Glenn Hauser

** ASCENSION. 7415, May 22 at 0614, JBA talk; HFCC shows it`s ENC in
Kau this hour only, but what is it, really? Aoki/NDXC shows R.
Ndarason International in Kan. WRTH 2019 page 511 shows Kanuri and
also Kanembu language as the only target broadcast for CHAD (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 15140, May 21 at 1432, RHC missing again today
while still on 15230 but VP. And no OMAN either. Need to check before
1400* to try to confirm whether it`s 2 x 7570 SMTV on WRMI. Which I
do, May 22 at 1355, but RHC is back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11880, May 21 at 1437, CRI Plus English relay is distorted
and overmodulated. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6060 & 6000 & 5040, May 22 at 0610, all these RHC English
frequencies are off, while only 5040 is supposed to be; leaving only
6165, S9/+10 undermodulated; and 6100 S9+20/30
overmodulated/distorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 5980, May 22 at 0158, TV Martí sound vs jamming, and
ROMANIA [q.v.] has just closed; not // 6030 Radio Martí, and nothing
on 6010, contrary to a report 23.5 hours earlier to the WOR iog:

``Noted here in NB this evening (21 May UT) at 0230 UT:
5980 kHz - TV Martí audio
6010 kHz - TV Martí audio
7335 kHz - Radio Martí
7365 kHz - Radio Martí
(nothing on 6030 kHz) -- Richard Langley``

He agrees back to normal tonight; but a sign of things to come? TVM
and jamming on 6010 will wipe out any chance for Brasil, or inactive
Colombia, Mexico, let alone the Cuban leapfrog before 0100 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 15410, May 22 at 1430, S9-S5 in Chinese and a bit
of English. Aoki/NDXC shows it`s CRI Chinese this hour only from
Kashi-Saiba site, a.k.a. Kashgar (near the Uighur concentration
camps. Such does not disqualify from participating in HFCC!)
Specifically 500 kW at 300 degrees toward Europe, one of countless
transmissions thus, and often carrying on to central N America when
little else does; likewise routine CRI English on 15590 via Urumqi
(NOT ``Urumqui``) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17549.98, May 21 at 2119, JBA talk, the OSOB after KVOH
closed VG 17775 circa 2100. Got to be R. Kuwait`s very optimistic
central/western-USA target service in Arabic, scheduled all year at
2000-2400, 250 kW at 350 degrees, but just starting to propagate now
a month from Solstice with maximum, but only partial insolation on
the near-polar path. Note local time at takeoff ranges from 23 to 03;
who else would ever consider broadcasting on 16m at such hours, let
alone to the other worldside? I had just checked WWV at 2118 to hear
the K index as zero, which helped (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, May 22 at 0612, no signal from VON; believe it has
also been absent a few nights now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 27185.217-AM, May 21 at 2317, country ballads, lo-fi,
speaker-to-mike? Steady S9+10 and the OSOB with no skip, local Enid
CBer, would-be broadcaster (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7420, May 22 at 0156*, RRI cutoff shortly after
tunein a bit early during music, as I am checking // to 5980 with JBA
music mixed with Cuban jamming and TV Martí sound; but it had been
producing a medium SAH which is gone as soon as I get back to 5980
whence RRI has also vanished (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, Tue May 21 at 2055, WRMI is on with IS & ID loop, but
2116 recheck is OFF. #10 transmitter continues suffering from
irregularity. Let`s hope it`s on and stays on for WORLD OF RADIO 24
hours later on Wednesday. If not, check whether WBCQ 7490+ again run
WOR at 2130 instead of 2100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, Wed May 22 at 0604, WWCR continues to run this
transmitter with nothing on it, OC/DA at S9+20; while 5935 DGS is
fadier, S9+10/20. Both 4840 & 3215 are now BSing (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200, May 21 at 0608, mystery open carrier still, S1-
S3. No one else reports it, and might suspect local to here but it
does exhibit propagational fading and lots of variation in strength
from one log to the next. Who cares? The thing is, it might develop
into something significant or interesting if we keep after it.

9200, May 21 at 1438, JBA carrier at S6-S3 also audible this time.
Now could be CNR1 jammer/Sound of Hope, which Aoki spans 2151-1530,
but propagationally surely not what I am getting in the nightmiddle
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report despatched at 1727 UT May 22

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.971, May 23 at 1324, JJBBA carrier from LRA36 on
another active Thursday. All I am likely to get here, but one may
hear some programming via closer remotes such as Brasil (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1983, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 13870, May 23 at 1329, CNR1 jammer S8-S4 vs RTTY, // CNR1
jammer on 11785. At 1336 searched 10.9-14.0 MHz for more of them, but
none found; rather three just below 15.0:

14920, May 23 at 1336, CNR1 jammer strongest, // 11785 and also 9680
CNR1 jammers; 14900 and 14980, cannot make // so maybe really Sound
of Hope. Or // but not synchronized. Aoki shows 13870, 14920 and
14900 as jammed SOH from Miaoli, Taiwan; 14900 as SOH relaying Radio
Free Asia via Pingtung, Taiwan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. Correxion: exact frequency on May 13 was 13739.239 (like
other logs of it), not 13739.289, typo; fixed:

13739.239, May 13 at 1347, RHC S9+10 and auto-knocked off-frequency
again today. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12200, May 23 at 0615, RHC English at S6-S7, 2 x // 6100:
MUF holding up; no harmonics from other 6 MHz channels, but two of
them are OFF: 6000 and 6060, while 6165 is on but VP; also fighting
high local noise level of S9 on 49m band. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1983, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12000, May 23 at 1336, RHC Spanish is S7-S5 on 2 x 6000
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, May 23 at 2153, RHC dead air at S9+10 while weaker
11850 successfully Spanishes. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550-, May 22 at 2133, MOI is once again a JBA carrier
slightly on the low side, yet achieving OSOB status. Not audible 24
hours later (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, May 22 at 2136, RNZI audible S2-S3 with
something about the Andes. Now getting into deep-winter conditions
onto lower frequencies, ex-13840. Sked today shows: 2059-2258 11725,
then from 2259 13840, which usually improves during the evening here,
now running until 0459 for an hour on 9700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD
OF RADIO 1983, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, May 23 at 0631 check, VON still absent (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1983, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 92.1 WBFM, May 22 at 1830 UT on caradio, Spanish gospel
huxter, so KAMG-LP Enid is back on the air after 21 months! There
goes what would have been a prime frequency for the sporadic E DX
season. Altho a strong opening could override this.

Continuous preaching with praise music background, mentions Coahuila
several times, but phone 620-626-8282 for prayer petitions.

That would be KZQD-FM 105.1 in Liberal Kansas (not heard here, OK
station blox) which radio-locator.com claims is Radio Liberdad [sic],
in Spanish but not specifying gospel huxterism. WTFDA DB however says
it is Spanish religious, Radio Libertad. So the source of KAMG-LP?
But cannot be picking it up directly like a translator.

By 1900 UT in music only; 1902 ID in English as KAMG-LP, 92.1, Enid;
and in Spanish as ``Radio Vivir, 24 horas al aire``.

Yes Vivir, the infinitive, ``to live``, not Viva or Vida, as
confirmed by close listening May 23 at 0602 after praise music from
0557 UT tune-in; IDs a minute or two past top-of-hour, clock running
slow? Then plugs and seems to intro same Liberal, Kansas predicator
as 11 hours ago, but back to more praise songs.

WTFDA FM database does have it currently as 68 watts H and V of
silence from a horizontal-only height of 37 meters

No mention of Maranatha which it was previously affiliated with as
satellator:
http://www.maranatharadio.com/stations
now forwards to https://www.raybentley.com/
as Maranatha Radio with podcasts in English; stations include WRNO
7505 but no OK FM, and no times for any.

FCC and Radio-locator.com claim still owned by Maranatha Radio Corp.
Far from its roots as a real local station, but FCC approved sale.

Previous KAMG-LP info as in DXLD:
OFF as of 1/31/19, and before that as of 2/16/18
Last logged ON, but distorted as of 8/25/17 in DXLD 17-35
It was back after dead air for weeks, as of 8/20/17, in DXLD 17-34

Follow-up about ex-DXer John Broomall involvement, DXLD 17-30
John Broomall involvement, Community Christian Broadcasters,
discussion of FCC info listing address as 627 E Carrier Road, which I
visited without finding it, only residences, in DXLD 17-27 -- which
refers to earlier discussion in DXLD 13-41, q.v.

The original transmitter site I visited when first on the air is a
couple miles further west on the other side of US 81/60/64 (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 12030, Thu May 23 at 2157, REE music fill of that majestic
bullfight theme, after presumed Arabic and not // 11940 & 9690; 2200
timesignal and `La Linterna Magica` about the cinema; podcast archive:
http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/la-linterna-magica/
Not laterna; now all // (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1982 monitoring: a problem with
both stations Wednesday May 22 at 2100: WRMI-10 is still having big
problems on 9955: no signal before or after 2100, but I leave a
receiver on 9954-USB to notify me if it come on: which it does at
*2116, S8-S9 JIP WOR --- but cuts off again at 2124*. By 2130 it`s
back on for Wavescan.

