.1, June 25 circa 1330 UT, can`t get
classical KUCO on one of my portables, nor the other classical KHCC in
Kansas; rather some gospel huxter.

Tropo must be up from somewhere else. Can it be Tulsa like I soon find
on TV? There is a 50 watt KJZT-LP there per WTFDA FM Database, jazz
and enough I guess to block KUCO inside Tulsa. No 90.1s in eastern
Kansas. The nearest adjacent gospelhuxters are: KBNV Fayetteville AR,
7.1H/16.0 V, 142m AFR; and less likely further KSCV Springfield MO,
11/11 kW, 150m, Bott network.

Tropo is up from the Tulsa area on numerous DTV channels, without
aiming exactly that way rather than further clockwise, June 25 from
1429 UT tune-in:

RF 13, KETA OKC is not decoding, must be because of DX CCI? But no
other 13 Okies; maybe KFJX Pittsburg KS; or two in AR, Arkadelphia and
Mountain View.

RF 11, KOED Tulsa, is in just fine if we wanted to watch OETA now!

BAD signal bars on: 9, 10, 14, 21, 28, 30, 31, 34, 35, 45, 46

RF 8, `Live` no longer with Kathie Lee & Regis, probably KJRH ``2``

RF 20, KQCW-HD, 19-1

RF 22, KOKI-TV, 23-1

RF 26, KTENNBC, 10-1 Ada again

RF 34, KMYT-TV, 41-1; at 1447 UT: 41-3 Grit with `Laramie`; 41-2
GetTV; 41-1 KMYT-TV

By 1441, RF 45 is decoding as 6-1 KOTV; 6-2 CW = same as KQCW on RF
20: with KQCW-19 Muskogee bug in LR; and KOTV 6.2 Tulsa bug in UL.
http://www.w4uvh.net/KQCWonKOTV.jpg

6.3, is NewsOn6NOW, i.e. THEN, looping replays of continuous local
news, reduced SD screen so that continuous commercials run on right
side --- same thing that sibling KWTV-25 ``9`` does in OKC on 9.2.
Photoed some of this, later in DTV pixel art breakup.
http://www.w4uvh.net/KOTVNewson6Now1.jpg
http://www.w4uvh.net/KOTVNewson6Now2.jpg
http://www.w4uvh.net/KOTVNewson6Now3.jpg
http://www.w4uvh.net/KOTVNewson6Now4.jpg

KOTV will eventually repack to RF 26, when? which may explain why KTEN
Ada will be bumped off from there; per rabbitears.info, KOTV will also
continue with relays on RF 30 and 19.

RF 45 KOTV seems to hold up longest and I stick with it, as old frame
freezes and pops up again and again, until as late as 1725 UT!
Predicted tropo map as of 1500:

noise level. Next:

2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v [and/or 2130]
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780
0930 UT Friday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW

Also check 9330 WBCQ for unscheduled airings during testing phase.

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

** U S A. 9330.00, June 25 at 2255, WBCQ-6 is on again, with an old
AWWW I remember hearing before; at 2300 changes to TimTron. Inbooming
of course (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9455, June 25 at 2011, WRMI with classic rock segués, some
so short it seems like medleys, no announcements until 2017, ``for
something different, go to apsradio.com`` --- so this M-F APS Radio
transmission is not canceled, contrary to what Ivo reported June 18.
S8 and much louder than 9475 WTWW which is only S7-S9. Meanwhile the
other WRMI on 9395 is still SMTV at S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475, June 25 at 2011, WTWW-1 is on but remarkably weak,
only S7-S9 and quite undermodulated. It used to be the SSOB by far
blasting in all day. It must be grossly underpowered now, as
propagation is certainly not to blame: Neighbor 9980 WWCR is on now
during its very limited schedule, blasting S9+20/30, and so is even 10
kW WWV on 10000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, June 25 at 1335, KVOH is already on way earlier than
nominal *1400 and to boot, propagating! Praise music in Spanish, of
course, S9-S6. SSOB by far with the only other SOBs being the JBA
Sa`udi carriers on 17895, 17705, 17615+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, June 25 at 0604 UT, is 50 kW daytimer WJNL in MI again
on air in the nightmiddle? Yes! At first mixture with sportstalk,
maybe partial format of KGYN OK per DF, ads for DirecTV and NewsMax TV
[ugh! Has also been added to local cable lineup]. SAH of about
192/minute very close to same as last night just above 3 Hz.

Or is it WPHT? I see in NRC AM Log that both WPHT and KGYN call
themselves ``The Big Talker`` --- how original! But unsame lineups,
and no slogan heard which would not solve the question anyway.

0607 UT joins `Beyond Reality Radio`, in northerly null of KGYN(?)
which then fades down; 0634 UT recheck after newsbreak, promos for
1110 & 101 FM or more specifically 101.1 and 106.3. This all matches
with the group as explained in my yesterday`s report, e.g. 1110 is
sibling station WJML. But are they B.R.R. program affiliates? Yes per
http://beyondrealityradio.com/
if you let it scroll until it get to Michigan. Jimbo as heard last
night at this time was of course a playback Sunday night filler; no
new shows on weekends. Can`t find any program skeds for WJNL et al.
Are the call letters supposed to imply ``JourNaLism``? Website is
instead devoted to ``Deals``.

I`ve yet to see anyone else logging WJNL on the MW lists, where I
posted this ASAP even before including it in my multiband loggings;
was my tip not helpful? Or not noticed without a big headline of its
own? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