WBCQ 7490.17v: WOR poorly audible at 2104 --- but it`s the previous
week`s 1981! With Ron`s Bhutan logs. 2129 music fill, and then, and
then, at 2130 --- WOR 1981 repeated! starting with QSL for
Antarctica. You may recall that last week, WBCQ did this: 2100
Goddess Irena, 2130 WOR 1981, swapping their previous times. If two
WORs are to play in a row, please make it the penultimate, and then
the ultimate. But who knows what may happen next week.

** U S A. 9955, May 23 at 1318, WRMI-10 is off again. Must be having
serious problems, supposed to last until 1400; also came on for only
8 minutes of WORLD OF RADIO yesterday. 9395 on and easily audible as
usual. 9955 was not always on the #10 transmitter, as shown on the
current skedgrid. Perhaps they can change to another, but not all
transmitters can be connected to any of the antennas, and this one is
supposed to stay at 160 degrees. #4 is currently off completely,
maybe out of order too? It had been on 9455 at 160 degrees. Several
other transmitters are much less than full-time and might be
available (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, May 23 at 0620, WWCR dead air at S9+10; 5935 with PMS
is OK, and 3215 with Brother Scare, but 4840 is also dead air (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12050, May 23 at 1335, WEWN Spanish is distorted and
splattering (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17775, May 23 at 1406, KVOH unusually propagating S9
already this early shortly after sign-on; but I don`t find any
significant sporadic-E activity on 6m or 10m maps --- so the Es MUF
could be as low as 18 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13152, May 23 at 1333, beeps = carrier cutting on and
off, at slightly uneven rate of about 24x per minute (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17590, May 23 at 1409, something JBA, the OSOB except
for 17775 KVOH. HFCC only lists Saudi Arabia in English at 1200-1500!
But *any* English from there is surely imaginary. Possibly a special
from Vatican Radio, which EiBi and Aoki show using 17590 at other
times (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 0036 UT May 24

Glenn Hauser logs May 24-25, 2019

** ALGERIA [non]. 6050, May 24 at 0435, fair ME songs and then Arabic
announcement, i.e. TDA via FRANCE as scheduled this hour only. But
certainly not the Qur`an service as listed.

HCJB is quite weak here until 0230, but extends two nights a week to
0500 when there will be a collision --- or rather Issoudun will wipe
out Pico Pichincha. HFCC says days 6 & 7 which mean Friday and
Saturday, but no sign of it now, so really UT Saturday and Sunday?
WRTH shows no such extension beyond 0230/0235 anynight, degraded to
only 1 kW. Nor does Aoki/NDXC, reminding us that Tibet is also on
6050 thruout, but it`s daytime there. EiBi does show HCJB at 0233-
0500 Fri & Sat only, in Spanish, not Kichwa. Need to check whether
HCJBe there just before 0400 on which nights. UT Saturday May 25 on
6050 I do have a JBA carrier 0232-0237+; kept thinking it cut off,
but merely fading to nothing and back up. Still there at 0328 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.97, May 24 at 1710-1815, tnx to tip from Dan
Robinson to the WOR iogroup, LRA36 on the air Friday and heard via
Pardinho SP SDR in Brasil, which seems to be the best one for this.
The entire hour+ was music, no IDs or any announcements: a tragic
loss of opportunity to diffuse Antarctic culture, politix, native
music, history, scientific achievements, etc. Also could discourage
QSL seeking with no significant program content to report. Bruce
Churchill also recommends the much further SDR in Iceland, a total-
water path like SP (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** AUSTRALIA. 5045-USB, May 24 at 0954 I happen to awaken so a rare
chance to check for WORLD OF RADIO on Unique Radio, now scheduled at
both 0930 & 1000 Fridays. Not surprisingly I get no trace of the low
-power signal here; but I do have a JBA carrier on 5055 from presumed
4KZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9570, May 24 at 1332, CRI relay S9 but just barely
modulated; much softer than 9640 RHC. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ECUADOR. See ALGERIA [non]

** EGYPT. 9900.175V, (meaning varying slightly, audible in real time)
May 24 at 2147, JBA talk by YL, 2153 ME music, 2201 talk; S5-S7 on
inside longwire due to storm; quick attach of outside LW boosts to
S8-S9 but still far too much storm noise. Surely the R. Cairo English
broadcast scheduled on 9900 at 2115-2245 but has been inactive as x-
ed in Aoki. HFCC shows 125 kW at 325 degrees from Abis to W Europe;
and the closest thing to a North American service by extension. I
don`t recall any previous reports of it so far off-frequency but
certainly a Cairo capability (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 92.1 WBFM, May 24 circa 2030 UT and earlier, later chex,
KAMG-LP Enid in open carrier only. That was quick: As in previous
report, I had just found it reactivated after 21 months on May 22 as
``Radio Vivir``.

Suspect another cynical example of going on the air *only* to
preserve a license, but not interested enough to keep broadcasting,
yet preventing anyone else from getting the frequency. At FCC FM
Query, I do find that the original KAMG-LP was granted a license to
cover on February 27, 2007. and clicking on the pdf Authorization,
``This license expires 3:00 a.m. local time, June 01, 2013``. Another
six years would be a week from now! So at least the licensee is
paying attention to the calendar.

While I am at it, a quick check of other area FM stations with dead
air:

88.3, K202BY, Family Radio translator has been open carrier for many
many months, meanwhile getting an STA to be *off* the air, which is
not the same thing as on the air transmitting nothing! Perhaps they
can`t tell the difference back at KEBR-FM HQ in California?

89.1, K206CA, Oasis Network translator of KNYD(FM); often dead air
and this time has been for a few days at least.

90.3, KHEV Fairview, relay of KHYM seems on but dead air now. Maybe
caused by recent/current storms. With 490 watts, gets into west side
of Enid best.

101.5, KOCD Okeene, satellite of KWDW-LP 93.9 OKC is still out of air
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENINIG DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 9690, Friday May 24 at 2202, REE`s Justin Coe introducing a
4-movement serious music piece, sounded like ``In Memory of Tonal
Music`` by Strauss, but that does not compute. Podcast archive is
running a week behind, but per WOR Hitlist, should eventually show
at:
http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/audios/emision-en-ingles/
S9+10 but vs heavy storm noise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1983 monitoring: [see also
AUSTRALIA]. Confirmed first NAm SWBC, Friday May 24 at 2200 on WRMI
9955, poor in storm noise but I listen to the whole thing until 2229
to be sure it`s intact with no transmitter failures.

Also confirmed UT Saturday May 25 starting at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair
S9/+10 but still too much storm noise. Followed familiar bit of World
Music fill at 0129 and Ian McFarland ID at 0129.5, no WOR upcut.

** U S A. 7490.16v, UT Sat May 25 at 0000, WBCQ William Tell Overture
introducing `AAAWWW`; heavy storm noise so I copy only bits, not
necessarily correctly. 9330+ is a bit better for a while: crazy,
crazy country; the $15 special deal on 5130 is over; could get $200
an hour. Recheck 0048 with a caller discussing Iran; now down to
7490.14v. Thales has mailed out something today. Water and big tubes
don`t mix. That`s why there have been no tests the past week.
Everything is under warranty. Prayer, etc., runs over a bit to end of
AAAWWW at 0103. John Carver`s computer was out last week, but fills
in details this week:

``Tonight's show started a few seconds early on 7490 after a bit of
fill music. Allan and Angela in the studio. Tom is there also working
on the computers. Allan seems to be in a better mood this evening.
Allan begins with a strange musing on Memorial Day and wonders why we
need war and memorial days anymore. This quickly morphs into a one
sided dialog with god. Allan then stated that Angela had gotten a
Maine driver's license and is working on her US citizenship.

Said that there had been some setbacks with the transmitter for the
superstation and they were waiting on parts and a crew from the
transmitter manufacturer to install them. They had a water leak in
the water cooling system and the PA tube and its socket were damaged.
Tom mentioned that it would take four men to move the tube. Allan
said he wasn't impressed with the design of the new transmitter.

Phone call at 0045 from a woman with a reception report and it turned
out she had recently been in Iran so that was discussed for awhile.
Reading of emails began at 0056. Closing prayer at at 0100. Show was
off the air at 0103. Some dead air for a few seconds and then some
music. 7490 was off the air at 0107. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9265V, UT Fri May 24 at 0400 tune-in to wobbly WINB playing
the Star Spangled Banner at S9+10/20, as if signing off; not quite:
then starts playing another version of SSB but talking over the first
part of it with sign-off message in anthem desecration. Plays to end
but at 0402: Dan Curtis wishes good day and wants to save me. ``Don`t
you want to go? I`m goin` to heaven ---`` and *then* cuts off the
air. Bye!! Seemed late hour for WINB, had been closing earlier, but
they are very flexible with schedule span depending on airtime sales.
Website shows now: daily except UT Sunday from 0300 is `Worship At
Home`, which we now know must be a full hour long. I think that`s
also on WRMI. Final WINB show UT Sunday starts at 0230, so probably
finishes an hour earlier at 0300. Annoyingly, WINB never publishes
its sign-off times, let alone true duration of programs. As for Dan
Curtis, he is not on the list at

but he did not give any other title for his minis-try. Poor Dan! Or
was it Don. Off to heaven before he can even get started (Glenn

** EGYPT. 9900.175 & 9895v, May 25 at 2059, 2120 and 2209 chex, no
signals at all from R. Cairo unlike yesterday. Richard Langley, NB,
to the WOR iog provides 100% confirmation of the precise frequency I
logged:

``I started listening to Radio Cairo on nominal 9895 kHz yesterday
(24 May) around 2040 UT using a Field BT portable with just its whip
antenna indoors. This is just before Glenn's report of yesterday. The
signal was good but heavily distorted as usual. It was difficult to
tell that accented French was being spoken. Music seemed slightly
less distorted. There was also a persistent whine (600 Hz). Checked
using the U. Twente SDR receiver where the signal was stronger but
equally distorted and the AMSync frequency was 9895.175 kHz. Audio
(except whine) was cut between about 2100:05 and 2108:47 UT and then
returned. Time pips (quite clear) at 2115 and then start of English
program but hard to tell at times it was English. The transmitter
stayed on this frequency until about 20:31 UTC [sic, must mean 2131]
when it switched within some seconds to 9900.175 kHz. Should have
been on this frequency since the start of the English program, I
believe. English program continued to about 2245. Transmitter stayed
on without audio (except whine) until about 2323! -- Richard
Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550.02v, May 25 at 2117, R. Kuwait JBA carrier is the
OSOB, in its foolish doomed Arabic transmission for C&W NAm.
Previously was on the minus side (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** NIGERIA. 7254.940, May 25 at 0550, VON is back after a few days

usual with a prélude of African choral music at S9/+10 (Glenn Hauser,

** NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. 13690.050, May 25 at 1338, JBA carrier,
confronting splash from 13700 Cuba; off at 1358. Scheduled is only
VOA Chinese via SAIPAN, this hour only. Likely also jammed, but even
before the typhoon, this site was known for offfrequenciness (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

only carrier but modulation, May 25 circa 2030; the other absentees

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1983 monitoring: via UTwente SDR,
confirmed Saturday May 25 from 1431 on Hamburger Lokalradio, 9485-
CUSB, so propagating, sporadic E short-skip boost? But with horrific
splash from Romania 9490. Still has not flipped to LSB as I proposed,
which would have helped somewhat. HLR is dedicated to staying on 6190
& 7265 no matter what, since those are legacy W German regional
frequencies, SFB and SWF, but that does not apply to 9485, so they
could move completely, e.g. 9480. Was also audible at first check
1415 during MN+. Alan Gale, England, reports on his direct reception:

``Hi Glenn, I can confirm that World of Radio was on 9485 kHz on HLR
today, though thanks to the splatter from the station on 9490 it was
only possible to hear the odd word now and then. It was definitely
you though, and I did hear your 'Glenn Hauser concluding' message at
1459 UT when the other station went quiet. As you said, it would
definitely help if they were on the lower sideband, but at least the
IRRS broadcast [Monday 1815v] on 7290 kHz is very strong here at the
moment so I will continue to listen to that one instead. Alan``

WOR 1983 also confirmed Saturday May 25 at 2100 on WRMI 9955 after ID
& IS loop, but joining WOR 5.5 words late, upcut ``rld of Radio 1983
---``. I keep half an ear on it for the rest, hoping it stay on
unlike Wednesday. No, cuts off the air at 2111*, back on at 2119 or
maybe a minute earlier. Meanwhile 9395 kept going, and there were no
storms in Florida at this time. Next:

`Weekend Radio`, comedy stuff from WCLV we listen to every week now

ruined on KUCO, interrupted 5 or 6 times this hour for tornado
warnings, with those horrible tones, and instead of clear talk, a
pileup of multiple echoes as different stations --- nodes? in the
chain are all coming in at once! Isn`t it about time the EAS got
their act together?!?! Not necessarily blaming KUCO for this
situation altho did not check how they were coming across other
stations. This was the hour when the tornado hit El Reno. I`ve yet to
hear any newscast utter the *names* of the motel or trailer park. Is
this info being deliberately suppressed? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX

** U S A. 5085, Sat May 25 at 2329 tune-in, WTWW-2 has already
started `Theater Organ in the Ozarx`, so I listen on webcast. Unseems

** U S A. May 27 starting at 1900 UT, less than one semihour after
local mean noon, bandscans on caradio from central Enid at a fairly
quiet parking lot, at least so at the long end of MW/low end of MF.
No storm noise now, but increasing line noise higher in the AM band.
I skip over many frequencies, only some notable items:

530, `K530AM`, Vance AFB is still off and maybe gone forever, rather
than inane loops of Ad Council PSAs, interspersed with occasional
imaginary IDs and never heard with any traffic or emergency info. As
in DXLD 18-30, it had been ``off the air again for a few days`` as of
July 18, 2018 --- and never heard since despite regular chex. If it
does resume, I shall be sure to report it.

560, fast SAH, maybe 20 Hz, presumably KWTO MO and KLZ CO at the
limits of their groundwaves 300+ and 400+ miles. But MWOffsets has
KLZ at .0000 and KTWO only 0.3 Hz away at .9997 --- nothing anywhere
near 20 Hz away

630, JBA talk, presumably KHOW Denver with far better Ogallala
Aquifer conductivity than KYFI St Louis beyond the Ozarx

650, JBA talk, presumably KGAB Orchard Valley WY (Cheyenne) as
previously under optimum GW conditions, like the Denverites

670, ``Call to Freedom`` program with Denver address: KLTT Commerce
City CO (Denver), a regular at the margins with 50 kW; no WSCR today

1070-, KFTI Wichita KS, country, is OFF! Very unusual; Memorial
holiday break? Hope they are fixing their off-frequency-minus
transmitter; yeah, sure. KNX beware. But this allows weak 1080 KRLD
Dallas to be heard without splash. KFTI still off at 1948 check

1090, weak religious talk, no doubt 10 kW KEXS Excelsior Springs MO
(Kansas City); highest frequency daytime GW from that area, 300+
miles, continues to amaze me

1130, KLEY Wellington KS, still OFF as has been for some weeks now

1190, medium SAH, presumably our two closest but also too far: KVSV
Beloit KS, and KFXR Dallas TX

1230, WBBZ Ponca City OK, is OFF! Very unusual for this semi-local
which has not been noted with any techdiffs. Another holidayer? Still
off at 1949 recheck. Nothing else audible, like the only other Okie,
which I *need*, KADA, where else but, Ada?

1460, KZUE El Reno OK, still on unlike offknocked by previous
tornado. Spanish talk, and PSA in Spanish for ``The Marines``! So not
plugged into Mexico City yet.

Re the name of the hmotel in El Reno hit by tornado, I finally got a
glimpse on KFOR of their sign still standing, American Budget Inn, I
think. Then reporter verbalized it: American Value Budget Inn, or
Budget Value per the grafix. Confusing.

1580, KLTR Blackwell OK, now it`s 1909 UT, dead air, while sibling
1020 KOKP Perry OK is nominal. I think there has been flooding in
Blackwell

88.3 and 92.1 Enid are still open carrier/dead air; nearby 89.3 &
90.3 are nominal.

93.5, rock?, fading in and out, Es? 1927 ``My Country 93-5``, so the
only hit on the WTFDA Database is KKDT Burdett KS, 95 kW H&V, 304.8
meters. Why should a town of 247 have such a big radio station? Maybe
because it`s midway between Jetmore and Larned. Wherever there
happens to be a kilofoot tower available? Burdett is 248 km = 154
stmi NW from Enid. Tropo from KS is slightly enhanced

101.5, Spanish but not gospel huxter KOCD nearby Okeene, still off.
Not to be faked out by ``La Mexicana``, fading 1918 ads and ID for
101.5 and 92.9, i.e. 100 kW KSMM Liberal KS way out by Guymon in the
OK Panhandle, relaying 92.9 KMML Cimarrón KS (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK,

** CUBA. 15369.25, May 28 at 2122, JBA carrier; must be the RHC
transmitter previously caught knocked off a similar amount below
13740 and 7380 upon occasion. 15370 is the European service scheduled

** CUBA. 11760, May 28 at 2126 RHC Spanish is S9 but suptorted;
wiggle that patchcord. While 11850 is undermodulated but not

** CUBA. 5040, UT Wed May 29 at 0538, this RHC English frequency,
S9+30/20, is the only listenable one with normal modulation level,
altho somewhat rough during `DXers Unlimited` as Arnie runs lickety-
split and slurred with something about a 52-cm antenna, soon
finishing. I had already checked: 6000 JBM/suptorted at S9+10/20;
6060 OFF; 6100 JBM S9+30; 6165 JJBBM S9+10. Something`s always wrong
at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1230, May 28 at 2115 UT and May 29 at 1333, WBBZ Ponca

See also UNIDENTIFIED (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1580, May 28 circa 1400 UT, KOKB Blackwell is still dead
air on open carrier. At least it is on the air, altho accomplishing
nothing. In previous report under USA daytime bandscan, I called it
KLTR! It`s really been KOKB since --- 3/20/84, 35 years ago. Oops.
Fixed:

1580, KOKB Blackwell OK, now it`s 1909 UT, dead air, while sibling
1020 KOKP Perry OK is nominal. There has been flooding in Blackwell.

But why? Somehow the program feed from Stillwater studio has been
cut. Why not turn off the transmitter in the meantime? Maybe site is
inaccessible by flooding, and/or there is no funxional remote control
--- now or never?

Still on with dead air at 2115 UT check May 28, and at 1333 UT May
29. Nothing about this found on the website
https://www.eteamradio.com/
Flooding in Blackwell is still reported May 29 (Glenn Hauser, Enid,

** SAO TOME. 9830, May 28 at 0642, poor signal in African language.
HFCC Shows Deutsche Welle in Hausa this semihour only, 100 kW at 0
degrees, i.e. north toward Nigeria rather than non-direxional? Just
like another broadcast on same at 1800-1900 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 12030, May 28 at 2128 REE in music but not // 9690 & 11940,
altho all are scheduled in Spanish, 12030 being the odd one with ME
target, even tho it`s always better here off the back, than 11940 for
South America. At 2130, 12030 5+1 TS, into Arabic, ``Huna Madrid``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1983 monitoring: what will happen Wednesday
May 29 at 2100? Will WRMI come on 9955 and stay on? Will WBCQ play
1982 or 1983 on 7490+v at 2100 and/or 2130? More predictable will be
UT Thursday May 30 at 0100 on WRMI 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, May 29 at 0533, S9+30/40 of dead air from SFAW via
WTWW-1, still so at 0545 check. Coincidentally, 5935, WWCR-2 also
dead air of S9+20/30 at 0537, but resumed PMS by 0545. At least 5890
dead air is not on now. BTW, WWCR skeds at
http://www.wwcr.com/transmitter-sched.html
expire May 31. From June 1 there could be some adjustments in
timespans, which in this version are complete as if 24 hours on each,
even tho program skeds admit much less usage, especially of WWCR-4
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1070-, May 28 at 2115 UT, and May 29 at 1333 UT, KFTI
Wichita KS is still off the air. Nothing about this at website
https://www.classiccountry1070.com/
which even still refers to its old call KFDI! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1230, trying to get some DX while semi-local WBBZ Ponca
City is off; at least KADA. Best times will be circa SR/SS for nearby
skywave but not full of graveyard QRM. May 28 at 1408 UT is really
too late, but I do detect two or three JBA carriers. May 29 at 0058,
vs storm noise from SE OK, have some music looping NW/SE as Ada would
be; NRC AM Log says format is rock as ``Pirate Radio 102.3``; at 0102
end Fox News theme from N/S. Guess what, there is not a single 1230
in Kansas. Two in Nebraska, neither listed as Fox. Texas? Ten, of
which two are SS, and the only TX Fox in the Log is KWTX Waco, but
that`s hardly enough to go on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200, May 29 at 0548, mystery open carrier at S8; it`s

** CHINA [and non]. 15800, May 30 at 1335, CNR1 talk jammer is JBA
along with a second carrier beating, // 11785. Aoki/NDXC shows this
is a jammed Sound of Hope frequency. Then I hunt for others WOOB.

14920, May 30 at 1339, CNR1 is JBA, another SOH* as listed

13150, May 30 at 1340, JBA carrier, but not a listed SOH* frequency
between 13130 and 13160. Aha, that would be local mix KCRC 1390 + RHC
11760.

12100, May 30 at 1343, CNR1 JBA: but no jammee or jammer listed

11150, May 30 at 1345, JBA carrier, SOH frequency listed by EiBi but
not Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15369.24, May 29 at 2030, again today RHC way off-frequency,
this time with Arabic audible, VP S4-S6. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1984, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1230, May 30 circa 2225 UT, WBBZ Ponca City is still off
the air; due to flooding? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WORLD OF RADIO 1984,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1580, May 29 at 1925 UT, shortly after my previous
report, KOKB Blackwell has finally resumed modulating // 1020 KOKP
Perry, with Stillwater ad, whence both of them originate. Flooding
may be abating now if that was the cause of modulation loss, tho
carrier always stayed on (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WORLD OF RADIO 1984, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 88.1 WBFM, May 29 at 1923 UT, manipulating the PL-880
telescopic, I get NPR via KWOU Woodward as preferred, but in a
different position, carrier with dead air, which must be the station
it always confronts depending on which has a slight tropo advantage,
KMSI Moore OK. No significant tornadoes in Moore AFAIK this time. In
WTFDA Database, I see that KMSI is 50 kW Vertical polarization only,
while KWOU is 23.5 kW H&V and somewhat further. There are three Oasis
Network gospel-huxters in OK on 88.1, KMSI, KDIM 100/100 kW Coweta
and a translator in Miamuh (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 92.1, May 29 at 1923 UT check, KAMG-LP Enid is still on
with dead air and may remain so for months until something fails.
It`s beyond me why anystation will do this, paying the electricity
bill while it could be accomplishing something by resuming modulation
at virtually no additional cost; as it did for one day when it first
came back last week (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 15825, May 30 at 1751, WWCR-1 with Brother
Scare, as the creep creeps onto more and more frequencies. EiBi shows
him already M-F at 1700-1800. Now it`s // 13845, but at 1806, 15825
has split to some other g.h., while 13845 prolongs TOMBS (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

missing my entire first phrase, ``This is Glenn Hauser, with WORLD OF
RADIO 19-83``; I keep an ear on it, and this week transmitter stays
on until at least 2129. On WBCQ 7490.2v, WOR is back to 2100 plus a
few seconds behind WRMI, but much weaker. at 2130 can barely make out
the late Goddess Irena I back to her old slot.

S9 vs storm noise.

** U S A. 9455, May 29 at 2037, long mostly-dormant WRMI frequency is
back on, sounds like Oldies stream, S8-S9 (while 9395 music is
different, from SMTV); 2045 ``On Broadway``, segués, no
announcements; 2055-2057 several off/on transmitter breaks, seems
stronger after the last one, S9+20; 2059 WRMI ID by BB, 2100* off and
stays off.

It`s not Oldies, but a new programming source, as explained by
Richard Langley, to the WOR io group:

``Listening to 15770 kHz today (27 May) after 1200 UT, one might
think that it's the "Oldies" feature presented by Bob Biermann often
heard on 9395 kHz and other WRMI frequencies. But, no. It's APS
Radio, a new feature. It was announced yesterday on the WRMI Facebook
page:

"APS Radio begins on WRMI tomorrow, May 27, from 1200-1300 UTC
Monday-Friday on 15770 kHz to Europe, and from 1900-2100 UTC Monday-
Friday on 9455 kHz to North America.

APS Radio is internet radio which features five music channels and a
news & commentary channel. APS Radio is not only internet radio; it
is radio streaming, online radio internet broadcasting, music online
and online music.

It is internet radio & radio streaming with no commercials. APS Radio
is an internet radio consisting of aggregated channels. APS Radio is
online radio, internet broadcasting, internet radio, music online and
online music. APS Radio is music online, a radio streaming service, a
radio stream & streaming radio.

[OK already, we get it, redundant redundant redundant --- gh]

Internet radio has the capacity to span the world; internet radio and
radio streaming and online radio and internet broadcasting that can
be heard anywhere. APS Radio is an internet radio & radio streaming
that can be heard anywhere.

This is internet radio & radio streaming, commercial free. Internet
radio is free and worldwide. Internet radio and radio streaming can
be accessed from anyplace, commercial free.

APS Radio is an internet radio service that consists of music
channels and a news & commentary channel. Please enjoy the rich
sounds of Internet radio commercial free.
http://www.apsradio.com/home.html"

Heard this morning using the U. Twente SDR receiver. 15770.001 kHz
came up at about 1157 UT with "top-of hour" sign-on announcement.
Fairly good signal into Europe, averaging about S9. Almost non-stop
vintage pop music with occasional IDs. First ID heard at 1232 UT.
-- Richard Langley``

But who owns it, finances it, where is it and what does APS stand
for? Only this is found on website under Trademarks:

``The name APS Radio was created and registered as a trademark by the
owner of APS Radio. APS Radio is an acronym standing for Atlantic
Pacific Systems. APS Radio and Radio Orenovscotia are registered
trademarks.``

Where is it? ``45N`` appears all over the website; is that a
latitude? That happens to be the parallel across Nova Scotia, north
of Halifax!

Classical Track has a current playlist in EDT, another clew, not ADT.
But which of their multi streams will be on these 15 hours a week of
SW? Another obscure ``station`` on the web is taking the SW plunge.
Are there ever any APS Radio IDs?

Confirming on the WRMI skedgrid, I see another new one: ``Radio for
Peace International``, Fridays only at 2000-2100 on 15770 extended an
hour. That would be the new European program, no connexion with the
original and much-lamented RFPI Costa Rica (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD
OF RADIO 1984, DXLD)

** U S A. 1069.977, May 29 at 1925, shortly after my last report, I
find that KFTI Wichita KS has come back on air after several days;
why off, storm damage or flooding? ``Classic Country 10-70`` [sic].
Meanwhile did nothing to correct its off-frequency, re-measured as
above at 1535 UT May 30. MWOffsets had it:

1070 1069.9793 USA KFTI (Wichita, KS) [-1070.0045 range] 2018-01-02
which means an annoying 21.2 Hz SAH or LAH against KNX:
1070 1070.0005 USA KNX (Los Angeles/El Nido, CA) 2017-10-31 i IBOC
when both are audible, tho KFTI nightpower cuts from 10 kW to 1

** BRAZIL. 11856.763, May 31 at 0619, VP S4-S5 music, as R. Aparecida
has varied way up to here, not only above nominal 11855, but above
11856 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [non?]. 11895, May 31 at 0617, poor signal, talk in Chinese?
HFCC, Aoki/NDXC and EiBi agree that during this hour we have CRI in
English via Kashgar, East Turkistan, 209 degrees for Pakistan; and
RFA in Mandarin, 78 degrees via Kuwait for C&E China; and except for
HFCC, which Sees No Evil, therefore jamming, which EiBi labels as
CNR1 or Firedrake. Anyhow, something from over there is midnightly
propagating solsticeally (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6165, May 31 at 0211, RHC English is OFF, leaving only 6000
which is S9+10/20 but as usually, undermodulated. 6060 Spanish is
also OFF. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12200, May 31 at 0612, RHC English good at S8-S9, just as
readable as its fundamental 6100, S9+10/20, a nice indicator that the
MUF is up, despite no RHC or WRMI fundamentals on 25m. Back on 49m,
6000 & 6060 are still AWOL, while 6165 is JBM at S9-S7. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11860, May 31 at 0618, weak S1 residual noise jamming
audible, on a Radio Martí frequency active only in the daytime.
Something`s always excessive at the DentroCuban Jamming Command
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR [and non]. 5009.931, May 31 at 0332, JBA carrier,
presumed RNM on signature off-frequency; checking after Zanzibar
6015; then I tune 5915 for Zambia but nothing there (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, May 31 at 0251, XEPPM with good modulation for a
change in a song, S9/+10. This season there is no Vatican or anything
else to collide all evening here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7440-7615, May 31 at 0335 and later, nothing from
Station YHWH, which Ron Howard and Walt Salmaniw have heard
reactivated after many months on 7480, 7495 sporadically around this
time last few nights. I remember he once used 7615 too (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1230, May 31 at 0155 UT, looking for DX in absence of WBBZ
Ponca City, but now it`s after sunset when there is plenty of other
QRM: briefly atop is a Rangers silly baseball game, 0156 break for
ad, but if local cannot copy it. DF seems NNW/SSE.

Texas Rangers provides map and station list on one page as of
5.21.19!
https://content.mlb.com/documents/5/4/8/302771548/2019_Map_Rangers_Radio_Network_Coverage_Area.pdf

On 1230, there are two:
KSEY Haskell TX, near Wichita Falls, SSW of here, W of Arlington
KSST Sulphur Springs, in NE TX, SE of here, E of Arlington
(but in Waco not on KWTX), so KSST is more likely by DF. I am no
station-counter so less than 100% certainty is no problem. It is what
it is (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZANZIBAR. 6015, May 31 at 0328:50 tune-in, presumed ZBC is already
on, as I was hoping to catch its cut-on, which Ron Howard says is now
around 0330, JIP programming after official sign-on at 0300. S9 but I
can`t hear much modulation. Others report their other frequency 11735
active but weak; I used to hear it before 2100v* but not any more
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 15340, June 1 at 1244, soft song at S3-S6 with
flutter, 1246 Chinese talk. Aoki/NDXC shows jammed SOH relay of RFA.

9230, June 1 at 1319, Chinese and music // 11785, CNR1 jammer against
Sound of Hope. EiBi shows SOH on 9230.1 but not a jammer. Aoki/NDXC
shows both on 9230. No het audible here.

15165, June 1 at 1335, very heavy CCI in Chinese, i.e. VOA via
THAILAND this hour only, vs CNR1 jamming. The latter goes off at
1400* when VOA has already quit (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6165, June 1 at 0438, RHC English is about S9 of dead air,
or maybe JBM? 6000 likewise but slightly audible; 6060 Spanish is
OFF. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 4765, June 1 at 0440, surprised to find R. Progreso carrier
still on, after nominal 0400*; maybe a trace of modulation?
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, June 1 at 0448, RHC Spanish is S8 of dead air or maybe
JBM. Still on and the same at 0547, but S5-S7. Supposed to quit at
0400 per Aoki/NDXC, and nothing else scheduled afterwards.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15230, June 1 at 1335, RHC S9 but very undermodulated; much
louder on S9+20 15140. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY. 9370, June 1 at 0443, music and talk in uncertain
language, VP S2-S5 vs storm noise from TX; where I have not noticed
anything before. HFCC shows 0430-0630 IBB Lampertheim in Fas, i.e.
Radio Farda, as confirmed by Aoki/NDXC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490+, UT Sat June 1, at 0000 sharp, WBCQ starts playing
``William Tell Overture`` theme to `Allan and Angela Wiener
Worldwide`, but without any interjexions, intact complete until 0003,
a bad sign that something may be wrong. Then dead air, while I
recheck 9330+ to find that one still BSing instead of // 7490+. At
0006:40, WTO starts all over! This time AW comments, ``no more
repeats, we`re here from Monticello, Maine`` and fades down theme
before it complete again. Hard to copy anything due to weak signal vs
nearby storm noise level. Not rechecked until 0043, when now it`s
Pirate Joe, J P Ferraro instead of AW but with similar voice and
accent; so I don`t know what happened in the meantime, and haven`t

Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6900-AM, June 1 at 0435, JBA carrier; could be a pirate
where there is not normally a carrier; even YHWH? Which I still have
not been able to detect on the 7 MHz band (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 10775, June 1 at 1316, open carrier as S1-S4 and then
off. Thought it might be Sound of Hope/jamming, but not listed on
this frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 1638 UT June 1

Glenn Hauser logs June 1-2, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** CHINA. 13870, June 2 at 1349, CNR1 jammer with modern Western
classical music, `cello during the usual Sunday evening concert hour,
// reliable 11785 jammer. Then before 1400, I bandscan and find a
whole bunch more WOOB: 13890 fair; 14640; 14980, 12870 strong S9;
11120 JBA and 11100 stronger; JBA on 14700; JBA carrier on 10960.

Consulting Aoki/NDXC and Aoki I then find the above are known jammed
Sound of Hope frequencies, EXCEPT: the strongest, only EiBi has as
SOH on 12870.2; 10960 is SOH relaying RFA, per Aoki; EiBi says
10959.8 but nothing about RFA. 14700 not listed.

At 1358 I settle on 12870 where now there are super-hype voice actor
announcements, commercials? 5+1 timesignal and OFF at 1400*

[I also had to sort out some carriers mostly JBA which turned out to
be local KCRC overload mixtures with strong SW frequencies:
10490+1390 = 11880 CRI via Cuba; 10370+1390 = 11760 RHC;
8880-1390 = 7490 WWCR] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9640, June 1 at 2113, RHC dead Spanish air at tune-in, then
cuts on modulation. Had it been silent since *2100? Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6060, June 2 at 0518, RHC English is OFF; same has also been
missing earlier for several nights when scheduled in Spanish. That
leaves: 6000, 6100 and 6165 in English, all JBM = just barely
modulated; and well-modulated 5040 is still in Spanish instead of
English this hour. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 12200, June 2 a 1341, RHC Spanish is S9+20/30! While it`s
2x6100, this time the transmitter has got to be tuned up on 12200
instead, to be this strong, rather than ``accidental`` harmonic
leakage. On 6100 all I have is a JBA carrier, maybe Urumqi eastward
from the concentration camps in Mongolian. // 6000 is still on and
audible at S7-8, but producing no 12000 harmonic. 12200 is equal to
fundamental 11760 at S9+20/30. Meanwhile, 13700 is off, but 13740.0
is on. At 1400 recheck, 12200 has gone off. 6100 was supposedly sked
only until 1300. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

Now something`s also wrong about the programming. Arnie`s Spanish DX
program `En Contacto` is supposed to run at 1335-1350 Sundays, but at
1340 I am hearing slanted news. At 1346 starts `El Mundo de la
Filatélia` for the next 18 minutes. Per own sked
http://www.radiohc.cu/interesantes/programacion
that`s supposed to be at 7:10 & 10:10 am Sundays hora de Cuba,
misconverted as plus 5 for UTC = 1210 & 1510, rather than current
plus 4, 1110 and 1410 UT. So they are running either 2:36 late or
0:24 early! At 1422 on 11760, `Somos Jóvenes` is wrapping up. Only
morning time for it on above schedule is 1155-1215, UT conversion
corrected. So now it`s 2:07 late (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 9860, June 2 at 0525 something VP in English; O, it`s
NHK`s 0500 broadcast via VATICAN southward. Also on 5975 via Austria,
11970 via France (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17549.638, June 1 at 2102, R. Kuwait, S1-S3 but best heard
yet this year, Arabic talk, and the OSOB = Only signal/station on
Band! That`s more like it, typically knocked way off-frequency,
rather than just a few Hz above or below 17550. The incredible
yearound 20-24 UT broadcast to C & W North America propagable only
around summer solstice.

15535-15540-15545, June 1 at 2105, DRM noise at S2-S3. Got to be R.
Kuwait, English to W Europe and USward scheduled only 1800-2100 but
late turning off. Sigh; remember when it used to be AM? OSOB except
for 15370.0 Cuba and 15825 JBA carrier trace of WWCR (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND [and non]. 11725, June 1 at 2108, RNZI in English, S4
-S1 and with a fast SAH, sure sign of co-channel QRM, which could
well be a more severe collision elsewhere. That could only be, per
HFCC, NHK in Japanese at 2000-2330, 300 kW due west from Yamata; not
a good share (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, June 2 at 0117, unID pirate with rock
music, SFX; 0124 seems off or faded out; 0136 beepery so SSTV? Also
unID by these loggers, altho at 2345 June 1 it had been Pee Wee.
Someone thought the SSTV looked like something seen previously on
Skippy Radio
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,54576.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1984 monitoring: confirmed
Saturday June 1 at 2100 on WRMI 9955; after IS & ID loop at 2059, S8
-S6, but again WOR playback is upcut, JIP in theme after my first
eleven words (if 19-84 count as three); still on at 2109 when it`s
S9.

Also confirmed at NEW time of UT Sunday June 2 at 0130 on WRMI 5850,
S9+30/20 yet with considerable fading and not enough to totally
override storm noise level; on NW beam same as 7570 with TOMBS, same
S reading but rock solid.

Also confirmed UT Sunday June 2 at 0327 on WA0RCR, MO, 1860-AM,
S9+20/30 including storm noise level which makes me JBA but can tell
it`s at end of mid-break, then Indonesia, so started circa 0313.

** U S A. Delayed in the e-mail, here`s John Carver`s report on
WBCQ`s `Allan and Angela Wiener WorldWide` for UT June 1 at 0000:

``Tonight's show started on time on 7490 this evening after some fill
music. Dead air after theme song. Checked 9330 and it has Brother
Stair yammering away. Back to dead air on 7490. Theme song starts
again at 0007. Allan, Angela and Tom in the studio. Dead air again at
0011 and then some music fill. I have the feeling that this will be a
repeat episode. Pirate Joe breaks into the music with the WHVW call
sign so I guess we're listening to one of his shows. A break at 0027
with Pirate Joe saying that the feeds have been crossed. Then he
starts begging for funds to keep 3265 on the air and tells people
about the PayPal link on the station's website. Says he doesn't know
how the AAWW theme got into his feed. Then he starts reading an
article from a magazine. Program was over at 0100 and 7490 was off
the air. John Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, June 2 at 0116, WRNO is OFF; seems it has been
whenever checked for a few days now; you never know, then it will be
back there as if nothing had happened (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 1240, June 2 at 1301 UT, Wichita, ``Sports Radio KFH, 1240
AM, 97.5 FM`` and join ESPN. 97.5 is a mere translator, K248CY, per
NRC AM Log, yet misquotes ID as with 98.7 FM. WTFDA FM Database shows
98.7 as KNSS-FM, News/Talk, CoL Clearwater not Wichita, and not //
with 1330 AM altho that is now KNSS, since 1330 & 1240 swapped calls
several years ago. I slid up here after another attempt to ID
anything on non-WBBZ 1230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7555-LSB, June 2 at 1312, Spanish 2-way, exchanging a
lot of numbers; fishing poachers catch, or drug shipments? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs June 2-3-4, 2019

Glenn Hauser

** ALASKA. 9685, June 3 at 1037, Chinese talk about the Bible: KNLS
scheduled 1000-1200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4925, June 3 at 1018, M&W talk eventually recognized as
Brazilian intonation on a frequency normally unheard in the evenings.
EiBi shows Rádio Educação Rural, Tefé, but not until *1103.

Logs this hour are during a surprise power failure I first noted
awakening at 1002; no telling how long it had been off. The entire
neighborhood was dark before dawn`s earliest light. There were no
storms around here to explain it. Notified OG&E ASAP and it came back
on at 1056.

Meanwhile caused computer and other problems. The breakfast table DX-
392 will no longer turn on, nor my main computer. Using the DX-398 on
batteries with indoor reel-out antenna. No QRM from local devices, but
still some ``line noise`` detectable from somewhere, especially on
lower bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 9180, June 3 at 1041, CNR1 jammer // 6125 on a Sound of Hope
frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 5975, June 3 at 1028, Korean here without jamming. Because it
is CNR-8 scheduled 0600-1500 per EiBi. Is that for Korean minorities in
China, and/or North and/or South? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, June 3 at 2059, RHC opening the tarde transmission with
frequency list, in typical Soviet-style disorder: 15370, 13740, 11760,
11850, 9535, 9640, 5040 plus the 4 FMs. All are then audible except
13740, which has been imaginary this season; only in the mornings as in
EiBi; but Aoki/NDXC does not show it even then. 11850 dead air until
JIP a minute later. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH. 5995, 6003, 6015, June 3 at 1029 heavy noise jamming:
against Echo of Hope, nothing, and KBS respectively per Aoki; EiBi does
not show it on 6003 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550.0, June 3 at 2052, R. Kuwait, Arabic talk S0-S2, bold
C&W NAm service, not the OSOB now since 17815 WHRI is on as the SSOB,
with a sporadic E boost (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1230, June 3 at 1059, as I am hoping to ID something
domestic just before our sunrise 1115 UT [almost to earliest 1113 in a
week], instead I definitely hear in the graveyard jumble the choral
strains of the Mexican NA, looping roughly south. IRCA Mexican log
lists only 6 on 1230, uncertain status for some (vs 13 on 1240 which
don`t have to protect clear channel 1220). The closest and most likely,
especially if on 10 kW day power, is XEIZ, Radio Fórmula, Monterrey NL,
also in the UT-5 zone where a NA would be expected at 6 am CDT (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, June 3 at 0611, VON is gone again (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SINGAPORE. 9900, June 3 at 1035, discussion of sexual harrassment of
women in the UK. BBCWS at 1000-1200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1984 monitoring: confirmed Sunday June 2 at
2130 on WRMI 7780, JBA.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 3 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/20.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 3 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 but heavy
storm noise.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 3 starting late from 0309 on Area 51
webcast; at 0328 check on WBCQ 5130.37, S9+10 with heavy storm noise.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 3 at 0330 on WRMI 9955 S9/+10 with less
storm noise, and not upcut but brief overlap with preceding fill music.

Also confirmed UT Tuesday June 4 after 0100 on WRMI 7780, fair in
noise. Next:

0800 UT Tuesday Unique Radio 5045-USB NSW [2 editions]
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v [and/or 2130]
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780

[it appears we will now be running on a Friday-to-Thursday cycle, so
freshest new airings are on weekends]

Full updated schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.htm
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5800, June 3 at 1025, Oldies and soon WRMI ID on unlisted
frequency we have heard them testing(?) before, but what are the
details? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 21525, June 3 at 2054, WRMI Radio Africa is in strangely-
accented evangelical French, S8 but deep fades to S1, best heard in a
long time thanks to sporadic E opening also into the FM band (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. It seems that the sporadic E DX season has been slow to start
this year, with only one FM log in May, but as I am napping to Dvorak`s
New World Symphony from 90.1 KUCO-FM, on the PL-880 some occasional
interruptions at 2105 UT June 3, by NPR ATC --- could have been KHCC in
KS, but more like sporadic E volatility.

Since I am then getting only FL and GA, 90.1 could be WJUF Inverness FL. But more likely:

WXVS, WAYCROSS GA, 79.0/77.6 kW, 280.0m, 31-13-17, 82-34-24, GEORGIA
PUBLIC RADIO. Further chex don`t get any ID on this, but I start tuning
around for more DX.

90.7, June 3 at 2105 UT, NPR ATC //90.1. This is one of few `open`
frequencies here besides plenty of ACI above and below. Surely WMFE-FM
Orlando. 100 kW at 223m.

90.7 soon overtaken by smooth jazz. Jazz is the format of another
closer FL, WKGC-FM Panama City, 100 kW.

92.1, June 3 at 2112 UT, local KAMG-LP is still on with dead air, but
manipulating the antenna can allow some other stations to capture.
First, something in Spanish that is not KAMG! M&W conversation. 2120,
another peak with a phone number starting 904-469. AC 904 is the NE
corner of FL around Jacksonville. Another peak at 2131 discussing in
Spanish préstamos – loans from FHA and USDA. WTFDA FM Database has
three SS on 92.1 in FL, but this is the only one that fits:

WJXR, 92.1, MACCLENNY FL, 25.0 kW H&V, 100.0m, 30-17-54, 82-00-55,
Spanish, TROPICAL, LATINA 92.1

92.1, June 3 at 2113 UT, Spanish WJXR is replaced by English talk, 2118
ad for Guardian Bank, program promos on Talk 92.1, back to Ben Shapiro
Show. Guardian Bank is in Valdosta GA, near Adel, and that slogan
matches only this:

WDDQ 92.1 ADEL GA 2.6 kW H&V, 154.1m, 31-08-15, 83-23-41, TALK, TALK
92.1, //WSFB 1490

93.3, June 3 at 2133 UT, ad for car dealers on ``Mile of Life`` (?),
``93.3 The Beat``. That leads to:

WJBT, 93.3, CALLAHAN FL, 98.0 kW H&V, 302.0m, 30-16-51, 81-34-13, HD,
1C99 BOGUS KEUB, Rhythm and Blues, URBAN CONTEMPORARY, 93.3 THE BEAT

The thing is, I was tuned to 93.1; on 93.3 itself there was nothing but
CCI hash. BTW before 2130 I added the DX-398 with RDS capability, but
none of the Es DX signals were strong or stable enough to display any.

99.5, Unidentified, June 3 at 2138 UT ad in Spanish by super-hype voice
actor, fades for ID, mentions Guerrero. There are no 99.5s in that
state. If I am still getting Florida, could be WLLY-FM in Palm Beach
Gardens, 6 kW H&V, 100m; or a bit of KBIJ, Guymon OK groundwave, 100
kW, 82.0m (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9200, June 3 at 0610, mystery open carrier is still
around, S4-S6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 0145 UT June 4

Glenn Hauser logs June 4-5-6, 2019

Glenn Hauser

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

** CUBA. 9535, June 5 at 0001, RHC frequency announcement, not the
whole SW list but just 6060 plus the 4 FM frequencies. What does she
know? NOT that 6060 is NOT coming on now and never does, totally absent
all evening both in Spanish and English. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, June 5 at 0002, RHC is S9/S9+30 but JBM in English;
while 6165, the only possible parallel, is off. Since CRI in Spanish is
also on 5990, S9+20/40 but very undermodulated, those two account for
the weak carrier on 6010, leapfrog mixing product. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, June 5 at 0012, music on RHC is splattering out at
least plus/minus 15 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6165 & 6000, June 5 at 0348, both RHC English frequencies are
now on but both are JBM. 6060 Spanish is still OFF. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11980, June 5 at 2312 weak open carrier, presumnably second
harmonic of 5990 where CRI relay is JBM. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550.22 approx., June 5 at 2308, JBA carrier from R.
Kuwait`s Arabic to C&W N America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 7480, June 5 at 0352, S7-S9 but JBA vs noise level,
soon hit by huge S9+10 ute buzz for several seconds. Can`t copy at
first, but sounds like the insistent intonations of Josiah on Station
YHWH. Peaks stronger at 0358 and no doubt it`s YHWH with usual screed.
Still going at 0413 recheck, but off at 0423.

I had notified the WOR iogroup ASAP, which got this reponse from Walt
Salmanniw: ``Thanks, Glenn! That indeed is YHWH, but at a very poor
level into Victoria, BC, unlike a few days ago. Very low modulation.
Interesting, that remote Perseus SDR in Aberdeen, NJ is about as strong
or better than my reception. Don Moman's SDR is occupied. Whatever
happened to the 3 SDRs there? Now down to one only for a few weeks now.
Playing the "Satanic" sounding song at 0418. And gone at 0422. 73,
Walt`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1640, June 5 at 0520 UT, KZLS ``Enid``, really east of
Hennessey to put more signal into OKC with its NNW/SSE direxional
pattern, unusual for an inland X-bander, in dead air. So I try nulling
it for access to WTNI or anything else, but still too much KZLS, which
makes me wonder if it`s still on 10 kW instead of 1, while WTNI may be
on 1 kW instead of 10! By 0540 UT KZLS has resumed talkmod (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 92.1 WBFM, June 4 around 1430 UT, this frequency occupied
by KFXI Marlow, talking about stuff concerning its county, Stephens.
It`s due south of Enid on US 81 betwwen Chickasha and Duncan. 100 kW
but not normally audible, even when KAMG-LP was off. Now with some
tropo it overcomes the KAMG dead air easily (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, June 4 at 1440 UT, K17JN-D, the 3ABN satellator in
Enid, is off the air. The best it could do for some months was
subchannels 1, 3 and 5, while 2, 4, and 6 were black/blank, while
originally all six were funxional. June 5 at 2250 UT I find the
carrier(s) on but with weaker than normal signal bar, still no program
transmissions (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 42, KBZC-LD is still unrepacked. With some regional
tropo enhancement, barely decoding June 4 at 1445 UT. Believe I saw a
Get TV bug on -3; while -5, -6 and -7 are all some kind of shopping.
Don`t you believe this is in Enid as licensed, really in OKC.

RF 20, KQCW is the only DX decoding; there is also a Bad signal on RF
45, probably either KOTV Tulsa or KSNW Wichita, altho it could be the
15 kW KOHC-CD in OKC itself which I think I have never IDed (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 11990, June 5 at 2313, RRI in Spanish ID, surprised to find
here, // 11800, and I think still on 11700 under RHC where it`s been
colliding. I thought 11700 & 11800 were the only two frequencies. EiBi
does not show 11990, but Aoki/NDXC does. However, HFCC A-19 shows four
frequencies for Spanish at 2300, not including 11990! --- 9700, 9760,
11700 and 11800, all for the full A-19 season, altho half of them might
have been alternates, with two matching azimuths. EiBi, however, does
show 11990 as an RRI frequency Sundays only at 0800-0900 in Romanian
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9830, June 5 at 2305, VOT still on S7 and in German,
spurious transmission since English was not turned off before 2300
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1984 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday June 5 at
2100 on WRMI 9955; after IS & ID loop, less upcut than usual, just
missing ``This is Glenn Hau----``; good signal still there at 2127
wrapup. But simultaneous schedule on WBCQ 7490+v unconfirmable on a JBA
carrier both at start and finish, now in the summer noise doldrums.
Missed checking the 0100 UT June 6 airing on WRMI 7780.

Note that 1985 may be delayed as I am in process of getting a new
computer, and way behind in processing info (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5970, June 5 at 0351, no signal from RCM, WEWN Spanish. Had
been reliable here at night and 12050 at day (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1230, June 5 at 0017 UT, WBBZ Ponca City is still OFF, so
I try again to ID some DX on this graveyard. At the moment there is a
heavy 2.0 Hz SAH, between a music station, suspected my closest KADA
Ada, and some talk station (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1450, June 5 at 2035 UT near Perry OK on I-35, two
stations mixing, one of which is certainly closest KGFF Shawnee OK,
making a SAH of about 190/minute or slightly over 3 Hz. In Enid it`s
KGFF vs KSIW Woodward, but now we are out of range from Woodward, so
what could it be? No 1450s in eastern OK, but the next closest must be
KQYX Galena KS, named for the wonderful lead mines in this SE corner of
Kansas, but address in nearby Joplin MO. IIRC, call KQYX used to apply
to some genuine Joplin station (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5980, June 5 at 0350, open carrier at S9/+10. Nothing at
all is scheduled, but suspect it`s Greenville B left on the air between
TV Marti ending at 0300 and Radio Marti starting at 0700. No jamming
audible now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 770, June 7 at 0535, YL song in Spanish has just faded up
replacing WABC which faded out [see USA]. Immediately matched to 5025,
so it`s Radio Rebelde, 10 kW in Las Tunas-Victoria (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9570, June 6 at 1351, CRI relay in music, distorted.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, June 7 at 0559, RHC English is JBM/suptorted; 6060 is
off as usual; 6100 undermodulated but sufficient at S9+30; 6165 S9/+10
but JBM. 5040 had been VG S9+20/30 but just now to dead air and off;
12200 at 0601 is a JBA carrier, 2 x 6100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. UNIDENTIFIED. 9155, June 7 at 1051, another mystery open
carrier, S9+10/20. 9200 is audible too but a JBA carrier now, probably
the SOH/CNR1 radio war. I try to be sound asleep during this
unfamiliar daypart. O, Aoki shows:

``9155 0955-1050 CUB Cuban Spy Numbers Spa Bejucal 1246`` – days =
Sun/Mon/Wed/Fri and this is Friday. We know these transmissions
include dead air, and this one is on a minute overtime (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 940, June 7 at 1112, tropical music from N/S, 1114 maybe ID
just at our earliest sunrise, but too much splash from local 960 KGWA.
There are no US SS along this axis, and very likely XERKS Reynosa,
Tamaulipas, 1/1 kW, with a romántica format. Some other 940s have left
for FM, per IRCA Mexican log, such as XEYJ in Coahuila, but not
including XEQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1310, June 7 at 1103, choral Mexican NA loops between S and
SSW; 1105 announcement by super-hype voice actor, probably full ID but
just too much QRM. From direxion, timezone and power, most likely is
XETIA in Guadalajara (as in tapatía), but lesser stations also in
Taxco, Monterrey and Puebla if not the CP in Querétaro. Then it`s
overcome by another SS from east/west, must be Unitedstatesian, i.e.
KZIP (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1230, June 7 at 0031 UT, music segués on strong signal,
must be semi-local WBBZ Ponca City reactivated, as of UT June 6 since
it was certainly not on the day before. First noted off May 27
following storms and flooding so that`s 11 days lost, during which I
did not gain much luck definitely DXing on this graveyard. Yes, at
0048 UT, ``Thanks for staying with us, Sunny 104.7 moved to 1230, with
Delilah on the air every evening`` – that change happened quite a
while ago as I previously commented; while sibling station really on
104.7 is now something else. Continues with some PSAs (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PHILIPPINES. 9794.976, June 7 at 1055, JBA off-frequency stands out
in a USB 1-kHz-step bandscan (my usual method). Soon recognize ``Jesus
Saves`` IS of FEBC, interspersed with IDs? unreadable maybe English;
1100 switch to other theme music and tonal language. Aoki/NDXC shows
it`s an hour in Vietnamese from the Iba site (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1985 contents: Antarctica,

WORLD OF RADIO 1985 monitoring: confirmed first US SWBC, Friday June 7
at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S4-S8; tsk, I myself intuned a few seconds too
late to evaluate any upcut.

Also confirmed UT Saturday June 8 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9/+10 vs
storm/noise level, fair, no upcut following Ian ID (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890, June 6 at 0415, WWCR is S9+10 of dead air except for
some hum, about same level as modulated 5935; at 0453, 5890 is off and
5935 has declined to VP level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, June 7 at 1045, WTWW-1 is S9+10/20 of dead air instead
of SFAW; for quite a while now it had been merely undermodulated
(Glenn Hauser, OK, dx listening digest)

** U S A. 770, June 7 at 0533 UT, WABC ID in passing amid adstring.
Not often makes it here, 1300+ miles from NYC, with the KKOB Santa Fe
230-watt filler more likely. WABC soon fades out completely as music
fades up, matched to Rebelde, Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 1310, June 7 at 1106, noticias and La Caliente ID in
passing, looping E/W, just faded up over a real Mexican [q.v.]. NRC AM
Log shows it`s our closest to the west, KZIP Amarillo TX, U1
1000/88/500 watts psra, where they know how to spell hot (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9610-9630, June 7 at 0348, rapid clicking of OTH radar
right smack dab in the middle of the 31m broadcast band --- but
luckily(?) no broadcasters are audible in this range (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. 12500, June 8 at 1254, JBA signal, presumed CNR1 jammer vs
Sound of Hope as in Aoki/NDXC. No other WOOB ones noted now (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, June 9 at 0550, RHC English with big hum during jazz
song, yet better than any of the 49m //s: 6165 S9+10 JBM; 6100 S9+20
JBM; 6060 off as always now; 6000 S9+20/10 undermodulated for a poor
runner-up. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 17550.0, June 9 at 2103, R. Kuwait, Arabic from S0 to S3,
just for us in C&W USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, June 8 at 0614, VON is S9+10/20, but just barely
modulating! About like competitor for the JBM crown, 6165 RHC.

7255-, June 9 at 0558, VON is S9 to S9+10, but again JBM during
drumming IS, which is great to hear when possible (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, June 8 at 1545 UT, K17JN-D, the 3ABN satellator
constituting Enid`s only local TV signal, is on the air and back to
``normal``, i.e. active programming on -1, -3 and –5, black dead air
on -2, -4, and -6, which nevertheless display same full signal level
on the STB, yet ``NO SIGNAL`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 9320 // 12080, June 8 at 1238, ``A Whiter Shade Of
Pale`` by Procol Harum, as soon outroed in otherwise Korean
announcement. VOA Korean plays a lot of great music from The American
Songbook, to which K-Pop does not hold a candle. Both these are 250
kW, 21 degrees from Tinang, PHILIPPINES, carrying on well back to the
USA far beyond Koreas (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1985 monitoring: Manuel Méndez,
Spain, reports: ``6190, Hamburger LokalRadio, Goehren, 0610-0700,
08-06, English, program “Media Network Plus”, at 0629 ID “Hamburger

0630-0659 6190 GOH 001 kW / 230 deg to CeEu English Sat, weak to
fair``

Barely confirmed, theme detected, Saturday June 8 at 1430 already
(instead of 1431-) on Hamburger Lokalradio, 9485-CUSB, via Utwente
SDR; as usual huge splash from 9490 Romania. I find best audibility is
in AM with 3 kHz bandwidth, rather than USB.

Confirmed Sat June 8 from *2101:29 on WRMI 9955, cutting on the air
late and JIP WOR at S5-S1; such are the risks of being the very first
program on a given transmission. Still on air at 2108, 2123 chex.

Also confirmed UT Sun June 9 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, VG but with some
deep fading.

Also confirmed UT Sun June 9 at 0327 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, vs high
noise level, more line than storms, and can`t tell where I am in the
show to compute variable start time, but an inserted WA0RCR ID is
clearer.

Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria, reports:
``GERMANY, Reception of World of Radio via HLR on 7265 CUSB, June 9

** U S A. I missed checking most of `Allan and Angela Weiner
WorldWide`, UT Sat June 8 from 0000 on WBCQ 7490v et al.,
``quadri-casting``? allegedly on all four frequencies, but John Carver
reports:

``AAWW --- Tonight's show started on time on 7490 after a bit of fill
music. Allan and Angela in the studio. Talk about it finally warming
up in Maine and the black fly problem. Then into talk of the D Day
anniversary. Ramsey calls at 0020 and continues the discussion which
by now has morphed into the treatment of the Jews since the time of
the Romans. Some Trump talk and questions about what's wrong with the
Democrats in Congress. Another phone call at 0030 from a man who
visited Allan and Angela at the station last weekend.

Turning to the superstation, Allan says it should be on the air by
July 1. Parts for the transmitter have been received and the work on
the antenna is almost finished. All that's left on the antenna is to
tighten the reflector screen. Will be testing the last week of June.
Mentioned that the ERP of the antenna would be twenty megawatts.

Phone call at 0047 from Mr. Transistor Norm. Reading of emails at 0056
and closing prayer at 0058. Program was off the air at 0100 and 7490
was off the air at 0104. John, Mid-North Indiana``

Meanwhile, WBCQ has registered with FCC and HFCC a much different
schedule for 9330 than the original imaginary one of a wide variety of
languages and targets for the 24 hours, one hour each; instead:

** U S A. 5085, Saturday June 8, WTWW-2 `Theater Organ in [sic] the
Ozarx` does not start until 2340 when I immediately bring up the
stereo webcast instead. And it lasts 34 minutes until 2414 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1310, June 8 at 0631 UT, Colorado Broadcasters Association
PSA, guess who? 0632 UT refers to KFKA.com, and Colo. Army National
Guard PSA. Last logged presumably on October 18, 2011. It`s U2 5/1 kW,
i.e. ND day, tight slightly clockwise from N/S night pattern not good
for here to the SE of Greeley CO, making me suspect they are now on 5
kW ND day pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 91.7, KOSU, June 8 circa 1345 UT, NPR `Weekend Edition
Saturday` with 3-minute feature; transcript and audio link:

WHA, the oldest public radio station in the country, is digitizing
recordings dating to the 1920s as part of a project called "Preserving
Rural and Women's Programming on Wisconsin Public Radio."

UNIDENTIFIED. 6170, June 8 at 1711, JBA talk via Utwente SDR. I`m
hoping by elimination this will be the almost-monthly broadcast of
100-watt Scandinavian Weekend Radio, FINLAND. NZ is on 6170 but
off at 1650 –-- except Saturdays to 1858! This is still well before
summer sunset in Europe, so who knows which it might be? Other SWR
frequencies 5980 and 11720 are empty, while 11690 is full of French,
i.e. CRI via East Turkistan. SWR is often found NOT to be adhering to
its own frequency schedule.

Let us NOTE what WRTH 2019 page 470 says about this: ``The station is
run as a series of temporary licences for 24h on the first Sat local
time for three consecutive months. No transmission in Jan, May, Sep as
required by law, before the club is entitled to a new series of
licences`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7989.6-LSB, approx., early UT June 9 but forgot to note
the time, very poor intermittent talk, can`t really resolve into clear
USB or LSB. Suspect it`s second harmonic of 80m ham, but nothing
audible in 3994-3995 area, less propagable vs summer noise level
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17550, June 8 at 1811, JBA carrier with Doppler flutter
--- could Kuwait be on earlier than 2000? Nothing else is scheduled;
but with BFO I detect multiple carriers, and seems high-speed RTTY

DAY-BY-DAY ARCHIVE OF GLENN HAUSER`S LOG REPORTS:
Unedited, uncondensed, unchanged from original version, many of
them too complex, minutely researched, multi-frequency, opinionated,
inconsequential, off-topic, or lengthy for some log editors to
manage; and also ahead of their availability in these weekly issues:
